    Population Control, Plz Help.

    1) No. More stress on the servers is actually a good thing because it means that a) The server architecture/server software can be observed in any form possible and b)more people in an alpha = more bugs found faster, new things get faster tested ina very large variety etc. 2) No, I'm pretty sure the Beta will be the same as the alpha. And the finished game ;)

Reads dumb jokes and a mean parody, but instead of being insulted he sees the point I was trying to make and answers clear and friendly. And sorry for the Nazijoke (more a too strong exaggeration than a joke) - I thought about it after i posted and thought that it was unappropriate, sorry for that again. Mismanagement and is always a danger for any bigger project afaik. And its good that you try to reason and show it, so that maybe something can be done against it - if it is as you assume and not too late. Well these "lofty goals with an extremely ambitious time frame" is just what we know - I haven't seen the intern roadmap or the milestones, so I can't really say something about this. "Each update will cause expected behaviors and unexpected behaviors when it comes to gameplay." - true. Thats why it is first in experimental and if it doesnt crash everything, after that still...in an alpha ;) "I think that as we're satisfied with the game currently they shouldn't attempt to pump out updates that will produce unpredictable behaviors but that they should slow the updates and release major stable updates." - I totally understand you, but again: It's an alpha. As you know, yon't play an alpha normally just to play the game - you play it to help finding bugs and issues, bring suggestions and let your voice been heard. The fact that DayZ is already fun while still in Alpha is a bonus ;) "Yes it's only been released for a month but you must know that they've been working on it much longer." -also true. But as far Aas I'm informed the main points that they were working on for the last year before the alpha release was the Engine, Server-client architecture and the agents. Again, I can only make a parody or jokes about that, but I'm missing the inside view to really discuss this - if they have a clear focus etc. I mean...what is the Vision of a Sandbox-Game? Make it as good as possible? Make it like the Mod was but with a totally different architecture and new engine and all the cool things that the Mod-mods had? I don't know. And the Mission? Well, Beta at the end of the year. And I'm pretty sure that they have milestones that define that step..

As a fellow developer of AAA titles, an own company and billions and billions of dollars, I wanted to make my own concerns heard as well as those of my dogs and my hamsters, but honestly these following sentences are made up just by me. If you don't believe me, I have a GameDev Tycoon save that will show you. And it sounds better, when I say that I speak for other people. And I have no problem, getting the pizza served as long as there are no anchovys on it. I believe that one of the three things happened to you: 1) You ARE a developer that developed a "AAA" title, but discovered that your headtorch needs 9V and not AAAs so you failed hard and millions of dollars are gone now, as is your job, because the title you were in charge of, was put on hiatus forever. We "fanboys" label that "butthurt", biblereaders have recently discovered that the reason for this is most of the times envy. And no developer speaks of "development hell"...wait...Sergey, is that you? 2) You are drunk, high or in another way non compos mentis and have lost your direction in life or are a troll. 3) You are some kind of troll or have the name Sergey. Probably both (Not likely). What this post means to be Typically a post in a forum has a question, something to start a discussion or want present an opinion. When enough people are interested, some will comment on it (normally by saying "Alpha", which is slang for: "Oh my god, use your brain you are not a goddamn zombie"). Nothing of your post is in any way helpful, asking or even useful for a discussion, it's just starting a flamewar and makes people cry. You made peoply CRY! Are you happy now? The Evidence Pizza, rumors and opinions presented as "Evidence", Tears. If that is not an evidence for bringing absolute bullshit up, I don't know what it is. I have read an seemingless endless amount of posts about how you spread useless bullshit all over the forum. And when speaking to my fish he keeps blubbing. Not Listening To The Community Sergey, I mean, the OP, states over and over again that he would listen to the community. There are two problems that I've already found with this. 1) He has been told 512 times (I counted it, 511 times I did say it while writing the post) to please don't bring up rumors as facts and evidence, but he still did it 2) He doesn't answer all of the people that answered him, not even the people that only came here, thought "tl;dr" and wrote "Alpha" Empty Promises/No Sense You promised a discussion. It didn't happen while I was writing this post (...wait for him to get the analogy...). And open words but instead it was just whining and spreading fear. You know which political party also was successfull with spreading fear amongst the people? The Nazis. Is that an evidence, that you are one? I'd think not... As a point that's a bit off topic: If you don't undertand why this post is the way it is, go back and read the OP post one more time, I'll wait here. To the OP: I like it when people are using their brain and think critically and question things. But (and this is important) the way you did it was just not correct. Empty words and propaganda, rumors and opinions sold as evidence. I just want you to think critically - something you can obviously do - about your own post and the things you write. - because maybe people believe what they read and in that case you don't want something written in such a wrong way. Yes, I DO have concerns regarding DayZ and I understand yours. I just can't stand the way you brought them up.

