    Just start to load up empty space with ballistic helmets, will mitigate ruining items but not containers ;p

    I change my view distance based off the weapons and location I'm at, so this would be very helpful rather than having to disco/readjust/recon. If I'm not sniping then I don't need to see out past 600m nor can you reliably without optics anyway. When sniping I max it out at 1km but this has very nasty affects around high building density areas. The work-around I've been using is adjusting object quality up/down, you can still see terrain and buildings but really nothing else is drawn so it only frees up a bit of fps but does allow for increased visibility when turned up.

    Shots to the torso also damage your backpack and the items it contains, because it's worn on the torso. Not everything is ruined unless enough damage has been absorbed by all the items to effectively ruin them all. Each item has damage values that it can absorb, upon reaching zero it is ruined.

    They also allow for eavesdropping. The only problem is few people use them in place of ts/mumble. So, kinda sucks on that aspect.

    Not wanting to see helis, though if they do appear at least nothing armed, says nothing about my gaming habits. It does however say much about how you perceive mine. As I said in another thread, the "end game" with helis is server control and I'd rather not see that roll over from the mod into sa. I personally would like this game to be brutally difficult. Starting with the environment, zombies, then players. So, generalize all you like, it doesn't make you correct in your preconceived assumptions.

    1st walkie set to any freq able to send/receive text and voice 2nd walkie set to same freq able to send/receive text and voice only current modifier is distance between the two. I would think the same thing would apply for longer range radios, perhaps increased battery consumption and/or different freqs all together.

    a walkie opens up the range for proximity chat via the different freqs. I haven't tested it but watched a video and they get static on the line out past 1km. As a base point that's nice, but hopefully they add some longer range radios.
  8. I had stash points, hides, and caches but we always had a primary base. What the heli cannot see people bumble into looking for loot, which is whatever, you found it good for you. BUT now we're after you with our heli to reclaim what was liberated from us. Every solid team will at one point begin to vive for control, it's just the natural progression. What else is there besides gear, bases, and vehicles? I mean, shit, we even went out and dropped people in the sea to recover the boats just because "Fuck it, why not?". This is exactly why people like myself, Etherimp, AryanBoogeyman, and others are opposed. We know what it will lead to, and like I stated before, It just becomes a battle of attrition for control of the server. That becomes the "end game" because that's the next progressive step.

    Realism Vs. Balance

    Dear god yes...a thousand times yes. Such an utter horseshit mechanic...It's like I'm playing Fallout but I can never increase my weapon skill. One thing about the mod that drew me in was the fact that every firearm was lethal in the hands of someone that could aim. Even a freaking Mak could take someone kitted down. The guy with better aim was usually the victor, not the guy who got lucky because his bullet magically went where he aimed.
  10. Given the tools, there will always be people doing this. We had a four man team, played around bunches of shenanigans, but still scooped up any an all vehicles almost every day. When we were six strong, shit just stopped getting "reacquired" by it's previous owners because someone was usually around or would hunt them down. Before us, others did the same. It's just a power struggle and battle of attrition for control. Nothing that even constitutes cheating or abuse that an admin would even have right to kick/ban for. Playing well within the limits and scope of the game put before us.
  11. All for the sandbox style, but with a system like ACE mod...sniping wouldn't be as prevalent and everyone couldn't just pick up a rifle do it as effectively.

    Was thinking about this one too after you made the first post, came back a few times but didn't have a solid grasp on a way to integrate it. Visual hud indicator similar to how damage is indicated around the crosshairs in most fps's along with text output. Something like that, so lacking a physical scent you have a visual indicator for directionality and text output for type of odor. Dig the integration of more senses, always a plus.

  16. Unarmed heli, could take it or leave it personally. Map is small once you can rise above, travel by land makes it more taxing. Armed heli's...just no. Trollfest down the coast waiting to happen, bad idea.

    ...sos' mmkay. zombie pathing is being worked on, and "zombies" in game are infected people, not the undead. not a wip or anything, so...

    Can't vouch for in the woods, but in Zelen last night I had to shoot an move to avoid drawing too many zombies. Was quite fun running down the street from house to house popping shots and having to remain mobile.
  19. Overwatch, spotting, guiding...early warning. Value is in perspective. Anything hauled away is something, until loot respawns, removed from play.

    ArmA 3 Stances in DayZ

    Granted, the form of all the stances are heavily geared toward military tactics and body position however it's not anything that cannot be learned. Since the skeleton system in SA differs the elbows could be untucked more, weapon shouldered lower, and the stance could be closer or wider. It would give a more civilian feel and body posture awhile allowing for multiple levels of body elevation. Either way, the main take away is that with more of a variety you open up more tactical uses and add more depth to combat.
  21. I'd really like to see ACE styling shooting. It would cut down the amount of people who snipe in-game to those that actually could snipe. Requiring elevation and windage adjustments would force people to either learn how or give it up. Then regardless of the amount or types of rifles there would be a smaller group of people actively looking for and using long range rifles. Depending on if I considered that area "Mine" or if it was near a strategic resource, food/water/shelter that I wanted and/or also considered "Mine" Your group can only be as big as you can support, tough call but thems the ropes. My food for your mouth when I don't have enough isn't conducive to my survival but reversed is...dig? Don't know about it being damaged over time. To make them look natural you usually need to beat them up and get them grizzly so they look like the environment. After that, simple upkeep. Maybe require rope, burlap, glue/tape, and foliage to be readded but I don't know about degrading it over time and forcing a new one to be constructed or you'll reenforce the idea of people burning every last minute of it's lifespan behind the scope.

    Surrender Animation should make players lootable

    Would alleviate some tension on both ends if this were the case. You can't effective ensure your safety without handcuffs even with someone complying to orders. And it's not an unreasonable request upon bumping into someone and frisking rather than handcuffing and starting a doom clock in that person's head as to when and how you're going to finish them off even if you have no intent.

    ArmA 3 Stances in DayZ

    I've seen a cath placed into someone's artery, the pressure is someone you'd think would only happen in movies...10~ foot spurt up from the ac, had me giggling and going "Oh, someone better apply pressure" ;p besides the form being heavily combat oriented, anyone could learn the proper form with minimal instruction.
