Make sure you disconnect other controllers/wheels -
In games, automatic weapons tend to be close-quarters weapons. The more powerful the weapon, the slower the rate of fire (to get some balance) all the way up to bolt-action rifles (what you really should be using for long-range attacks)

Try setting your soundcard to record 'What you Hear' instead of the mic. -
If I find another rifle that I have ammo for, I'll take it into hand and load it. OK, so I have to drop it to use something else, but it's an extra weapon. It will remain at my feet after log-off.

I mostly go 1st person on regular servers now. I get much less lag and frame-rate issues when not in 3rd. -