    :D Pubic lice. Apply alcohol tincture or desinfectant on your genitals. Alternatavly shave your pubic hair with a combat knife. Edit: In case that someone really does this: do not do this. Me, Bohemia, Microsoft and all other companies are unliable in the case of hurt genitals while trying that method. But King.com may sue you for the already trademarked word "crotch".     Wow, thank you again for the posts and beans ;) I love sharing this story with you and try to figure out how the Inagme-beaviour of us changed and changes while playing DayZ... @DoctorWhy: Chaotic Neutral...DnD Veteran (or at least Baldurs Gate?) But yeah, I totally understand your way...and you don't KoS and you don't totally avoid people...ragarding DayZ thats very friendly ;) @Vicco: Ah well, KoSBuddy does KoS. And Psycho does most of the time not only KoS but more like killing on purpose...and Silent? Nah, he is far to careful for KoS^^ @1S1K-Airborne: In my opinion KoS is a valid play to play DayZ (because there are no wrogn ways...) - but by far not the only one. For me...I play DayZ for the same reasons I played the Mod: Freedom (aka social-psychological experiment) and Zombies. Well in the SA the Zeds are too less, too dumb, deaf and blind, but I'll wait for the changes (and I somehow think, since the last patch the number of Zeds has already grown a little bit...) @dirby: Thank you :) Well...I hope you like the next part. It gets nasty XD @RawDeal: Psycho? Well it isn't really a fair chance to put some poor fella that has no clue that you are there a Mosinbullet through their head at 500+ Metres...but yes, he is a garant for survival - while I, with my naive-friendly behaviour am a danger to the group...strange world. But I couldn't finish chapter 4 again last time...so here we go again: Chapter 4.3: KoSBuddy wanted to join but as soon as he entered he was kicked - not by an Admin but by Battleye: It seems he got an global ban. For...well, I don't know. Changing the gamma settings? I'd swear, he is not a cheater or scripter, but Battleye wouldn't believe me I guess. He tried every trick to be found on the internet to work around it, finally wrote an email to the support, only to get the answer that he is banned, they can't tell him why and that he he will not be unbanned and has to make a new steam account and buy the game again if he wants to play. Well, that was just rude. I know, every cheater would say that he didn't do anything, but by the surprise that I heard (and from my experience with him), I'd bet anything, that he wasn't cheating or scripting - so I have to think that Battleye failed Not really fair and I understand his anger totally. Psycho was out for the night, so it was only Silent and me...while he is the one that makes me least paranoid or uncomfortable, he is also the one that is (like me) not a garant for surviving, because of...well, lets call it just conscience. I sat there, peaceful and quiet, in the grass in Pusta, watching the sun go down, while I waited for Silent to show up - finally he arrived and one more time we were heading North-West. Mogilevka was nice but already looted, we found only some food and clothes...nothing we could really need. When we reached Novy things changed a little: some houses were looted, some not - which made us just more suspicious. And there he was - a guy in a yellow raincoat, axe over his shoulder, not caring about anything. I was in a house, Silent sitting in the ruins , watching the surroundings, so he spotted him first. Since he did not seem to be dangerous, I walked out and greeted him and told him not to worry and if he needed something. He waved at me, but did not say or type anything. How hard is it to use a damn headset? Or if you don't have one, the chat? If people don't answer me in any form, I get nervous, because who knows what they are plotting...and Silent thinks the same way as it seems, because he has already put up is Mosin, aiming at the head of the guy. I ask him again, if he needs something, he turns around - and sees Silent (whom I didn't mention for sure - maybe the guy has buddies around...) aiming at him - and he combat logs. That's something I will never understand: Why do you log out when you are in danger? If you die, you die, ok its bad and starting all over again is sometimes annoying, but combatlogging kills the immersion and the tension which is worse in my opinion. We turn to Stary (already looted) and after that to Kabanino... As i come out of a house, and head through the backyard I see two guys on the street, both in full military clothes, one with an M4, the other one with a Mosin. And they already have seen me. So I lower my axe and wave at them...and they wave back, putting their weapons on their back. I go closer and start talking to them and this time I quickly inform them about Silent being around - not that they get scared and start shooting around. While Silent, who got just a little bit lost this time, searches for us, we start talking about what next. Damn, this time I'm