Okay, I admit this is a very special idea and I have full understanding if people say it is too much or leads Dayz in a wrong direction. But I really liked to see a food chain and a natural cycle included in the game, reduced to an extent where it adds something to the game experience. As far as I know we have predators and we have plant eaters. So it would be cool, if the predators hunt for themselves, and in that way control the population balance. We know there will be a life cycle for zombies, so it maybe was possible to add a life cycle for animals as well. In what way would it add something to the game? sounds: You would hear dangerous or attracting natural sounds, like a wolfpack hunting a deer, or the communication between animals. A lot of people say they want only sounds which have any real effect in the game. With a food chain there would be events with real background. They can be warning signs or hints for good hunters, but in both ways woul contribute to immersion. animal habits: You would have predators or mother animals who attack you, and animals who avoid you. Animal behaviour would be dependent on comprehensible variables which would make them appear more lively and real. Also you could try to steal prey or carrion from predators... or the other way around? Animals could scent wounded animals and humans. Not funny when you kneel over your own prey or try to hide something for later. catastrophe: Animal populations can decrease and increase on their own, they can also collapse. People are confronted with different mods of difficulty when they go hunting, depending on how stable populations are. hunting grounds: Predators could have hunting grounds (maybe moving when prey decreases), in which it is more dangerous to rest or survive. The whole system would be hunter-based. It would also explain why predators attack humans much more often than it is actually realistic. They and zombies reduce the plant eater population to such an extent, that they have to adopt new modes of survival. Maybe some of them are infected with "rage", to borrow from 28 days later. ---- Only a few thoughts, I suppose there are a lot of elements that could be added once such an food chain interaction between animals is put in place. I am open to criticism or complete rejection, but please give an explanation. And also I never was hunting, so I'd appreciate people who corrected misconceptions or just discuss how a similar system could work properly within the engine.

Military Gear lootspawns need immense reductions
jayleann replied to Baklavah's topic in Suggestions
When I was in Berenzino two weeks ago, there was a guy who followed me for kilometres, just running as long until I would have made a mistake and kill me for the few things I had. So I tried to activate two zombies who were around. They saw me, followed me... and I stopped, hoping they would attack us both and ruin his evil plan. In the end three people hit me. Two zombies and the guy. They didn't even care that he was there. So I think more intelligence would reduce kos easily, because I could punish people by just running in places where my items are worth nothing. -
And a riot shild like the one Frank uses in 28 Days later: with downhill function:

I had thunder, lightning and cloudburst a few minutes ago (stable, not experimental).

Unlike most other people here I suppose you are inspired by the Walking Dead series where people have relationships and try to live a normal life and all. This is not a bad idea at all and I am with you. I just think Dayz is not made for this kind of experience. I think what you have in mind would be a completely different game which at the moment doesn't exist.

I can think of it combined with illness or less dangerous kinds of poison (berries and mushrooms which are not deadly). pro: - no consumption item, or very slowly - chance to improve your health condition over time, supports your natural regeneration - takes no slot in the backpack con: - you are exposed and relatively helpless while using (bandits, zombies, animals) - needs some time/boring (could use the time to read maps or books) - no guarantee sleeping will help, you could die a slow death (hunger, thirst, illness) - everybody can see that valuable item hanging at your backpack I like it.

Training a wolf is not exactly like training a dog. It's extremly dangerous and probably you will die in a weak moment.
-
And you could upload everything. A chicken butt.
-
I would just push (?) two or three of them together to avoid this.

awww. :beans:

Now I want a car opener.

And what about people who want to discuss your topic although you are not interested anymore?

A lot of people here are no native speakers :) I generally like this idea of things falling down because you are not careful enough and all, but I don't know if such a thing is possible without better physics. It kind of goes along the line with falling over chairs or downstairs, and stuff like that.

Maybe it would be a good idea if zombies (or some of them) had three kinds of attacks. Hiting, jumping and grappling. While hitting and jumping would be the animation we know, grappling would hold you in position for a short period of time (to bite for example). In tense situations this would reduce your movement ability and make close combat more dangerous. Btw. I miss that option for players too, since pvp close combat mainly consists of running forth and back from your opponent while hitting. The one with the better fps always has advantage because of better timing. Judo or Systema seems to be an alien concept in dayz.

I don't want the devs to decide how I have to play the game to be honest. And I would rather kill on sight in groups than alone. First reason is that fighting alone is very dangerous and second reason is, in a group I'm responsible for other people and therefore I act in order to protect them.

I think if you started with this kind of long-term effects, there are other more important topics. Diseases like rabies, influenza or ingame learned phobias, scars, malnutrition and many other things. If these kinds of effects would be part of the game I'd say: Yes. This is a good addition.

I never limp when I go bare feet? And blisters without shoes? I think I don't get it. The animation looked cool if somebody shot in your upper leg.
-
Like your voice. So calm.
-
Couldn't you simply type something like /cool or /warning or /comeout in the textchat-box to initiate movement?
-
Can you change it in any way for yourself or are you doomed now? :|

I'd love to see that as part of the "body hygiene" besides hunger and thirst. If you never wash you look dirty and certainly it affects your health situation in the long run.

tights would be great, and I don't mean it funny at all. :)
