Why nobody want to play in the night time?
Judopunch replied to MrKartel's topic in General Discussion
And as a new spawn if you dont have these? Also The gama exploit trumps both. -
I believe you can Roll off of ledges, double tap your lean key.

Same stupid "running with pistol" animation as in A3
Judopunch replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
Dead on sprinting with a pistol in one hand seems like you really want to shoot yourself IMO. -
The only reason I would be inclined to keep the tetris part is because it makes you have to mess around with your inventory. It makes it take time to arrange your backpack and pick up gear. I think that the impact of 'time spent shuffling stuff' is important in this game, because that time is time for something to go wrong.

Two reasons. You cant fight and use a flashlight. The dangerous people all know about the gama exploit. -
The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them

Nothing would stop them. They would just have to fix the place up a bit! -
The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them

However it doesnt punish a player for dying. If you dont have to work for your survival whats the point of the game? Die, run to the mound of crap you have hidden. I think thats why its preferable to have damage upon player death. Without it your encouraging a first person shooter mentality. -

Please provide me with your plethora of experience giving you the ability to judge exactly how absurd it is. -
The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them

This post has room for good well thought out discussion. Among things related to persistence AND barricading, when the player dies what should happen to his barricades? I would personally favor everything last tagged by the dead player to immediately loose a random amount of quality (favoring worn to damaged) unless another player is within 10M of the items/barricades. This would solve for two things firstly it would make it so death isnt just 'run back to where I hid all my crap'. And secondly it would allow for people to 'discover an abandon position' left by a not so fortunate survivor providing gear, but of what quality.. -
*sobs* I had just given into the hate. I was in a 'happy place'. *sniffle*

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
Judopunch replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
You must not really get this. Your saying 'how can you have a car out of this mess of parts on the floor'. Some of the parts they are throwing out, some they are ordering, some they are stress testing for redesign. THIS IS AN ALPHA, they are BUILDING THE BLOCKS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. Yet for some reason you talk like all the blocks are supposed to be built? -
WHY DID YOU POST THIS. I had finally done away with ALL OF MY FAITH IN HUMANITY. Then you have to come here and screw it all up, giving me hope that people can be awesome and shit!
-
They are making great progress. Just about on the clip I thought they would. I cant wait to dig up all my old posts for a 'told ya so' here in another 12 months or so.

It would blow peoples mind how past 100 yards if you pull the trigger incorrectly even slightly you miss by several feet.

I'm a very good shot in trapshooting. I own a pistol and use my fathers .306 occasionally. I, prone with a bipod, can hit an milk-jug at about 80 yards, after aiming for a few seconds provided I lay correctly. If I have to move one way or another because I have shouldered the weapon incorrectly I have to re-shoulder the weapon. This makes every shot I fire take between 5 and 20 seconds. I do not believe I could reliably hit the target while standing. The idea of hitting a moving target, at 300 yards, laying on the side of some god forsaken hill makes me laugh. There are a few of those people out there but not many. It takes practice, training, equipment, and skill. It is not fun to be minding your own business in a survival game, and get picked off from over 300 yards away. It is also not probable that anyone other than a rifle expert is capable of doing it. Is there some 'war on snipers'? No. But it shouldnt be very easy not only for the health of the game, but because its hard. Are the weapon mechanics in the game finished? No, there is some work still to be done. But as usual, the Devs know what they are doing and the game keeps getting better and better.

Has dayZ succeeded in being a different type of game?
Judopunch replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
When the loot gets rare... And you get hungry... You will know survival. Until then carry on and have fun with a significantly smaller setback in teh event of your demise! -
Weird Unexpected Death. Can someone explain?
Judopunch replied to Devil's Toast's topic in General Discussion
My GF had her leg broken. The server was a bit lagy at the time, im guessing you lagged through the floor and took damage that killed you. -
Bug mod closed my report, citing it is a duplicate, when it is not

Computer for running DayZ Standalone ?
Judopunch replied to RiasGremory's topic in General Discussion
I would not buy a computer for DayZ. The game is not optimized yet, you could buy an amazing system and still suffer proformance loss. Now if you were just looking at an excuse to buy or build a new computer entry level gaming computers run around $800usd but wont get you very far. Mid range is $1000 and good is around $1200 usd. -
A smooth 15fps can be a better experience than a bad 30 fps. However the difference you will 'feel' between a smooth 15, 30, and 60 are definitely noticeable.
-
That may actually be the case. It could be covered by animation if so?
-
Probably very as it would need to be rendered on the spot, creating brand new calculations instantaneously :(
-
But even your 'monster' computer would crack if it had to render grass for two miles in every direction. With current technology it is not possible, to the best of my knowledge.
-
There are a couple reasons this could be. But you dont provide enough information. Changing gear, changing animation, serverside updates we dont see, client side updates, field of view, health and character display somehow tied in. Second post has lower quality, bad resolution? Different light but they are still there. Your not wearing gloves either...