glad that I'm only with Silent, because a shootout with this two could have been real bad...especially because they were really nice guys, both from Sweden and both just friendly. We decided to team up with them and go to NWAF together. Being again in a group of 4 was great, also that these guys were after some minutes really trusting: After they alwaysw walked at first in a way that one of them was always behind us, they gave that up later and lead us, first dipsy doodling, but soon just running straight. Well, guys, I hate to say that, but with Psycho around, you would have been dead twice now. First in the city with some Mosin shots and if not by then, he would have killed you now. Good thing, only Silent was with me - so we just walked together as a group and talked ;) We loot NWAF as the server restarted - and we lost our new buddies from sweden :( Well...another server, no more luck it seems, everything is gone. Silent and me walk around for a bit, searchign strange places (and found our new favourite place to be: Weapon spawns, food, and no people anywhere near ;) (we logged off, but I'll just continue with the next session in the same chapter, since it somehow goes together) Next day, next chance. We are already quite good equipped now: I have a M4 and an Axe and carry my precious shotgun in the hands, Silent has his Mosin on his back and a M4 in his hands. (By the way: I found this quite uncomfortable...picking up the Shotgun after every singlem thing you do...next time I'll just stick with one weapon) and we head to NWAF one more time, just to check it out and head east afterwards for the "Big round" (from Svetlojarsk down at the cost to Balota). In the first military building we don't find anyone, but some good loot and go on, as we enter the second building, i stay at the entrance, silent goes up -and makes a step back "There is someone. In that room. Saw him, think he didn't see me." People at NWAF are more likely to shoot it seems, but well, I still don't wanna end a mans journey without a reason, so I stay outside the room and call him "Hey buddy. We saw you already in there. Don't worry, we're friendly. Just don't cause any trouble, ok?" I hear him mumbling something and go closer to the door "Did ya get me?" I ask again, this time I understand him "Ok. I'm friendly too. Where are you?" I'm a little bit suspicious now "Close enough, we could see you" I answer and try to not sound threatening - people that are afraid, often do stupid things (DayZ 101, lesson 5). He answers "Ok. Ok." so I wait for some seconds, but I can't hear anything. Is he waiting for us with his gun aiming at the door? Did he combatlog? Again I call him "Come out, we don't wanna kill ya. We just want to be sure, that you are no threat to us." Silence . "Buddy? You still there?" Silence. "Ok. I'm coming in. But I'm not alone, and I'm sure you will get killed if you shoot at me. Q-ing I glance into the room...nothing. Other side behind the door? Also nothing. "We should get out here. I got a bad feeling about this." I tell Silent, he agrees, so we head outside - crouching, but fast...nothing. Around the corner of the fence, there are 2 guys waiting for us, the guns already in position, I hear Silents voice "That's him!", I try to spin around, M4 bullets everywhere, I fire back with the Shotgun, but its too late...I'm dead. Again I hear shots, than Silents voice "Crap." More shots "I think I got one." Again shots, followed by silence. "Still alive?" I ask, but I'm sure I know the answer, and yes in the usual calm voice "No. I think I killed one. Well, except he could survive 40 rounds into his body....but the other one got me." As you could read in the older posts here, I normally don't mind getting killed - its part of the game. But this death annoyed me - getting ghosted is really...well its just an act of cowardice, recreancy whatever you want to call it. When I remeber my other deaths caused by players...I wasn't a bit angry back then. Sure, I had to start over, but I lost fair fights (well if e.g. 6 vs 2 is fair, but you know what I mean), some of them are really good memories - like the last one, the fight at night against the M4 KoS-player in the factory, and even in the moment after my death I was glad that I could experience that situation....but this? Bah. I was angry, annoyed...yeah I was just pissed. Instead of just calling his buddy to attack us from behind, or trying to ride it out in his room and shoot at us as we look into it, or even lie to us (we would have let him go as usual if I he walked out), walk out and attack us when we follow him outside...I mean there are thousand possibility and he took the cheapest and most unfair (since its not "in" the game) way out. But well, it's an Alpha and I'm sure that it will be dealt with. So after some moments Silent and I start again - this time on a hardcore server (since I play 1st person 90 % of the time, no big deal for me ;))....but this post is getting far too long, so I'll continue next time with it...

