A new idea to stop the "kill-on-sight" mentality

search function. try it some time. Also, there is not a realistic way to limit ones character with real world knowledge. Since the game is both immersive and meta and player skill == character skill, to quote Ralph Wiggum, "That's Unpossible". -

1pp at night is thrilling. I used to mess with gamma to even the playing field but a few patches ago something changed and night, no matter what settings I alter, is just fuckin' night. Depending on the area I usually have a good 5-10m visibility, sometimes more or less. I rarely if ever use a light source. Terrain plays a huge part on visibility too, open fields and some parts of the forests are significantly brighter and easier to see in. Urban areas, with no lights, are generally the darkest. I tend to abandon urban scavenging unless I'm fresh and head for some of the smaller towns/remote military areas. Only been in a few firefights at night, mostly one sided. Stalking is fun, good ambushes too. I don't think I was the only one affected recently because I've stalked very close to a few people and was completely unseen.

Carry all the weapons and ammo you want for now, most fights don't even last a full mag anyway. You'd just be a suppy drop with legs for someone like me.

there are supposed to be two different bushes, yielding two different berries. one safe to eat and one poisonus. -
I can definitely attest to that, still rocking a dual core pos. cpu bogs down before my gpu...moneies why you no grow on tree?

also, the engine is very cpu demanding. turn off all non-essential running programs, you could be experiencing system lag not netlag.

with my isp I've found a few servers that have a stable ping. stable for me is 80-150, but stable only if the variance is +/- 50ish. i've tried some servers which report in the 60 range but they fluctuate too much, causing lag spikes. find something stable.

if you single click a highlighted server in the browser it will reping. if there's a variance of more than 50 move on to the next one. no need to even log into the server to check. find a server that has a stable ping, play there.

alt ctrl del, alt f4, physical disconnect via router, or disconnect in game is all the same. patch notes for next build looks like the logout location with login location should be fixed.

Saw a pristine green hard hat and orange raincoat...I couldn't resist running around like a retarded beacon. All I was missing was a pt belt, for safety.

It really depends on the server. High pop with high turnover, and more time between restarts, like the experimental servers tend to go dry quickly. I died a few times on them in a scramble for food, nothing from the coast to Novy or anywhere in between. Other times, no problem at all. Just depends on how ransacked the server gets.

He, and his friends, can't server hop to gear up or combat log and ghost on people anymore.

Would like to see permanent markers for this and other surfaces, pens...not so good.

The problem I think some are experiencing is that they think of this as "punishment" for the way they play, connection, servers, or whathaveyou. It's not the case at all. As a means to curb exploits that the engine itself is limited in managing and this, for now, is a valid and effective means to do so. Perfect? no, but until better comes along this will do the job pretty well. There are two timers that were implemented. 1.) Logout timer to stop combat logging 2.) Login timer to stop ghosting and server hoppers You sir, are the one who is wrong. -

This is exactly what was tested and abused. I find a good position, hit my logout timer. If nobody shows, abort and start it again. If somebody shows, gain tactical advantage or logout. OR I'm fired upon. I flee and take cover and start my logout timer. If the attacker doesn't show, either logout or abort and restart it. If they show either gain a tactical advantage or logout. The end result is a complete bypass of the purpose. It was tested. Did not pass the mustard. So, this is what we have now. -

There's quite a few people who's only issue with the current implementation is that they just don't know if they made it out alive or not. They don't care if it happens, would just like to know that it happened. I can see their point, but personally I'd rather not know. All swifter the kick upon the realization that I fucked up and am at day zero again. -
So you want to be able to switch to server, after server, after server at your leisure? Correct?

That will not stop people from using alt f4, same issue as the mod. People would still combat log. No good.

been playing experimentals, so any of the hardcore servers. stable, usually 3-4 hardcore, depending on server pop

Your friends sound like class acts. You should get more friends like that. Everyone should. But seriously, how about sort that shit out before you go joining a server? use ts, mumble, skype, telephone, radio, telegraph, or a freakin' can with a string in it and find a server, all join. Shit man, that's freakin' common sense.
