How about a pistol + short weapon (knife/hammer/sickle etc) so that you can shoot with lower accuracy (due to single hand) but also slash and smash skulls if attacked by zeds?
-
As said above, mate-spawning would lead to many abuses like quick gear retrieving. Finding your friends is not that hard, no meter if you use teamspeak or steam or whatever. Just tell each other before you start playing that you meet at X and go there. What's the big problem? And no, spawning together is not realistic, because as spawning with nothing at the coast suggest, we are castaways.

I think it could be that when you press R once, you only remove magazine, check it (number pops up in chat or somewhere on the screen) and oput it back into the gun, and pressing R two times makes a full reload.
-
Indeed, there should be an option to check your ammo. In fact HUD should not tell you number of bullets unless you press a certain button which would cause you to open or take mag out and check. Source mod "Resistance and Liberation" has this implemented and it's bloody awesome :)

Well I see why OP started the topic and I agree that with some features DayZ just goes too far. I know it's supposed to be realistic and difficult and blah blah blah, but fun alway needs to be considered as well. Hearts attack is (in my opinion) to much because it leads to adding other diseases and in the end we will get random deaths of cancer, strokes, AIDS and God knows what. It's just not necessery. As for broken legs, I have no problem with it, as it works properly. Just two days ago I broke my leg while walking up the stairs in firestation. But if you remember to keep rags and sticks in your backpack, it's fine. Just some basic precaustions. Speaking of guns, we do need guns to be more rare and ammo even more rare. Right now SKS ammo is more popular than food. This way you need about 10-15 minutes to get enough ammo to kill each and every zombie on map and commit 3 murders on every player. So guns and ammo (especially military-grade) should be uber rare, while some basic, civilian weapons like small caliber pistols, shotguns and single shot rifles could be more common. But all this should not happen until damage system is fixed. I had quite a situation at Balona recently, I had an m4 and was hiding in bushes. I was discovered by guy with axes. And guess what, I had to run from him, and when I finally stoped and put about 10 bullets in guys chest, nothing happened. Absolutely. He was running in straight line towards me and he didn't fucking die. He just kept running and provided my with an axe headshot. Another day I was with my friends in Electro (5 guys with guns) and were attacked by a man with axe. Really? Guy with axe running at 5 armed survivors? Ok, whatever. But how the hell did he survive a full frontal 5 meters shotgun shot? Long story short, we need to fix weapons damage (this involves making wrenches and machetes actually deal serious damage) first and then make high-tier weapons uber rare and add some weaker civilian weapons to be found (with some searching). Ammo then should be a treasure for you. You got a 30 rounds mag for your m4 - you're a badass, but don't be so happy as you won't find another in next few days.

So I had long range scope and rifle and died of thirst ...
yogi92 replied to tornsage's topic in New Player Discussion
Really? Is it even possible to die because of thirst in this game? I have never lost a single health point because of hunger/thirst. -
That would be going to far in my opinion. Resting after couple kilometers of run is a must, but having to take your shoes off and taking a bath is trying to turn this game into The Sims sequel... As I always say, realism is good if it doesn't spoil the fun, which this suggestions does for me.

I don't mean to say NO, but DayZ is supposed to be player-controlled. Because of this, making an in-game system of currency/trading would break that rule, If you need to trade, you can exchange items with players but no need to have a system for that. Of course it's extremely dangeours to meet people and drop your stuff but hey, that's the part of fun. ;)

If we have colorful helmets, why not have colorful paramedic vests? I'm totally for this idea :)

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
yogi92 replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
For the last too pages people were bitching about Rust and about people bitching about update not being ready. As far as I saw, only one other person was wondering about whether stable will appear today and no clear answer was given. -
Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
yogi92 replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
I have a simple question. If what's going on today is an update for an experimental branch, then what the hell have they been doing for like a month now? They have announced an update long time ago and now they only put it on experimental, so that we have to wait for another 2 weeks? -
Servers restart every 4 hours, sometimes sooner I guess, but 99 out of 100 servers is 4 hours cycle. As for my 73 hours of gameplay, I have met no hacker. I have no experience with nether, and 7 days is a fun game, but with poorer graphics, but with strong survival aspect. Zombies are darn tough, they can climb, break etc and you really need to fight for food and resources. For now, if you can find a good server for playing 7 days, I'd go for that. But I hope DayZ will become equally hard some day :)

Proposed name for an as yet unnamed town in the far NW...
yogi92 replied to crazykage's topic in Suggestions
странногород, or as written in latin alphabet: strannogrod sounds awesome to me :) -
Loot respawn is not a problem here. Probability is. We can have dynamic respawns, but will lower chances.
-
I think that once temperature and illnesses will be implemented, your character will react a certain way, like sneezing, heavy breath or something.
-
It's not like "zombies are weak, let's remove them" but rather "zombies are weak, let's enhance and multiply them". They are to become one of the main threats. And don't worry about performance, it will be handled for sure

Server filtering (3PP/1PP) and other suggestions
yogi92 replied to JackNSally's topic in Suggestions
It's not that unopenable doors have an open/close action. The icon you see comes from a door on lower floor. -
You should ask that at "DayZ Mod" section of the forum. You're in "DayZ standalone" section now.

I think they were called walkie-talkie all the time. Anyway, you need to put a battery inside, then turn it on and set a frequency (all by right clicking) and then you can change your voice channel with come and period buttons.
-
Yes, because zombies and m4 is not mainstream in games ;)

Does anything spawn in the really tall apartment buildings?
yogi92 replied to thequantum's topic in New Player Discussion
An elevator is stuck somewhere in the middle of these buildings, it usually contains clothes. -
@ROCKET: about integration of "snow terrain" in dayz-sa
yogi92 replied to timedance's topic in Suggestions
To be honest, I like the idea of having a mountain range blocking your path to high loot stuff. You either cross is, risking getting cold or something, or go all the way around, which would take 2x or 3x as much time.