    What did I see from my friends behaviours? As long as KoSBuddy is not with Psycho his KoS-Mentality is not that strong - but as soon as Psycho and he are together, there are no limits anymore ;) Silent...well, he hides, gets lost in the woods (orm the houses) is extremly carefully, and even if he has also shot people by now, he is for sure one of the harmless guys as long as you don't startle him ;) And Psycho is just Psycho. He is a Sniper, a killer and has the maybe most realistic and best survival strategy: Kill everything you don't know, because if you don't, it might kill you instead. Kill or be killed. Law of the jungle, baby. And I just CAN'T imagine that the shootout (with KoS-Attempt on him) will help in any way ;) But the story is not over, so here is chapter 4.2: If I make mistakes here, my buddies may forgive me, but all this happened some days ago - on the same night as chapter 4, so I might have forgotten something... I respawn (after serverhopping because I wanted to go an a daylight server now - but either I got kicked (insert rant here *) or the server wasn't connected to the hive... Finally I found one but...well. As I had seen (before I was kicked multiple times from different servers), I had spawned in Elektro. KosBuddy is somewhere around NWAF and Silent is somewhere north of balota...no help from there. The first thing I hear after I join: Mosin shots. That's a pretty nice start...so I start running, away from them, into a house...and glorious glory: there is a Rasputin Kvass waiting for me. Quaff it, run from one house to another, after some minutes I got a pretty nice gear (for a server with so many people and only being in Elektro: Small backpack, splitting Axe, shotgun (without any ammo), some cans of food and even a can opener. As I leave another house, I literally run into another player - a freshspawn it seems that wanted to enter it at the same time. He is only wearing jeans and a green shirt and hasn't even raised his fists. I wave at him and ask if he needs something - giving away some of the food wouldn't hurt me, I guess. But well, axe and shotgun on my shoulders seem to freak him out, because the only thing he did was starting to sprint - directly into the center of Elektro. I yell "Wait, there are people there, shooting around!" But either he doesn't hear me or he doesn't care. Well, some time later as I start leaving Elektro I hear Mosin shots again, somewhere close to the center...ah well randomn green shirt guy, I hope you made it. Even if you didn't communicate and were frightened to death by me...at least you didn't try to punch my face off. I'm alread in the north east of Elektro, just 2 houses left and the power plant on my way out of this madness that was called civilization once upon a time. I crouch into the house, head upstairs, look into the first room...and there is a guy, dallas mask on his face FNX in his hands, a dead corpse at his feet, loot shattered around them. Well I don't know hat happened here and who was the attacker, so I take a step back and say "Friendly. Stay calm, I will not attack you." His answer? Right. Raising the FNX and shooting... But well, poor idiot, no Ammo left. click.click.click. I rush back, around the corner so he can't see me - maybe I could have killed him with my axe, but I really didn't need to get wounded and also there were some wild shooters already in the city that might get attracted it he starts shooting...so I run down the stairs...and it seems he has managed to reload the pistol, because now I hear him shooting, but the bullets miss me as I rush ouit the house. I run out, heading to the power plant - time to get my ass out of Elektro for real, but maybe there is a fire axe or shotgun shells waiting for me - as I hear more shots from behind me, at least two different people are shooting, maybe more. Either they are hunting me or Mr. Dallasmask is in trouble - but I honestly don't care. I run into the powerplant, for cover and loot, as I hear steps behind me, only way is upstairs to the top of the firetower, so i run up, steps behind me again, I reach the top floor, get on the ground an raise the axe - I may be friendly but I just got fed up enough with these people, so if the guy that follows me climbs up the stairs he'll feel the axe in his head. I hear him roaming around downsatairs, he must know that I'm up here...but it seems he doesn't care or is wise enough not to climb up. After some minutes the steps are gone. I wait some time more, than I look down...nothing, he is gone. Free! I head outside, and run north, away from these people.... After some minutes of hiding in the bushes and eating everything I have, I decide to go to Pusta - nice little village just across the hill, as I remember. Well, it is nice and small, but someone comes running up the street - another player. I wave at him - a newspan it seems, no weapons as far as I can tell, only shirt and jeans. He runs up to me and I say "Hey buddy. Everything ok? Ya need help?" His answer? Right. Running up to me and hitting me in the face - lucky me, I don't get unconscious. I step back and pull out the axe "Woah. Are you crazy? Stop that! I don't wanna kill you!" He raises his fists and steps closer, i step back, he misses his punch "Just go away. I don't wanna kill you!" I yell again, but he keeps punching - so i hit back. I'm not proud of that, a desperate guy it seems, attacking someone with an axe and a shotgun with his bare fists. Maybe he was just hungry or thirsty or frightened...or he just snapped from all that violence he had to witness, but I hit him hard, three, four, five times, he goes down. I stare at his body "Damn idiot." I say, hitting the body once more with my axe, just to make sure "Why. did. ya. do. that." every word companied by another axehit. I didn't attack a guy that tried to shoot my, but was to dumb to check his ammo first. I did not attack that bambi that was scared the hell out from me. And i din't go an a search mission for the mosin-shooter in Elektro, or faced the guy that was following me into the powerstation. But I killed an unarmed man, that just went crazy. I coul have run instead and leave him there...nobody wants a chase I guess, not even the snapped ones. But that was just enough shit for me it seems... I step back and sit down in the grass. The sun is going down it seems. Pusta loooks nice, a little village in the woods, its...peaceful. If you ignore that bleeding corpse in the middle of the street. But, you know, you've got to lower your standards in this world. It is peaceful. randomn-kick-rant: I mean, that is already really annoying. A 40 slot server and there are 3 people online, but they kick everyone that joins, just because they want to loot alone? Thats just...well, cowardly and worse than server hoppers. I wouldn't mind if a server admin kicks ppl for bad behaviour, racis names or something like that or even to make room for his buddies...but really? To loot alone so that you have the best gear without any danger? Thats like paying for the gear...but well, there are enough people that play Pay2Win games and pay the hell out of it, so why should I wonder about that...

