Havn't played the mod, don't plan to. Dayz is the first zombie/survival game i've played and the reason I got Steam.

If I'm not familar with the city or location I try to log out within sight of the city or in what I perceive as a safe upstairs in a building. If I'm comfortable with the area I take refuge in clustered tree areas with a small clearance in the centre. While I wait about a minute to check of no zeds in my radius I arrange my invo which I think also helps to ensure my next log in is where I left it. I've had no problems logging out upstairs apart from it glitching as the server loads but it's always been fine.

As a fresh spawn, how do you deal with Zombies since the latest Patch?
Kestrol replied to Demonica's topic in New Player Discussion
To handle the new "modified" zombie's I did make one chase me into water... It glitched and sunk, still walking like normal but only took one punch once it finally resurfaced. I also managed to make a zombie start hitting another zombie at the foot of a ladder when I had 3 below me, so I kept lowering myself and going back up lol but this took ages -.- I do want to mention I'm finding the zombies see me from far too far away, they are not this observant I am sure..... But when I do get in melee with them they are still hitting me from metres and away and I'm missing when it looks like I'm continuously bashing them in the face! This is annoying. -
My advice is make mistakes and learn from it yourself. Way more fun. This stuff doesn't exactly take ages to discover

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Kestrol replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
My first experience since logging in post update consisted of firing 1 shot with my mosin by the water in Svetlo and having a barrage of about 9 zombies (all be it, well spaced out time wise) come at me, each extra shot causing more aggro until i had temporarily cleared the area. I saw zombies spawning, i dont like this. I feel they ought to spawn at least 100m away and that their main sense should be noises, not sight unless within perhaps 50m. I do find the zombies do too much damage, 1 wimpy punch and my guy is bleeding? I don't need to mention the zeds through walls thing by now I'm sure... <_< -
What kind of food recipes do you want in DayZ
Kestrol replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
There should be more game in the game ;) I want to kill a cute bunny and eat it. Stews are the obvious creatable meal Dayz is lacking. There is also rice but nothing to use with it. If there was flour, we could make various pies either with meats or apples! -
If the building is glitched and the zombies arn't affected by your attack.... Run.. You can't do much else.

I hate to make such a topic but I am getting bored of navigating the wrong way and ending up in vast open spaces of nothing. Here is a screenie of my current location, My last known location was Khelm North East, then I found the train station with cars and now I'm here, not traveled too far from the other two locations but I can see nothing from where I am, Id like to head towards the coast. I would really appreciate the help. I hope the pic is helpful.

Tip: Never go into one of these buildings
Kestrol replied to thequantum's topic in New Player Discussion
I had rocks too, my char decided to glide without leg movement over rocks, and I fell through them and was under the sea for some time but didn't die, just broken legs. It was such a wtf moment. V key is my saving grace for getting off ladders safely and out of glitches. But yes those building are a death trap, a medic came to rescue me from the highest flat roof, i told him NOT to climb the ladder up but he forgot and died. I spent the next 10 minutes shuffling all our items until he got back to me. On the plus side, i did get my morphine.... I get an abnormal amount of enjoyment out of the glitches in this game ^_^ -
Concretely: what differs the pro from the noob?
Kestrol replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in New Player Discussion
I’ve only been playing a month, but.... I would say a noob is someone who panics upon any PVP interaction, runs in open spaces with no concealment, wastes resources and ammo and has very little knowledge of the game in general. Pro's know the map and where to find items they require. They can read player movement or even predict it. They survive and become familiar with the surroundings. Knowing the map is key. This includes item spawn locations and efficiency of items. A pro will always see you first and be in control. -
KOSers of all ages. Anyone with an annoying voice.
-
You see someone, you or they kill imediatly without communication. It's pretty obvious when read in context.
-
Your player profile is linked to your pc name, so you have to create a second profile with new name. Then you can delete the other.
-
This is a common problem and threads already existing with the same issue. I can only suggest changing your computers name to change user name as I beleive this will KO your character.

I relate in the dislike of zombie based games, this is the ONLY one I have ever considered playing. At the moment it's hardly about zombies atall and they arn't very dominating but that may well change. I like DayZ for the amount of freedom, player interaction (or not if i wish) and the sense of survival. It depends on whether you are easily bored and what you consider boring. Yes you can run for a while before you get somewhere but if you like exploring and learning maps, .. you'll like it ^_^ I personally think the map is huge and as far as I'm aware, will be expanding, regarding everything else, I don't know. - I also get a lot of lols due to it being Alpha.

^ What I was going to say. Or if your character has decent stuffs then use Dayz Medic system.. cos your not going to find morphine crawling around the coast

Wielding my gun like a pro

I've only been playing since mid Jan, and realised not so long ago I never had a clue where I was or where I was headed so I have been making my way from the east coast all the way round to the west, where I encountered Cherno for the first time (less exciting after scouting it out than I first imagined) After this I might stick to the west and head north rather than getting lost in the centre as I have no compass yet. I love the exploring, free roaming is such win.

Need Medical Assistance in DayZ SA ? Find Your medic here!
Kestrol replied to TMWMarijke's topic in General Discussion
The guy rescuing me travelled from North East down to Cherno to mend my broken legs! Although he forgot i told him NOT to climb the ladder to apartment roof as it's glitched...and he died at the bottom of it. I spent the next 10 minutes juggling both our items whilst he ran back to Cherno from his spawn!! I did however get the morphine lol and he retreived most of his items :) -
DayZ Player Types: What do you bring to the community?
Kestrol replied to THEBIGYADIG's topic in New Player Discussion
My class would be none of the above. Your forgetting the adventurers, stealth players and those with moral guidelines (They do exist) -
I read that changing your computers name can cause your character to die.
-
And I thought I was bad when I wrote down basic controls on some paper (from finding them in the options). Then after a short while I remembered them! Crazy.

Being a tourist... I have clouds turned on, I do find the sun always seems to be infront of me though. Sadly I have to turn settings down quite frequently as my setup is pathetic.

I'm constantly panning my screen so the light fans through the trees making my char look majestic  Kinda
