How can you say "I understand it is in alpha" and continue on with the rest of your rant here. Even if it were in early beta you would be missing a crap ton of content and polish, let alone it being in a rather earlish alpha phase...
-
Server hopping and combat logging will eventually be adressed. It is still very much in alpha, and we have to accept that those things may not be on the top priority list. Not to sound like a broken record, but we bought into a testing phase knowingly and he actually strongly recommended people don't buy into it if they didn't want to test the game in its early phase.

Speaking for myself, I would have no idea of knowing whether you would follow me or pull out a pistol and just kill me. Perhaps I let you live and you stalk me for a while in the shadows waiting for me to loot something. You get the idea I hope. This is from experience btw. I've let a few people live and it has backfired every frickin time. I don't blame these players for doing this, it is apart of the game.

The whole point of this game is that we have the freedom to make any decision we want. Yes, people came from the mod, because the mod is virtually the same concept. Only difference is that the mod was far buggier and did not run very well at all. The core of the game remains the same. You collect loot, want to survive for fear of losing it all, and will do anything to make sure you don't lose the time you spent, even if that means killing someone you deem as a threat. You are right though, this game is not for you if you can't handle that fact.

The mod was no different, so I don't see how anyone could be surprised by this. If you haven't played the mod, then you might as well just accept now that the game is that experience. You are meant to scan around and make sure it is safe and not run through open fields. Even the best of players fall prey to these things from time to time and that is just how it is. With the threat of losing time spent, the point of this game will always be survival. If a person with a fire axe can sneak up on me at any point and happens to be in the same area as me, you better believe I will take him out first if I am able. This isn't the type of game where you can just apply an honor code to everything; you can't just shout at them and ask them to kindly get in position for a fire fight, that kind of defeats the whole atmosphere of the game.

I don't see anything wrong with a fresh spawn trying to kill a geared player.. however I do feel that there needs to be far more spawn points that are not located on the beach. Because as you say, it is literally just a death sentance for someone and forces geared players to generally avoid the beach entirely if you don't have the intention to kill people with nothing.

To me this is still just a video game, and like many of you who question the mental stability of those who 'refuse' to be held up, I question the logic you all use to come to the conclusion that there is simply a lack of imagination. Some of us don't have that much time to spend playing. Sometimes an hour, maybe 2 max a day, and not even every day. With that said, these people might not want to willingly give up the fight for a chance to not only survive, but come up on top of the situation with some extra loot. It is almost always a question of time spent and how much time will be lost. You weigh in those factors and you now have to ask yourself if you feel like going along with it to see if you can get some enjoyment out of a purely role playing experience. This is based on my personal experience so far obviously, as no one has been merciful nor have they been kind in any way to at least 'ease' the mind of the person they just killed after leading them on. Am I surprised? No, and I expected this coming in. The game presents options that are either easy or hard. Most people will choose the easy way out and just kill others and that is apart of the charm of the game. Then you have some who don't mind risking their time spent playing the game by helping others or at least not completely destroying the other player as is being discussed. That is admirable in that you might understand how valuable a person's time is to them, which is why you might give them a choice. With that same logic, however, you have to understand why a person would choose to go out fighting rather than submit to some random stranger over the internet's will. It isn't a matter of life or death, it is a matter of your time being wasted or not.

This poll can't be taken seriously. He just got done making a thread asking why people refuse being held up.. so how is this poll going to prove his points right or wrong? The answer here is obvious, but it isn't what his point is and has absolutely nothing to do with it :\
-
This coming from a guy who keeps making threads to question this thread and its outcome. Or even posting/insulting the general playerbase who disagrees with you in random other threads? Seriously? I really think you need to practice what you preach in this regard. You absolutely refuse to grasp the simple concepts that people are putting out in front of you and not only resort to insults, but vague replies that lead up to further insults. What is the point of making a thread like this if you can't accept a rebuttle?
-
Alas, that is an impossible task.
-
This isn't really a fair poll. What is worse? Obviously dying is worse, but being borderline tortured slowly and insulted for 10 minutes isn't exactly a thrilling experience either. By far the majority of encounters I've had ended up in me dying.. not being spared.
-
Right, because you totally keep tabs of every name on this forum. Certainly everyone who argued your points must be the ones complaining about KoS. It is impossible that they are all different people with their own opinions just like yourself, right? >.>

If we are talking about a group of people holding one guy up.. then that is a completely different story. However, if you are alone, your aim in this game wont always be perfect if the guy dashes off sprinting behind a tree or building before you hit him. It only takes one hit from a fire axe to kill you, and several with a pipe wrench to get the job done as well.

Twice today my friend was held up as a fresh or nearly fresh spawn. Both times he let them handcuff him just for the sake of laughs and out of curiosity of what might happen. All that happened was that both times the people doing the "questioning" merely wasted his time while fumbling around trying to figure out how to 'torture' him or just plain give him some disinfectent. It was a waste of time and fighting them would have been a much better response instead of sitting there simply hoping they will spare him. I personally ran into a group of 2 people trying to hold me up on the road, both armed to the teeth and all I had was a pipe wrench. They come up to me to play their little game and I think to myself, "Should I take a chance and potentially let them not only waste my time, but make a fool of me for no good reason, or should I go down swinging?". The answer resulted in me getting lucky with a couple of good swings and got fully equipped in the process. The point is that just because someone holds you up at gunpoint claiming to have good intentions does not mean they do. Why take the risk? There is always a good chance with almost any melee weapon that requires 2 hands that you might actually win the fight. In fact I would say you have a very good chance at that. You want to role play in a game where death is a major inconvenience, then expect most people who might have had many bad experiences to fight back with a vengeance. It isn't out of desperation or spite, it is for survival and a big chance at gearing up. Simple as that.