    Afaik: 1) Servers without any hosting in their name: is not forbidden 2) For some odd reason randomly kicking players is also not forbidden, even if you are in the main hive For PVE only etc servers: If you dont know the hosting company, you can try this to find out where you can send the report to: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/161560-trick-to-find-out-the-gsp-of-a-abusive-server/?p=1626102 ...or send it to all of them (as said here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/#entry1603380)

    Like I wrote in the patch-announcment thread, everytime I read something like this ("they focus in the wrong things", "The should not add that before they fix this", or something along these lines) I think you imagined the following scenario, happening a week before the latest patch: ...really? But i wont repeat my rant now, since other people found nicer words here *throws beans at them* Edit: typos.

Because either someone sets a flare as a trap and kills everyone who walks by or someone sets a flare because he wants other players to find him and gets killed because they found him. BUT there will be flares (they were in the mod and there are already 3D models of them in the game files) So this is something that will be here sooner or later ;) 5) Map is in constant change. Maybe we see rivers and bridges? We'll see...

    And I play 90% of the time 1st person no matter which server I'm on - mainly because I like it more...immersion and such ;) Psycho ordered me to say that (and I quote) "You wrote it wrong! I'm not that nice!" ;) BUT you all waited for it (I hope so) so here it is: Chapter 4 from LaughingJack (Psychos Nickname suggestion for me was "Sweaty" because I'm so afraid :P while Silent was nicer, he suggested "Bewildered Avenger") while he travels Chernarus with Silent, KoSBuddy and, for sure, Psycho. Patchday! Yay! We discussed the news and fixes while we waited for the servers to come back...and yeah, late in the evening, there they are. Psycho already had logged off, so it was just Silent, KoSBuddy and me - and sure as hell a pitch black server. We spawned in Dolina - with chars and equipment from 4 or 5 days ago - No rifles or pistols, only small backpacks... But Dolina was empty...we thaught. But playing at night was something totally new for KoSBuddy (he had avoided it by then) and Silent and I also werent that used to it. But we didn't want to change the Gamma settings - and use our flashlights instead. Carefully we started looting, but it was...well...mediocre. Food and clothes but nothing else. After some time, suddenly KoSBuddy screams "Woah! There was a light!" I was standing in a building, not far from him and Silent...well...I don't know, but I guess he was already somewhere in the woods before KoSBuddy finished his sentence ;) It wer very tense moments - lasting nearly half an hour - we had by then...the small city, darkness, just listening to the sound and watching around without seeing much. We stayed together and moved incredibly slow and we saw the light again 2 times - but we never met the person carrying it and I'm pretty sure he had no clue that there were three persons crawling around in the same city, looking out for him. Whoever you were stranger with the light, you used only three times for some seconds, thank you - it was an amazing experience seeing KoSBuddy more careful (and absolutely NON-KoS) than Silent because "Night is awesome. I got chills." We left Dolina (after we were sure that the stranger did not notice us), heading to Polana. KoSBuddy found a shotgun there (and lucky buddy, I was carrying shells for it) We had some fun there, looting around and shooting Zeds with the "shotty", but after we logged off, KoSBuddy tried to log back in to another (Daytime) server - and had a "You are dead" screen, without any reason. No, not a hardcore server, nor a server not connected to the hive (as I joined there and still had my char). His char was just dead and gone - with the shotgun. Next day, different story: KoSBuddy was somewhere on the coast (and again: nighttime), Silent with router-problems...so Psycho (who was lucky again, because his character was also set back to ~ 5 days ago, but he was fully equipped back then with his beloved mosin and all his stuff) and I met up at NWAF - my weapon was a Magnum (I seem always to find one as fkirst weapon^^). We decided to go east because, well, we werent there before. So we made our way to Lopatino in total darkness (I had a headtorch already but I only turned in on when it was too dark) and started looting it - pretty big city so far from everywhere, it seemed to us. There is also an industrial complex, while I was lootign in the factory itself (Headtorch on) I suddenly hear shots from the Outside - M4 shots. "That wasn't you, right?" I ask, half believing he found an M4, pranking me again...but no, he storms in, throws himself on the ground and starts bandaging himself "Yeah, like, I shot myself in the feet with my invisible M4 to trick you." - he was a little bit nervous ;) So we waited. And looked around. And waited....and...nothing happened. Finally I can't stand the tense no more and decide to try my best and leave the building, crouching, my Magnum in my hand, lurking through the night, ears wide open. I make it to the next building, Psycho follows up, but decides to stay there, while I start to crouch around...but I notice nothing suspicious. Suddenly, fromt he other side of the area I hear shots and Psycho goes "DAMN! He shot me! Fast, he may be still there!" My buddy - gone. And his precious Mosin (that he spraypainted against my suggestion and was now a one-shot-rifle ;)) that killed so many innocent people in the hands of a KoS-Bandit. Karma? No. There is no thing like Karma in DayZ - just people. As I walk around the corner of the building I run into a Zed - however it came there and was not startled by the shots I don't know...I switch to my axe, take him out, get the Magnum in my hand, lurk around the next corner where Psycho died...but his killer is gone. Bam. A Mosin shot. Goddamn idiot using a spraypainted Mosin and missing his (only) shot, I turn around where the shot came from - there he is, the Magnum roars, he starts running, but I hit with at least one bullet, I follow up, but suddenly the M4 starts shooting, I get hit real bad, my vision is blurry like hell, now I run for cover... I try to bandage up, hiding behind a small obstacle and make it, without getting killed. I try to reload but...well: Magnum. It still has bullets in it - I can't empty it, i cant fill it up. Again I look around, but I can't see him...wait, there he is! Trying to flank me, 40 or more meters away, only visible in the night because he crosses the street. I shoot, but I miss it seems, he hides in the shadows, I move to avoid getting flanked, but he must have moved further than I thought, because suddenly I hear bullets hitting the ground besides me, I roll over, blindly firing back, one shot, I thought it hit him (maybe it has, I don't know), he comes closer, spraying bullets, that miss me by centimeters only, I try to aim for him again, shoot...Click. No bullets left. NOT NOW! And again the M4 roars and my screen turns black. "You are dead" the last thing I hear is him coming closer, I hear him coughing and groaning, and then shooting again. One bullet only. And I know, that one went straight through my head. And Psycho, laughing "Ah well, as you always say: People are SO damn FRIENDLY. All they want is HELP you. All YOU have to do is TALK to them. No Killing on sight, right? Let them live and try to help them and talk to them." A shootout in the middle of the night in a old factory complex, you see close to nothing, but still it is intense, more than any video game in my experience. Damn, my Hands are shaking. I can hear my heart beat, loud and fast. I take a deep breath and look at the black screen with the white letters. I smile. I love this game.

    Nice that I made your day. Days are always better that way :) But I'm not talking like a king with no background - We did not use the majestic plural, did We? And the background of the forum is set to black normally - if you don't have one, just check the "My Settings" section, some boards allow different styles, maybe there is one where the background is missing. Ok, seriously: I work as a programmer for some years now (but not in the gaming industry) and it just came to my mind that the post I replied to in the first place, was that sort of total, excuse that word, BS that people that have no knowledge about programming are bringing up so often: "They focus on the wrong things", "They need to fix that first before they add that" And that was exactly what you wrote. I answered that, only regarding your post without knowing you personally, I have to assume that you are talking about something, you don't have the slightest clue about. However, I did not say that this problem should not be focussed or that it is not important - if you read carefully what I wrote, you may see that. So, if you want to discuss (and answering to a post is discussing), please don't start like that - to put words in somebody's mouth is just a prove of bad manners, just like not really listening (=reading) what the other person said (=wrote) What I DID say was: Adding different sorts of sodas (or beer or whatever the texture and the text of the freaking cans say) is something that (again, coming only from my experience) does not delay in any way the work on something like the zombie-wall-glitch. Just because these things are normally done by totally different people. And yes, character resets are annoying and should be fixed as soon as possible. And I'm pretty sure that the devs are aware of that and it will be one of the top-priority items for the next patch or even a hotfix.

