Etherimp: Well. It's not a form of cheating for me, but I can understand why people might look at it that way: It gives you an unfair advantage over players which rely only on the possibilities given by the game and not external programs.... But as said before: That topic has been discussed here 50 times. Maybe 100.

Nice but sad post OP. May I add just some thoughts that I had while reading it, if you don't mind? If you do, just skip the text ;) I have died to single persons...2 times in a "fair" fight: one was shooting me down when I tried to enter NWAF barracks armed with....a fire extinguisher, the other one was really amazing: a guy ambushed me and my buddy in the factory area in the northwest of NWAF [who the heck goes there? At night?], shot my buddy down and had an intense some minutes lasting fight in darkness, he with a M4, me with my old Magnum, he ahd the better end for himself in the end, but I wasn't even mad) And 2 or 3 times by snipers (where I can't tell if they were alone or not) "Its really just frustrating to me that I spend a few hours on a character gathering items together on servers barely populated" Here is the key. Don't do that. You will have a total different experience if you avoid low pop servers (and imho also regular) like hell, especially if you only go there just to gear up. That's boring (for me) Running around, searching for loot while knowing that the chances that you will meet anyone are very low. Really, I just watch for 2 things when I enter a server: (fresh spawn or char with 30+ hours, doesn't matter) : ping below 70 and population above 20, better 30. Because when you see "gearing up" as a process you have to do before you can enjoy the game, you will very often feel bad - because every char in DayZ ether ends dead or logged off and never logged in again... Instead, also when you are a freshspawn, join a server with 30+ persons. Yes, it will be hard to find loot. Yes, chances are good that you will be ambushed, shot, axed, whatever before you find even something to open cans...or even cans. But gearing up is not the main goal or the premise before you can start playing "really". Playing is the main goal of plaing DayZ. Just take it from that point of view: You are stranded there. You try to survive there. There are Zombies, there are other humans that are still alive and there is not much left in this world. Oh...and don't got to electro. Or cherno. Or berezino. ;) I bet, everytime you died was either in one of these cities or at an AF. I don't think, that these people camp...Msta. Or Polana. Or even Zelenogorsk. Because...well...not enough people - and who wants to wait maybe for HOURS in an empty city to ambush a lonewolf?^^ ;) For some strange reason I always meet people in Gorka...but 90% lonewolves that went inland and are working their way slowly towards NWAF, sometiems a group of 2 or 3...but I never got ambushed (or even attacked) by them, since the guys you meet there are not PvP focussed. Sure shit hit the fan one or two times there as well, but I was never camped and killed in the way you described :) And the other thing is the "out of game communication"...this topic was discussed here SO often and in the end, there are always just 2 things left: There is no way to effectively forbid it and the only possibility to make it fair would be to set the ingame voicechat to always on. But heck, if they really want to do that, they will mute their mic and make a phone-conference. And if it is no fun for you at the moment...take a break :) The wodnerful thing about DayZ for me is, that it's one of 2 games (from the hundreds, maybe thousands i have played) that makes me come back again and again and again, even if I take a break for some weeks or months. The other one is minecraft btw... So...thanks for the post and your thoughts, maybe give that "not gearing up on low pop servers as premise to "really" start playing" I described a chance and otherwise take your break and come back soon :)

Because they can lock all people out of the server and play with their friends, kick cheater and...well....spawn 10.000 vehicles :) Nah I'm just kidding, but I also don't understand why a private hive is any good against a bug exploit of an alpha...

Why not? Sure. Colored bandages, are like...hm...well, if all would wear the same colored motorcycle helmets...or berets...or hats...or shirts... Hell, I don't care if you spraypaint your face red (or half blue braveheart style) if it makes you happy and as long as the game doesn't forces you to do that for some reason like "You killed 3 people. God/Allah/Buddha/the FSM/Kurt makes your face red now." -

Every week or so this thread is resurrected, stomped into the ground, goes to page 4 or 5....rinse, repeat. I put this in words, that might be understood: The OP may like to have such a system. The majority of forum users (and , just guessing, players in general) don't want it. It is not intended by the devs. Maybe it will happen in mods (i'm pretty sure it will), which will happen in privat hives, which will happen after the release. Until then...let this thread die. Please. -
Solving problem of kill on sight - Vehicles.

We could solve the problem with KoS if we gave him some more vodka, until he can't type anymore and... ...what? wrong KoS?...oh... Yeah, I just wanted not to say "strange idea" as in "more content will solve KoS" - like The End. pointed out: "And what if players have all end-game gear AND vehicles? Will they... run over on sight?" They key to reduce the part of KoS that evolves out of boredom is not more content but a harder game. The more unforgiving the environment is, the harder it is to stay alive and to acquire loot, the more people have to do to actually stay alive, the less bored they are, so they wont spend hours sniping, waiting for someone in electro etc. -

Someone on reddit made an Album on houses that spawn loot again (before exp servers went down again) : http://imgur.com/a/Rok3P btw... I love the fact that rocket sometimes writes too much on reddit...he always gives out information unintentionally it seems ;) Sure, NV models (leftovers) could be found in the game files and it has already been said that collision and pathfinding will be worked on...but hey, first time I heard a dev actually talk about NVs or that the wall glitch may finally really be fixed sooner than I thought ;) ...and I love the discussion in Why is DayZ So Inefficient in Processing? ;) -

The first QQ thread about too many and too hard Zombies in Dayz has occured on reddit. And while I wait for one in this forum *sheds a tear of joy* I'll share this gem with you: Oh the joy that such posts bring to me... -> happy panda is happy :) Edit: before it starts again: Yes the respawning mechanic is too simple. Yes, they shouldn't spawn in your sight. Yes, the shouldn't spawn already aggroed by you. And I think these things will all be considered, since the implemented spawn mechanic is only a first prototype :) And yes, i have played on exp, and no, it never happened to me that a Z spaned in my sight or that a spawned aggroed by me (I'm not sure on this one totally. May heard me, may not. It seems to happen.) Yes, Z wall glitch is bad. I know that. Everybody knows that.

