  1. I think 3rd Person view should be tweaked so that people can't "cheat" by using 3rd person to look around walls, etc. I don't mind the 3rd person view, per se, but if you're concealing yourself behind a wall and someone can see you (and hadn't seen you prior, so don't even know you're there), that's rather crappy. And similarly, if you're hiding you shouldn't be able to see someone sneaking up behind you. So I suggest having whatever you couldn't see in 1st person blacked out or something when you're in 3rd person

How To Use M4A1 Knife ?

Well I own an M9 (It's attached to my Mossberg for home-defense reasons), and it came pretty damn sharp. It was made by Ontario, so maybe different manufacturers do it a little differently or something? You can't really shave with it, but I was semi-shaving hairs off my arms (not like a close shave or anything). It's a nice bayonet. Not as nice as the OKC-3S bayonet (for the Marines), but the M9 bayonet is a valuable tool.

How To Use M4A1 Knife ?

The Mosin bayonet (M91) in real life is nothing more than a sharp square tip, like a screw driver. Its "blade" (you can't really call it that, tho) is cruciform with 4 unsharpened edges. It was designed for stabbing only. The wikis don't really note this, but if you slice with a real M91 bayonet, it would be akin to hitting someone with a metal screw or spike. Better than nothing, I suppose. Opening a can of beans with an M91 would entail needing a heavy object or rock to hammer it in, or I suppose placing the bayonet upside down on the ground (solid, hard) and striking down with the can on the bayonet. How does this play into game mechanics? I dunno, but an M91, in real life, is no knife. Just a long, heavy screwdriver.

    Mosin

If it's not already in the game (can someone confirm/deny?), I'd like to see them put in the Mosin M44 Carbine. :) It has an already-attached, foldable bayonet (as opposed to the M38, which had no bayo, and was made to prevent existing bayonets from attaching). It's less accurate than the 91/30 Mosin, but because it's shorter. Given that most combat seems to take place within fairly short distances, (i.e., not many 400m shootouts), I'd take the M44 over the 91/30. Most modern combat is going away from the bayo, but honestly in a zombie situation like in DayZ with limited ammo, I'd use my gun/bayo as a short spear/polearm and save on ammo, and most especially when you're out of ammo. I tend to like modern bayonets that are dual-purpose (knife and spearpoint), but if I had to pick a bayo vs nothing, I'd rather have a stick with a bayo on it.

    Mosin

For what it's worth, I have a Mosin Nagant in real life, and it's pretty accurate. It got more accurate when I attached its bayonet. The bayo must change the barrel's frequency or something, or the extra weight, or I dunno, but I was iron-sighting my targets easily at 100m with no modifications (other than the bayo), and all my shots were on paper. (still talking real life here) I don't know the game's mechanics, because I'm still fairly new and haven't found one yet. Does the game require you to clean off all the cosmoline grease before you can shoot it? :)
  6. How much ammo do you guys shoot for (pun intended!) before you think "eh screw it, I'll just walk around all cocky like, let the zombies come". I'm not talking about bandits, so if you're on a low pop server (or everyone's sleeping so you're gathering stuff), what's your goal on ammo counts before you stop sneaking around and go all Rick Grimes on things?

    Dealing With Loss

I used to play on an old MUD where you had to apply for characters, get them approved, and had perma-death. So when you died you had to wait, often times days, before you could play again. I'm not trying to minimize the losses of this game when you die, but at least we don't have to wait several days after dying before being able to respawn :)

    I finally saw another player...

My guess is because right now the players who are here are likely dedicated to the game, knowing how fun it is, etc. The masses, the people most likely to gank you, aren't willing to fork over $30 for a game in alpha stage :) I'm still paranoid, myself, having heard the horror stories. Just the other night I saw a player sprinting down the road. I didn't know how to hail them, so I just hid and waited for them to get out of site. I also saw a zombie standing around and then *sprinted* off, so my guess is it saw another player. Unless zombies are prone to random sprinting? :)