    1) I hope you are a troll and don't mean that serious. 2) There is no pumpgun. 3) Most important: You clearly have no idea about game design, patch rollouts and workflows. Or did ya imagine something like this: Developers Meeting, they discuss something, Dean enters. First developer looks up to Mr. Hall and says: "We need to focus on resets and implement more zombies and also fix that they are going through walls, that should be in the next patch!" Dean looks at him in total disgust, jumps on the table and screams "F*** off with that! Ignore it until December! I want PIPSI in the game! Pipsi and short pants, thats the TOP and ONLY Priority!" ....really? Or just maybe (MAYBE) they implement things, which work and don't cause more bugs...Also it's nearly impossible that a lot of programmers work on a subroutine (like zombiesm glitching through walls). Why? Because you can't work like that. You don't know what the others have planned with the strange things that they have written in the code. You would have to read through it, maybe get it explained to you until you know where it is leading to...and that would change nothing because: You can't change the same programfile if somebody else is working on it. (called "checked out"...ever heard of?) Pipsi and all the other funny drinks are just changes in a)textures of the cans and B) (only maybe, don't know if thats correct, i don't think that different sodas have different values atm) change of nutritionvalue (affecting hunger/thirst). a) is NOTHING a programmer would do (well....write 2 lines of code to implement the textures to a randomn number of all can objects spawned) and b ) is also no big deal - changing (or adding) some values that are given said can object in a masterfile. So the programmer is working on the zombie-wall-glitch or the zombie+lootspwan or the resets or some other program-logic...and the artist makes all this funny stuff like textures for the sprayed mosin, different can textures. Dammit at least THINK before you post something and if you don't have a clue what you are talking about don't open your mouth (=touch the keyboard). /rant

    Multiple characters on different Hardcore servers

    Just guessing: Could the (hardcore)servers you were on already been in different hives? I also recognized this. On most of the regular servers I have my "old" char. In most of the hardcore servers I have another char that is the same there. And then there are some servers where I am at the coast or somewhere else as a freshspawn - regular and hardcore.

    Thats a lie. Mario Kart = KoS (but no Permadeath). And if you have red or spike shell it its even KwS! Hm...except for bananas. But they are non-KoS in DayZ as well. (really. sometimes i run around with one in my hand and go "pewpew!" Doesn't Kill on Sight or without sight at all ;)) Ah don't wanna type i just copy my words from another thread (because 1S1K-Airborne did the exact same thing) : There is no right or wrong way to play DayZ - that's what makes it so great. It's strange to say that, but if everybody would play like me - trying to help others, only shooting back when attacked or in danger -the game would lose a lot. Without KoS-players, robbing bandits, sadistic torturers, squads who capture other players and force them to fight to their deaths, Wiggle-cultists, Frenchkillers, fully armed but pantless riddlemasters and even Freshspawn-killers the game wouldn't be so tense. And 90% of my encounters were friendly (and not ONE of them a freshspawn)...maybe because I believe meanwhile that the most dangerous player on every server I am, is one of my buddies...     Yeah...no beans for you, good Sir. Server hopping because you loot and later because you want to kill someone? You missed the point it seems... Easy one: If you don't have fun(As you said: DayZ provides 1% fun for you at the moment), don't play it or wait some months and come back to look if the changes make it more fun for you. Excuse me, if I misinterpreted something but the core of your post is: You played 12 hours, to gear up so you can pvp and are annoyed that you didn't find people to fight and that in the end, when you found someone, he killed you and that you have to start over again. PvP is important and all - but, here it comes, DayZ is NOT about PvP. At the current state it seems to be like that, because you gear up fast (and you can gear up WAY faster than 6 hours - even without looking at a onlinemap) and there are no real threats beside other players - but that doesn'T make DayZ "about PvP" - I mean...PVP with 30-40 players on a 225 km² map?

