"in centuries past"...thats the sentence^^ like I said, 2000 years ago, that was ok....^^ The metric system that is based on the decimal system: 10mm = 1 cm; 10 cm=1dm; 10dm=1m etc. which makes sense for all kind of measurements. Same goes for the weight. for sure it's also not a perfect system because it starts somewhere in the middle and not at at the maximum (because unlimited) and not at the minimum (because unknown, especially at the time of creation.) but it's logical. Whiloe the imperial system has no numeric base on which it works... And I didn't wanted to be "an ass"... @Meatshield: Sorry ;) Didn't want to step on your feets. Sometimes the rant gets me^^ -

true :) And if you have a gun you can get rid of them...for some seconds before even more come XD Oh and tip for experimental: DOn't wear anything valuable in your vest/hoodie/raincoat/whatever covers your chest. I got some cans of food ruined by zombie hits, because they aim now for your chest instead of your head... -

1. Quislings: Insane humans who imitate zombies, they could be like zombies but less clumsy and better at fighting O.o I do that sometimes, but but nobody falls for it...i want a "imitate zombie" animation^^ 2. Ferals: Humans, often children who have lost their parents, that have devolved into animals and will try to kill you. They could be like zombies but use melee weapons and are more intelligent. 3. LMOEs: "Last man on Earth" solitary humans living on their own in the wilderness. Well, these 2 points I can answer with asomethign Dean said: He wants to be the Players to be the only living, not infected humans in DayZ. They are normally insane with loneliness. However, you can assume that the LMOEs are the players. *lol* 4. Feral packs: Packs of feral domestic dogs (not wolves) who hunt and kill survivors. Possibly could be the most dangerous things in game other than players. dogs will come...but as companions. Maybe there also will be feral dogs introduced as well.would be nice... 5. F-Lions or 'Flies': These are domestic cats that have grown in to about double the size of a normal cat due to natural selection. They are called 'flies' because they appear to be able to fly. They either drop from trees or make massive pouncing attacks from cover. These probably wouldn't be able to kill you but can you imagine how scary it would be to be walking through the woods and have a bloodthirsty kitty just come out of no where? Not again the cat thread^^ And DayZ isn't set that far in the future that natural selection can bring out a breed of huge flying cats O.o But on the other hand...cats can survive without humans, sicne (in comparism to dogs) most of them are still able to hunt their food alone...or eat their owners when they are dead -

Suggestion: Learn the metric system in your spare time. It's not that hard because it's logical. I mean...really...feet? 20000 bc called, they want their measuring units back. ah...sry. I just hate imperial system, had to work with it once (as a programmer) for a customer from america and that guy argfued with me that the imperial system is so much better, and it freaked me out how anyone can use a system that's based of...nothing in fact. Not based on 2 or 10 or 16, but just...well like someone would say: "meh, if i extend my arm to the side and put the thumb downwards, the distance from my thumb to my big toe is called from now on "the Jack" and is the new measuring unit, for smaller distances we take the length of my thumb as new unit and call it thumbjack..."...ah it got me again... ...so....calm again...I'm pretty average: 185 cm, 90kg and played (like most europeans) soccer in a club for 15+ years, so, as said, pretty normal physique. But I also KO'd one guy when I was younger (normally I'm a pacifist...but well, if he punches me, i'll punch back), I think it was quite lucky, because some years later I went for some years to Thai-boxing lessons and I never managed a OHKO in a training fight there.. -
[Experimental] New Spawns

Hm of 2 spawns on .42 I Spawned one time at my usual spot, where I spawn 90% of the times: South of Solnychnyi (where the inland path to the three valleys is) and the other time on Krutoy Cap (and now I'm sitting in Elektro with my pants on. Ha!)...but as said, since I nearly always spawn at the fist mentioned lcation I couldn't point a finger at which is a new spawn point... -

Well...they don't spawn because of noise, they respawn and are attracted by it. So if you kill a Z somewhere in the woods where he ended up because he chased another player and lost him, he will respawn...well, i'm not sure, but I guess close to his old spawn point... If you shoot a Z in, let's say Electro, other Zeds that are already spawned will be attracted and hunt you down, and they respawn fast (some seconds?) bhut oputside of your sight normally, but inside hearing range, so they will hear you and come again for you etc. etc. ;) Or did you have the Amphipia pistol? because that one is silenced...but the rifle...hm I think it should attract Zs...^^ Edit: And it seems the 22 is bugged, check this: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/179082-22lr-damage-is-absurd/ It's the kitchen knife of the rifles ;) -
Ahm...on experimental? No wait, I play on experimental and not even there I have to restart often. And on stable...well once as metnioned before in this thread, but never again. Either it's your pc or you are hopping and disguise it...

Nah. They invaded it because the religious fanatic woman didn't care to cover the tracks, so they found it. They let the dog die (in the book as well :( mean bastards) but this butterfly-tattoed "i can hear god speak now that's so quiet" idiot survives. Yeah... -

Not only the jaw line. Also behind the ear, the temple, even the cheekbone/eye if you hit it right....i think the only impossible way to land a knockout punch is hitting straight against the forehead...that will only hurt your fists. Oh, idea...ArmPainAche (yep, that's how a broken arm is called if you didn't know^^) could result in such a bare-hand-hit....well not the armPainAche but maybe FingerPainAche?^^ Imagine a situation like this:"He is coming for us, pull the trigger!" "I CANT! I have FingerPainAche!" With that being said, it's strange and only a bug I assume) that you can't knockout someone wearing a hard helmet, but OHKO someone that wears a ballistic helmet... -
kragz, did I ever tell you, that you are toxic? If not: You are toxic and your posts are useless or just plain wrong. Congratulations, you are even for the low standards of this forum an example for bad attitude and even worse manners. And if you can't enjoy the game unless you have a gun it's the wrong game for you. Edit: EVERY alf pic in HISTORY would have contributed more to this discussion than your post. In fact a single alf pic from h0nkx is contributiong more to this forum than any of your 149 posts.

