But it provides an unequivocal advantage. Thats why they do it. And as long as anyone does it, anyone not doing it is running around blindfolded. I just find it... in apropriate to recommend people play at night when there is no reason to because for the last year they have not limited the gamma slider, new engine or not..

Bow & Arrow - Minor amends that are seriously needed.
Judopunch replied to rickyriot's topic in Suggestions
Maby the far NorthWest. But if you did not know there are two models for the tree. The small one and the large one. They are relatively common even towards the middle of the map. Yet again the two biggest issues effecting the bow are its range and the fact that you need an ax to get the stick. You will most often have a gun before you will need a bow. -

Actually they are just about everywhere. The problems is when you would want a bow you probably do not have an Ax, removing that requirement, and increasing the range of the weapon, would do a lot for its usability. As it is I generally find several guns before I would think about using a bow, for all the reasons listed by the OP. -
To make this any fun at all, in my opinion, gamma needs to be clamped. Why can we still crank brightness and gamma to such excessive levels? The ability for this adjustment completely negates any desire to play at night. Anyone that knows about it or is doing it is at a massive advantage against people who want to play more authentically. This leaves the choice to be shot by someone you never had a chance to see coming or to use the exploit yourself. When will this be fixed.

Still wont be optimized. If anything all the problems with interfacing the new rendered could make it worse for a time.

See... Here is the problem. lets take #2 first. You are going to pre-arrange drop locations how? By calling your friends? Sending an email? How are you going to find your friends in the first place? Are you all going to call each other and say 'lets play'. It just appears that with this you have the ability to be insanely hypocritical. And for what? I see what your getting at but in order to really do this your going to have to be at a lan with every other person in the server. And with 3, once you know the map you know the map. You already have knowledge of Chernarus, having lived and died there over and over again. The in-game map is also easy to find and honestly better than the DB one for location and navigation. So at the point you have EVER seen a DayZDB map, or played more than a couple lives in Chernarus this becomes rather pointless. NOW if you can get 100 people together on a lan and have them play for 3 or 4 days straight as a competition for last survivor(s) standing then you would be on to something, possibly. But I fail to see the added effect especially #2. If you don't want that just don't play with your real life friends. Now what I would be all for in response to #2 is that if you die you cant log into the same server for a day or two, and all stashed persistent items take a random amount of damage. This prevents running back to your body/equipment. But as it stands #2, while a cute idea, cant be enforced for the general public, and #3 has no point because of accumulated knowledge.

The game is in development. Your 'average fps' will fluxuate between 1 and 150 no matter what type of computer you are running because the game is in NO WAY optimized, nor will it be for at least a year.

Why does the game hide everything cool from us?
Judopunch replied to Sebidee's topic in General Discussion
And this is something most people do not understand. They think the primary goal of this game is to collect military loot and kill people. The primary goal of this game is going to be survival. Survive starvation, the environment, zombies, and THEN other players. But right now there is no challenge from the primary focus of the game, so players acquire weapons (far far to easily) and deathmatch. Collecting high end military loot should be difficult and rare. It will be a tertiary priority, with getting enough clean (ya clean water, not just from the pond thats going to make you sick) and food as your first, with surviving the environment being your second. When survival becomes more difficult you will see a lot more threads like these and a lot of starving freezing people who want it some other way. Yet again, if you want your ak mags either go play arma or wait tell the 'loot loot 24-7 day spawn with vehicle and gun' servers come up after release. Enjoy your crappy watered down experience, you may as well just be playing arma at that point. -

Dont know what game you are playing. Maby if you just search one server instead of server hopping you would have better luck. Remember everyone that is to immature to actually work for their loot has the same idea you do, hop servers in the areas likely to spawn weapons. I'm glad the ghilly suit is hard to assemble. It is done very very well in this game and provides a huge tactical advantage to snipers. I don't want 100 people to have them. Sounds like you need to play arma or wait tell 'spawn with high loot 24-7 daylight high loot loot loot free vehicle' modded servers. if you dont like whats going on. This is a survival game, it is not a fps/tacticool game. You do not need the objects you desire to enjoy this game. You need them to make the game more like a FPS deathmatch. This is not that. There is nothing wrong with persistent servers. The problem is 200 people only go to the airfield or the coast expecting that the other 199 havent picked it clean. There is MASSIVE amounts of loot in the central and western towns because it re-spawns there and no one is exploring. People are just lazy. -
Its called deception. If you want a game where people are not going to lie and try to kill you, try single player. But I hear NPC's often do the same thing. Without conflict how can we know peace? Without lie's how can we know the value of honesty? Without betrayal what is trust?

What is exactly happening or wrong when fighting zombies?
Judopunch replied to cheranuscrusiser's topic in General Discussion
I think that is the zombies desyncing past their models like we do. It may have something to do with doors being both open and closed at the same time, but allowing players to walk through them anyways. -

The Winchester Model 70 discussion thread
Judopunch replied to 5mirkeh's topic in General Discussion
Give an average untrained person an assault rifle, have them spring 100 yards, then have them crouch and take a shot at a target 100 yards away. Let me know how that goes :P In DayZ you don't need to worry about an unlimited amount of factors that affect a shot in real life. Its actually a bit to easy to down someone at 300 yards with a mosin and LRS. In short DayZ is a game and it should be balanced accordingly, and besides the balance isnt finished yet. I would assume that when we have non pristine guns and attachments they will increase the accuracy of higher end weapons accordingly. -

Judopunch replied to cheranuscrusiser's topic in General Discussion
No. The server and the navmesh, as well as server fps and the AI that is a work in progress, all have trouble separating where the character and zombie are when it comes to obsticals. This allows the zombies to walk through walls, hit you from several floors below you (the game isnt respecting the Y axis at all) and other latency related issues. Until server FPS improves your best bet is to not fight zombies in buildings because of all the pathing and position issues. It has little to do with your computer, though a bad internet connection would impact this. -

Anyone Remember World Containers?

Im sure its tied directly into persistence/server performance and they are still ironing out the bugs with that. -

Jumping back in after six months... what do I NEED to know?
Judopunch replied to PhillyT's topic in General Discussion
To the OP, there are a lot of new ways to gather food from hunting, gardening, rabbit traps, fish traps. Persistence still has a good chance to keep the coast bare, but if you go inland you will find a town that is literately overflowing with loot. Many military weapons spawns have been lowered, and helicopter crashes are the only way to get M4 and Aug's. You can also mend boots/backpacks/vests with duct tape/leather working kit. -
AMD processors struggle with the game. The game is in early alpha, it may work fine one week and not fine the next. I would recommend you wait tell beta if you have any reservations.

Ya my English comprehension is pretty good and I have a background in animation/production.
