Not even going to get into the failings of the medical system the game has, suffice to say it needs major improvements along with ballistic damage/injury.

Unless the server has been ransacked, which does happen if regular restarts don't happen, I'd be hard pressed to not have a few weapons w/ ammo after 40 min. High value buildings, whether residential, industrial, or military all spawn weapons and ammo. People seem to think you can only "score" at the airfields...dumb.

I think it was on reddit, Rocket was talking about how the random sounds are place holders and they can't simply remove them without causing a collapse of code of some sort. Like how rabbits sound like zombies, chew like cows, drink soda, and load/unload mags...rabbits are the most notorious paranoia inducing creature in the game right now. But they cannot just remove the sound or queue that causes them.

Strange, but I've always heard gunshots and I desync pretty bad sometimes. Right next to me or off in the distance, never had a problem. 'course, I suppose I could also not be hearing the ones I don't hear...now I'm confused. -
Every lane on every range I've been to always has bullet impacts and/or holes in front of the firing position ;p never ceases to make me laugh.

Rainwater collection rates should be seriously slow, but still a viable approach given time.

I carry enough kit and supplies for three people. Weight isn't a factor yet, so why not?

I find more attachments, weapons, ammo, and medical supplies in high value residential and industrial than military. let 'em have the airfields till loot respawns, I've got books, beans, and four firearms. Only thing I've begun to lack is high tier clothing, but anything green works really. I'm usually out west around Zelen and the surrounding towns 3-4k out. Military buildings are always picked clean, but other than that it's nice and quiet and I'm free to gun down zombies while I prance around from town to town.

And you would find books, food, water, and medical supplies along with a spare pistol and ammo in my backpack. Books are the secret currency of real bandits, btw.

player height is 1.8m, that help you get an idea? Or think yards, very close to meters.

Considering combat logging and ghosting/hopping has been an issue since the beginning of the mod, yes "fixing" it or at least implementing what was done was important. To someone coming in "cold" without having experienced the mod it may seem like it's a minor issue, if even one. Since all servers are enforced to be public the ability to have either have a passworded or a private hive aren't options. A major exploit (temp?) patch is good for the health of the players and testing. As for "priorities", we simply do not know what they are, how often they change, and who is working on want to assume any real knowledge of their priorites. What information we've got about any aspect must be taken as a "grain of salt". As more builds come, much more will be implemented and with that we will begin to see the fruits of their labors and can then make conjecture about where their priorities were.

Your perception of it being smaller and it actually being smaller are two different things. load up the mod, jog from point a to point b. Repeat in SA WITHOUT sprinting. Same distance. -

Will also still have the blind spot due to the height, fair trade for more gear. 1pp with a mountain pack is paranoia inducing.