Wear a motorcycle helmet or a Hard helmet. Both prevent you from getting knocked out by bare fists... And on the other hand... And Yers. Maybe a randomized shock value for head hits with bare fists, where OHKO are possible but not the standard? -

Well, there are three possibilities that I see: It was found and noted and it is worked on, but it wasn't seen as gamebreaking enough for the experimental (but enough for the stable), so stable delayed, experimental for testing purposes got itIt was not found because it happens only if your ping is higher than...whatever the internals have (pretty low i assume....that's always a tester mistake...because they have to find everything fast, they have good computers, very good connection etc., so these things are missed)It didn't occur on internal because of server issues (like the memory leak) -
No, just don't post them at nigth when my gf is sleeping and I laugh out loud because of a sudden alf pic in a pointless thread and wake her up with that ;) And I'm pretty sure animals are not in .42, so no hunting, no meat... Alf discussion cleverly disguised as on-topic posts. Ha!

Well...on the one hand: The new melee system looks awesome...like when you swing a baeball bat. You swing it like you mean it ;) But on the other hand: You can't hit anythign with soem weapons now (on experimental)...like the crowbar or the pipe wrench, because their range is like...well...as if you would carry them in your mouth, shorter than your arms. Tested it like this: Sneaked up to a Z from behind until I BUMPED into it and could not go any further (thanks for the old AI it didn't notice me...) Tried to hit it with the crowbar...and missed, no matter where I aimed. Only chance to hit them with these weapons iswhile THEY attack YOU, because they come closer than you can it seems. And also: Fire extinguisher, hoes and pitchforks. All three awesome weapons, the last two with a good range as well (and a 1 hit knockout to the head, 2 to the body) -

I can't confirm that. If I had to guess, I'd say I always look inland (west for 90% of the time) when I spawn, but I haven't paid much attention to it tbh...

h0nkx where is my alf pic? I came back to the thread because i thought you posted one! *disappointed* And there are more than 40 servers, because they recently ADDED 40 servers (some wou'll never see because they are in australia or asia or somewhere the ping is so high, they wouldn't show up if you wait for an hour at the server list) And I have played 4 freshspawns on experimental this week (2 times wiped, one time killed, last one still alive) and none of them was ever starving or even hungry (well except for the first 10 minutes or so after spwaning)...

True. I never ever had real lag/desync issues but on exp I have them all: From stuttering, to lags to desyncs...exp is just not meant to play. It's meant to test. -
I have to say: Since the timers are in, i haven't been ghosted anymore. (but i kileld some combatloggers that weren't aware of the timers. Oh the joy ;)) But regarding server hopping: You are right, the tiemrs ARE too weak. I'd say make them even harder. 10 minutes if you leave a server under one hour of play and if you do it twice in a row, the penalties accumulate e.g. You are on the first server, leave it instantly. Wait ten minutes to join 2nd server. You join there, stay for some minutes and leave it. Gives you a penalty of 9 minutes. You want to join a 3rd server, waiting time: 19 minutes (10+9)....etc. etc. That will STILL not fix server hopping, but it will reduce it, I guess. Another thing that will reduce it is loot respawn....i wait so hard for that feature. And as usual, I say: I hope they put it in, the way they announced it, with a small amount of loot spawning on server start, everything else is random timed to spawn and if something is taken it gets again a random timer as it were an initial spawn...and maybe (even if Hicks said that it would be hard to implement), that the timer gets smaller (a little bit) the more people are on a server...

Good man, don't use the map, it reduces the fun a LOT (and it's not really up to date - the loot spawn things are completly wrong in the mean time etc.) Hm, if you don't play experimental: Most cities (even smaller ones) have there a police station now, where you usually can find a gun or ammunition (and ammunition is never rare^^) And shooting in a town is a LOT of fun, because Zeds respawn and are attracted by noise. So killing one Z with a gun means that there will be coming 3 or 4 at you, and if you take them out even more...^^ As you said: No, the ballistic helmet doesn't help. That might be a bug that it doesn't provide a shock-armor while the hard hat, that covers even less of your head, does... Ah, I think I took the wrong words: motorcycle helmet/hard hat prevents you from being knocked out with bare fists, nothing else^^ And kill someone with bare fists when he wears a motorcycle helmet/hard hat? Hm...I don't know. If you hit him often enough he will go unconsciouss in some hours or so...but chances are way bigger that he knocks you unconscious before...or that someone coems by and just shoots both of you ;) But these two helmets don't give resistance (well a little bit) against bullets or stronger melee attacks - so they will die on the spot without getting unconscious first...or even get unconscious first. -

Alpha. I mean...experimental! Damn! But I had the same issue and (since i didn't found an existing one) made a bug report about it. I guess it's because of the new melee animations... On the other hand, no zombie has hit me from 5 meteres away...the always try to stand on my feet before the punch at me... And it will be fixed...well you will have to make your melee weapon "ready" if you want to swing it (just like you have to put your gun up), but what will be fixed is, that it isn't put up automatically if you leftclick, just like the guns...and the zombie attacks are also being overhauled (I hope soon...together with the AI^^) gnahaha I just remember the first major update to the respawn system when there were suddenly hundreds of zeds in every town and you could do NOTHING against them, because, well, no matter how good equipped you were, they killed you always if you were alone. And their ability to break your leg with one hit on a 50% chance so that you lie there while the other 20 zeds finished the job....XD ah, memories...
