  1. Ya because, you know, they aren't building the game from the ground up or anything.

    Mouse acceleration = NO!

They are working on it. Do some reading. Its not as simple as 'remove it' because of how it is tied into the games architecture. You seem to not understand what is going on. I recommend watching Deans road map interview and reading the dev blog.

What dayz could have been without zombies

I played a bit of Altis Life (someone brought it up). I could see some kind of mod for DayZ, involving only players, being VASTLY more successful that Altis Life. The major issue with Altis life is its artificial rules to force people to RP. Its not really a sandbox, its a RP fps mix. Throwing the "rules of RP" out the window, so to speak, would probably make it much more interesting. The challenge is to provide a meaningful experience BEYOND just shooting people and trolling them. The NEED in the game to be a part of a group, and to be discouraged from trolling. Altis Life tryes to do this with "no killing without an RP reason", its an honor system, and thats where it fails.

What dayz could have been without zombies

no. He said "the engine is not built for such an enemy". The engine is not built for, implies that the engine is built. He than says "removing them would remove the need to fix the current clunk we see". This directly implies that the clunk in the engine (remember its not finished yet, thus why its clunky) would help the engine be better. This is contradictory. To fix the clunk we see we need to finish the engine. When it is finished it will shine. And than we can talk about whether or not they did a good job.

Would this be possible for DayZ ?

I think its possible, i dont think it should be done. The focus of DayZ in my opinion should be on survival against the elements, zombies, and other players in a hostile post apocalyptic Russian themed country. The realism that the game uses to achieve the ends dictate the framework and boundary of the game. To design a game well you need to know when to not do something just for the sake of doing it. For example they could scan the entire known world, and make the game that big. Difficult? Absolutely! Possible, most likely! However it would not help the 'focus' of the game. Car wrecks? Flips? damage to parts? probably going to happen. Crash simulation including numerous forces? Probably not. It would not significantly enrich the game, about survival against the environment, players, and zombies, to have your car wrecks cooler. The amount of work involved would not yeild enough benefit to the focus.

What dayz could have been without zombies

Thats the entire point. For the statement 'engine will take a lot of work to be comparable with zeds" to be true the engine would need to be finished. The game DayZ SA, as well as the engine that will run it, are not yet finished. The fatal flaw is he is talking about DayZ SA as if it were a finished game. It is not.

What dayz could have been without zombies

I was not insulting you. The flaw in your logic is you say 'the engine could', directly imply that the engine is finished. They are still building it. When it is finished it will be able to handle zombies well. If English is not his first language than I can understand some of the inconsistency's with his posting, apologize and politely point out that the game is not finished yet. I find it offensive that so many posters on these forums have no clue what an Alpha is, and that MAJOR parts of this game are still being developed and are not included with what they are JUDGING as the 'game'. The reason I am so upset, is because posts and reasoning such as I have highlighted pollute any and all decent conversation.

Respectfully, is English your native language? Because what you are saying and implying, are not what you are saying and implying.

No you said 'Firstly, the engine is not built for such an enemy. Removing them would remove the need to fix the current clunk we see, and would allow the engine to /shine/.'. The engine is not yet built This statement is the kind of bull mainstream news outlets are pulling. Its unethical and needlessly inflammatory. It does not provide good information nor does it facilitate good discussion. You can do better. Edit: Furthermore, your not being constructive. This was a good thread with an intriguing idea, im sure it WILL make a good mod. Yet you to post on how the zombies in this game arent finished yet. And continue to use that for the entire ground for your discussion and negative attitude towards this Alpha. If you have read almost anything from the dev blogs, or watched Deans speach about the roadmap for the game, you would realize that this is an Alpha not a game. Some major parts of its infrastructure are not in place. Zombies, ai, pathing, and balance are not even remotely done yet. Why, instead of complaining about work CURRENTLY BEING DONE, can you not just stick within the topic: Imagine a DayZ without zombies.

Where have all the experimental servers gone?

This is probably my only large complaint with how the dev team is handling development. They need a PR person to keep notes on exp server status, upcoming changlogs, features announcements, community interaction....
  12. or it will be all the way around? 5 months and counting, how many months will take to you start changing your mind? Bout 16 by my estimate. Go look up the time between 'Early Alpha' and 'Release', for most games. Usually over a year. Seeing as how we are in "early Alpha" and most of the major components of the game are still being written, as they bring on new staff i think my estimate is going to be about right.

Statements like this piss me off so much I want to break something. Its a smoldering mature hate from the center of my being. THE REDACTED ENGINE TO HANDLE 'SUCH A REDACTED ENEMY' IS BEING BUILT AS WE SPEAK. I mean are you REDACTED SERIOUS? How ignorant can you be to post this shit? you have 700 posts. DO YOU READ ANYTHING?
  14. Did you try through the walls or stairs ?
  15. I should start archiving all of the 'I know its alpha but..." posts. That way when the game is finished i can either have an extraordinary laugh at all the guys crying about how the sky is falling (most likely) or at least give them the marginal chance at their 'I told you this game would never be good'. If I were a betting man, I'd bet Im getting my laugh.

Both die at the same time?

Although, mabie it shouldnt be diminished. People have a Hollywood notion of what happens when you get shot. However depending on where and with what people dont just clutch their chest and fall over. There are even reasons where if you are not shot at the base of the skull your body can still spazzum and pull the trigger, though you are missing most of your brain.
  17. There are mods like this for Arma, though I have not played them yet.

What you can't see, shouldn't be rendered

Object culling. Read the dev blog. They have talked about this multiple times.

Why wont people play in the night ?

I dont play at night often because I dislike the gama adjustment. If im not using it someone who is will most likely have an insurmountable advantage, should they wish to torture me.

500 second wait timer? Rant @ devs

You will think they are a waste of time until you run into a squad of 3 people and two of them log in behind you because they ghosted over in another server and shoot you ass. Enjoy your 30 minute run.

    The problem with hardcore.

Your FoV or aspect ratio is probably throwing you off, try adjusting it a bit both ways.
  22. Judopunch

    Soooo about Hardcore

  23. Lag, your foot sticking through the floor, or possibly he did shoot you through the floor. In arma the weapons can penetrate walls and ricochet, Im not sure how much of that is in Dayz yet, but I know for sure you can shoot through most doors.

Have people in this game gone insane?

Didn't they tell you? All the kids that are either way to young, or are now bored with Xbox call of duty, are now coming over to PC!

    Soooo about Hardcore

I just built a head tracker, when I finish getting it calibrated and working properly its going to be insane. I was dorking around in arma 3 with it its crazy fun.
