You probably saw what you thought to be a Star Wars wookie, but was in truth a guy in a ghillie suit.

A beginner's tip that would've saved me if only I knew. If you get sepsis infection, use a disinfecting wipe, then apply bandage to the wound. If you don't have any and need time, try to find antibiotics. Otherwise you will die. Last time I played the Moon was on my South West. Not sure if it's always there. I didn't have time to find the Pole Star so I had to find another solution to get around. Other tip that helped me. Look at the map of Chernarus and try to memorize the big lines of it. The vehicles are located at different spots obviously, unless the server is freshly spawned or the vehicle got destroyed. But try to remember the bigger towns and their location. It's necessary knowledge IMO.

They are part of the game. Best thing is to get yourself some friends in this game. You are stronger in group than alone. Also goes for bandit players of course. Bandits are more effective in squads. It's one of the reasons I like this game. When people say "You might not stay in Chernogorsk, it's not safe", they are talking about hunters. How often have I seen cars filled with bandit-skin players driving past not noticing me. It's what makes this game thrilling.

Wiping wounds stops infection?
Bernharde replied to Karmaterror's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh dear. Was too late to have read this guide and fell victim to the infection. All I had to do was drive to a medical supply (preferably military) and find myself some antibiotics. I had two working cars I had access to even. :p -
In Minecraft you can eat Rotten Zombie Flesh with little risk. ^^

What's the best way to find my friends on the map?
Bernharde replied to WertyRO's topic in New Player Discussion
Learning to read Cyrillic only takes one day. It's that easy. Learning Russian might prevent you getting killed by the many Russian players in DayZ who typically play bandit style. I wouldn't count in it, though. -
The SVD SD Camo combined with a ghillie if I could get my hands on one. Excellent range, easy to use and hard to spot in the hills (and zombies won't run at you).

Would've been epic if you had fraps on. I believe you though. :)

Seeing there are so many people that can't be trusted, I'm sure there are many 'self-defence bandits' out there.

I've played on a non Epoch server and found one of these. They take up too much inventory space, though. If they don't have any use, I'll leave that one. It was on UK431.

Or join a server which allows you to choose where you spawn near and look at the environment. -
Are many people still playing the Dayz Mod?
Bernharde replied to Suhr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some people are as crazy to have just bought it (four days ago), like myself. I also did it for Arma 2 (a realistic war simulator; might get Arma 3 after I upgrade my PC). I think I will wait with the SA when the game finishes. This game might have had a bigger community and currently the standalone version might be the one growing faster, but I still decided to go with the mod for the time being. There's still plenty of action to be found on the servers. -
Quick Question About Day Z Commander and the Mods
Bernharde replied to kd11080's topic in New Player Discussion
I have went with Epoch, Origins, Overwatch and Panthera. Have joined an Epoch server before, seems fun. Also been in a Panthera server (small community from what I noticed), but I had to walk forever Eastward over hills until I found a road and then a town. Small community because it takes forever to find a town I figure which makes dying so much more punishing. -
The mechanics behind the spawn rates
Bernharde replied to Bernharde's topic in New Player Discussion
Thanks for the info. But I don't think you ruined any of my gaming fun. I do know there's mechanics behind mobs, so anyone telling me how they work only make me wiser.
