yeah haha. someone made a thread about every single house being looted on those test servers anyway. obviously with so many players on them... rolling back to stable version now for the second time. -

please read the previous posts. there was no update. it got delayed due to a bug they found.

it's a cool idea, but super heavy on the servers, especially if the zombie would still carry all the items and wear the exact same clothes. maybe in the future, but right now it's out of the question. the reason they made the 10 min cleanup time for bodies is the same. just plain dead bodies decreased the server performance too much.

that's not actually such a bad idea. i still don't like the 100% randomness. there should be some areas where it's more likely to find certain type of items, but there should be a small possibility to find almost anything in civil buildings too. maybe not the highest tier stuff, but most stuff. heck, ammunition already spawns in supermarkets and mosins spwan in hotel rooms.

how did you come to the conclusion that spawns are not legit, but hopping is? according to your logic, they are both legit since they are there.

the only proper way. don't forget to wear your DayZ-ushanka. -
yeah just a timer. if you want to leave, you'd have to wait for 30 sec or 1 minute no matter what (you can't move your character during this time, so you better find a safe spot). you could also leave your character unattended on the server for the said time, if you want to leave the game quickly and you are sure that you are in the safe spot (you don't have to watch and wait for the timer to go up). no one would even think about starting the logoff timer in a firefight then. alt+f4 would also start the timer, and auto-logoff the character only after the timer is up, even if the players client is being shut down. actually, that would practically take even longer time, since the server would wait for a response from a client for some time before initiating the logoff timer automatically. maybe if the server can't recieve any messages from a client for 10 seconds. if it's just a communication problem, you could cancel the logoff timer manually. it can't be any kind of "radius check" solution, since you could use it as a radar to check areas.

server hopping is taking the fun of discovery out of this game. i'm server hopping as long as it's possible, since it's the only way to keep up with others. i'm more than happy to start roaming the map to earn loot legitimately when it's removed. they should do what ever it takes to kill server hopping.

when they add some more relevant content to it. right now it's just a deathmatch arena. easy to gear up with server hopping, so nothing really matters. when they add survival time counter (and average survival time counter), remove server hopping and iron out the most pestering bugs, it's time to start trying imo. you might lose your gear suddenly, be a victim of bug-related death, or be a victim of some other bug (i was once trapped in a non-accessible part of the house and couldn't get out), so you might aswell go rampage before it happens.

yeah. running in the woods when geared up to your teeth is also boring. you eventually want some action.