Ah, i understand that concern and where you come from, because it's so typical for arma-games...but well, as usual i may be concerned, but i still hope/think that it will be resolved :)

Welp. I didn't mean it that way: Yes, DayZ is tactical and can have tactical combat situations - I just wanted to say that I abstain from a tactical combat tool if a 1st person view is more fun to me, since it makes me "feel" the game more ;) -
Happens. It sucks, but it happens. I don't wanna scream "Alpha" now, but ...you know... Well...lose stuff to a bug...it's...you know.... And now for real: Gearing up is part of the game, but not the goal and if you consider gearing up "work"...well....you wont have much fun (except you love work ;)) since your char will die sooner or later. And as Katana said: Don't get attached to your gear. Never. The only way you can be sure to keep it is to log off and never ever log in again. So...well...play :)

I don't like 3pp but that's a personal preference. Why? Immersion. But if people like it, they should play that way. That's why there are regular and hardcore hives, where you can't switch views. "a tactical tool"...well....since DayZ (for me) is neither a shooter nor a tactical combat simulator I prefer immersion over tactical tools. But well, if everyone can do it (and everyone can on regular)...meh. You can't win DayZ. There is no victory condition. -

The title alone confused the heck out of me. A KoS Clan, called "Mr. gets Butt kicked" by Bots ? A Kos Clan called: "Mr. gets Butt kicked by Bots"? A KoS Clan called "Mr. gets Butt kicked by Bots"? (btw thats an awesome clan name o.O) But I got it...the KoS Clan is called "Mr" and they got their butts kicked by a clan named BOTs... -

That's really weird - because I had the same issue until the hotfix and now I haven't it encountered it again. And I hope that there will come even more tweaks for Zs apart from the announced like...military Zs with helmets that don't die instantly to an axe hit ;)

That`s the intention ;) you want two "main"weapons, you gotta sacrifice something for it... Hell, i hope some kund of "sling" system comes and replaces the "glued to the back" weapons...find&craft a sling/weaponbag/whatever or carry it in your hands and lay it down when you want to use something... -
I played yesterday evening (stable, since there is no exp atm) and did not experience any lag/desync issues - imho its smoother than ever before....but maybe thats just my impression. But yes, they still have issues with stairs and will glitch through them often, but on the other hand, they seem not be able to punch you through the floor anymore :)

Just watch where they are looking...and go behind them -> Problem solved ;) Played today a little bit, but had some strange luck: Found an SKS and all in all 20 bullets, but no melee weapon except for a pipe wrench. Well...since, shooting Zs is no good idea and the wrench is an absolute disaster I had to be very carefully, but I thought I just try my luck and go for Berezino. I was hit by 3 or 4 Zs before I even came close to the city, but I managed to take em down and get in, scavenging the houses fast and silent, always watching out to not attract any Zs...and it worked. Some other guy was not so lucky...I never saw him alive, but he wasn't far away, maybe only across the street, I heard him shoot (a Mosin I guess) 3,4,5 shots, after that a Magnum, all 6 Bullets...and silence. Since he was so nice to attract all Zs I could speed up (I saw 2 Zs punching the ground in house later on...guess that was him. Poor bastard.) and finally I found a Pitchfork (all hail the Piano building! ;)) and from that on, it was easy. Kill Z, run a little, loot. Repeat. :)

Normally I play on experimental, I was gone for the weekend, logged in today (on stable since there is no exp atm), my char is still alive...but Senchi buried him under a rock formation O.o And no, no vaulting, crawling w/e did help. My poor char survived that long just to die now...meh -.- And it will take hours since he is totally healthy... -
Yes...no...both. A working security camera/speaker would need electricity, maybe if you could set up a little battery? But you still would have to have someone watching the monitors. So, why not have someone just watching the gate?^^ A nice idea, but I don't see the value here...Barricading an existing base...well...maybe? Since barricading will come in, if your team is big enough and you put enough time and effort in it to collect everything, build it and keep it free from intruders...why not? Caves? Some are already in as mentioned before and since the map is worked on all the time, we'll see more I'm sure ;) Hm. Hmmmmmmmm. Well.....that's a thing that needs consideration of 3 things: Persistent objects, persistent housing and physics. Last one is coming in, but the other two...well...persistent objects will come but not in a way that Paintings (or other objects) will stay in place for...well ever. And Housing...hm...barricading will come, barricade an existing house... Boil water or purify it so you don't get sick: Will be in rather soon I believe. Desalination...well...not heard of any plans for it, but maybe? And matches are in, maybe other ways to light a fire will come to....who knows? Would be fun. Haven't heard about it, but well, fire will come, maybe set something on fire will be possible at any point? About the improvised torch...hm....well....maybe? Swamps are in...well....some kind at least. And fog, I think it may come in at well ;)