    @ elLoco: That is SO awesome XD But I'm sorry to say that the learning effect was..well...read chapter 3 ;) Ah and Silent did kill KosBuddy and me once (before chapter 1 ;)) but it was a fun thing...We died all together at Balota airfield from some bandits ina very tense fight and met up in Kamyshovo again - KoS and I had a crowbar Silent a fireaxe - but he got hit by Zeds and broke his leg and we couldn't find morphine or sticks, so we decided we put him out of his misery, so he can spawn again and we would wait for him - but he started to swing his axe and shout "You won't kill me!" (all 3 of us laughed really hard the whole time - more fun and joke moment so I didn't tell about it earlier) ...but in the end managed to kill both of us with his fireaxe. But well...before we even respawned he was eaten by Zeds ;) @ worst2first: Totally true. DayZ will create an awesome atmosphere - immersion at its finest ;) Yeah, you die, you respawn, nothing that bad. But if you let it happen...it creates moments of shock and fear like no other game I know, you get into it and maybe thats the reason why I love playing it so much. Ah and all 3 of my buddies know of this thread and read it ;) I hope they have a good laugh at the memories presented here *waves at them* Love ya psycho, even if you make me paranoid and give me shivers when we play DayZ ;) But we are not finished, right? Right. So right on, here comes chapter 3: Yesterday, Psycho and KoSBuddy were online before Silent and me. So they decided to head east from NWAF to Krasnostav and NEAF. To meet with them I went to Gorka (once again. That city is something special to me, it seems^^) and waited there for Silent. While he was on his way, Psycho and KosBuddy told me what happened in the meantime...they saw a lone survivor running somewhere on their way and since Psycho did not have a mosin by then (just my old magnum...), KoSBuddy shot him - just because they suspected, that he could have a Mosin. Well bad luck - just a splitting Axe and some food. Poor guy...died for the possibility that he might carry a weapon that Psycho wanted. Or maybe just for crossing their paths... Psychos reaction to my question why they killed that guy: "He didn't see us coming."... (After questioning that he said, it is ok if anybody shoots him, if he doesn't see his killer coming ;)) Some time later (Silent still on his way^^) they wanted to go to Berezino, but got lost and ended up in Olsha and decided to look at the harbour to the north of it. While I looted Gorka and waited, they found another victim: KoSBuddy shot at him, missed, the other guy tried to fight back but gave it up and ran for cover - and got shot. And here comes the reason (Because I asked - as usual - why the heck they shot that guy) "He shot back." I just let that sink in. Anyway I replied "And you would have shot him also, if he wouldn't have shot back?" - "Well, we will never find out now..." After some time Silent and I made it to Berezino and started looting it - suddenly server-restart...yay, in the middle of Berezino. We connect again and - surrounded by Zeds. As fast and silent as possible we take them out with our Axes, then the shooting starts not far from us. We ask the other two, but they deny...so we're not alone here. From the positions of the shots, one of they guys is at the harbour, the other one somewhere in the West of us, both with a Mosin. Very very careful, we make our way to the next houses and search for cover there and scout the area...nothing, even after some minutes, nothing to hear, nothing to see. So I decide to cross the main street, and get safe there, Silent follows - and as he enters the house where I wait, only some centimetres next to his head a bullet hits the wall. Again we ask Psycho and KoSBuddy, but they say they are not close enough and din't shoot - they didn't even hear the shooter. So we know that one guy is scouting mainstreet, so we make our way out the backdoor, hiding, crouching and make it to the next house, again scouting the area - suddenly another mosin-shot and the Zed next to our house is dead. We are suspicious now and go to another house - that kind with a piano on the ground floor - and wait there. Again we ask them if they are shooting, and surprise, surprise, they were trying to prank us. Just a little bit annoyed I tell them "Funny guys. And takes a lot of skill to follow two people, who tell you all the time, where they are and where they are going. Come in and see if my M4 also thinks this is funny." Since the house has three doors they have a fair chance - especially because Silent uses his FNX inside buildings and not his mosin...and he is sitting on the stairs, looking to one of the doors. (Funny bug occured: Silent tried to lay down on the stairs - and glitched through the closer rail, landed on the second one and surfed it down on his belly XD) Not that smart, because if one of them looks carefully, he will see his feet before Silent has a chance to see anything of his enemy. And exactly this happend after some tense minutes - KoSBuddy looks throught he door, shoots with his Mosin and hits Silent - right into the leg. Silent backs down upstairs to bandage himself, while I go downstairs...and get a glance at KoSBuddy as he looks into a door, but he's gone before I can react...but well....He always wields his Mosin, so I'm gonna show him, why a M4 is superior in close combat. I go out another door, lurk around the corner - and there he is, waiting for me, he shoots, I move, I hear the bullet right beside my ear missing my head by..well some pixels - I pray & spray...and he goes down, I run back into - Psycho is somewhere with his mosin and that makes me paranoid as hell... KoSBuddy laughs and swears and wants to reconnect...aaaand the server restarts. I don't know if a funny admin was online or if we really were playing in Berezino for FOUR hours (I'd say it was mostly a half an hour but time flies when playing DayZ....), but we try to reconnect - but the server is gone for good. So we connect to another server...and KoSBuddy is alive again for some reason, heavy bleeding but conscious - and I'm not missing a single bullet. But he has no bandages, so I call him in and start to bandage him (yeah I know...other people wopuld have finished their work ;)), while Psycho logs out for the day (fun thing: I haven't seen him for the whole session, but knowing he was around with his freaking Mosin and his damn good aim made me paranoid as hell ;)) - and as I look up I see a damn FOUNTAIN of blood coming through the ceiling. I ask Silent if he is bleeding - his answer in a total calm voice: "No. There are two guys up here. One dead other one with an axe just standing there and bleeding." As we go up I see he has pointed his FNX at the head of the axeguy...well he has nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, so his dangermode is kicking in, it seems. I go close to the axeguy and ask "Buddy? You ok? You need bandages?" ...Nothing "Hey buddy? Can you hear me?" Nothing, just standing there, with the axe in his hand, a dead body at his feet, bleeding like hell. Maybe he is dead and the char is just stuck. So I turn around - and he moves his head. That was the last movement he would ever make, because now the FNX of Silent roars, bullet after bullet hitting the axewielder, he goes down. "Fuck. I was scared. He didn't say anything and i thought he was dead...and then he moved his head." was the next thing Silent says, followed by "We should get out here..." So after a quick search we make our way out, to the next group of bushes and trees outside the city. Suddenly KoSBuddy announces "There is someone. At the building site. Next to the crane. On the roof." (that was the clearest call, I've ever heard from him - way better than "Over there"^^) KosBuddy and Silent scout him - but they don't shoot. Meanwhile I explain that killing randomn people is no solution and try to convince them to kill only bandits...so we start to discuss possible ways, how to find out if someone is a bandit... Suddenly Silent, now in his natural environment (in cover behind a bush ;)) announces "He is sprinting towards us, across the field." KoSBuddy already aims at him, while I say that I kill bandits...and KoS player. And well, he is one of them if he takes that guy down. Unimpressed he shoots, hits, but the guy is still alive, and runs now straight towards us...for what reason ever. but at least he is smart enough not to run in a straight line, KoSBuddy shoots..and shoots...and shoots...but he misses them all, the guy is now only 50 metres away, nio chance that he could hit him with his mosin, since he is in full sprint. If he sees 3 guys lying there ...it wouldn't make a difference who of them shot at him I guess. I aim, one shot of the M4 - and he goes down. KoSBuddy runs towards him to check him out...and he is dead. Being with Bandits makes you one it seems. Instead of delivering on my threat and shoot KoSBuddy, I killed an innocent guy, that had his weapon on his back... Cling together, swing together it seems....

Sorry for thread resurrection, but after i read this one : http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/139952-russian-community-consolidated-suggestions-a-huge-presentation-for-rocket/ , i couldn't resist to bump this idea up again, so people might notice it ;) and it might gets moved to the SA section of the board....^^ But as fuenke said (more than a year ago...time is running...) : And you must take care of the problem of player changing to a server with no adverse season. So I suggest to make those seasons at the same time on every server

I really like most of the ideas and from a players perspective I can see their value - but I can't really estimate the amount of work that some of these ideas would take. I' just adding my 2 beans here - just my opinion about these awesome suggestions: DayZ Server Modes (with a separate hive for each mode) I like it very much, even if there are too many types in there. DayZ (aka Standalone), DayZ Life (including Biorythm optional) and optional for both modes the Seasons - and I think its very good. Social Simulation (and perma identity, social list) Yes to the perma identity - but I dont really know if I'm happy with the auto-PID-shown... maybe combine it with this idea (which is already really close to yours, without PID) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/162324-player-identification-and-classification-system/ ... - Passive attributes...maybe. I just can imagine how people will abuse that and grind for their lifes... - Genetic memory? Well...interesting, but I'd say no to this one. for em: New Spawn = new char. - Revoke ability to loot own corpse: Meh. It SHOULD be possible to loot it, since New spawn=new char, but than you should forget about it ;) the 10 min timer is a good way inbetween i'd say. maybe even lower it to 5... Server hopping, ghosting etc. Mentioned and discussed since the creation of this document est. 100000 times. Confirmed that something will be done about it. (And what is the radio doing in that section? Anyway, radios + radio station sounds fun) Night time back to survival As part of biorythm: yes. Advanced medicine and injury The most awesome part of the awesome document ;) Yes, Yes, Yes. Maybe too much but I don't care - it sounds just amazing ;) Death Also great ideas - all of them. (well maybe killed by lightning is a little bit harsh ;)) And climbing trees...sounds awesome, but i just dont know if its really a good idea... Character abilities etc. Yeah slots for hands was also mentioned some hundred timesm so you can say that a lot of players thought about it and want it...lets see... Character development/skills And here it gets tricky... - Character creation class with death penalty: No. Spawn = new life. No penalties, no bonuses. - Sleep and GPH: Yes, but I'm not with you on Power hour, active hour etc. but i like the rest of that idea :) Map/Game world Good ideas, but seeing them against e.g. the medical system they are small ;) Gameplay /serverside system etc. I like most of the ideas but: - Off server technology for metal-detector: no. just no. GLOBAL VIRTUAL DAYZ GEOVERSE I don't even...well....no. That will cause more problems than it would help in my opinion... The rest of the ideas are either very good or at least worth a thought - or arwe already implemented or confirmed. Only "Portable mp3 player","Compensate for unrealistically being offline (by sending emails)" is quite...yeah, i'd call it "not worth the amount of work" And "Introduce holiday, roleplay and traditional clothes, masks and items" ...no. As good as the rest is, this idea is in my opinion, awful.... And the best sentence of the whole document: "Basically DayZ is a hobo simulator"

    Well, in that case it seems that either I wasn't clear enough or you misunderstood something - Psycho is in real life a nice guy and I know him for around 15 years, I think, and I played a lot of video (and board, card etc.) games together with (and against) him. Sure, he is somebody with a mind of his own, but who isn't ;) But DayZ has the ability like no other game to change the expected behaviour of everyone it seems. Take my 3 buddies in the story: Silent is a real great guy, logical thinking and cool temper...but in DayZ he gets lost in the woods as soon as anybody announces that he has seen another player. KoSBuddy is friendly and self confident - but in DayZ he has developed a KoS-mentality because of the suspicion against other players. Psycho...well as I said: A really nice and great guy and somebody that helps you if you need him without asking, he is a hell of a friend :). But in DayZ...well he becomes a psycho sometimes. And here is the thing: they dont do that because its roleplaying the character - this behaviour gets stronger the longer we play. After 3 or 4 hours in then game, they do those things without thinking about it. And that makes DayZ one of a kind.

    And here we go, chapter 2: We arrived at NWAF today, with 2 other buddies. One, a silent guy, avoiding fights and usually running so far away, that we have trouble, finding him again. The other one is more a KoS Guy - mainly because he has the classic "if I don't shoot they will shoot me." - mentality...and I can't say that it comes out of nowhere ;) but he has a problem with directions...e.g. We don't see each other, and he sees a guy running somewhere, he usually calls it like "There is another player!" "Where?" "Over there!" "WHERE IS OVER THERE?" "He is to my left now." ....makes us laugh every time. And puts us in danger. But laughing is more precious ;) To keep it clean I refer to the 3 as "psycho" (buddy from post 1) "silent" and "KoSBuddy" But let's start...So we came to NWAF, the other 3 guys with their mosins, me with my precious M4 - I just like it more ;) They scouted around and I started checking the Hangars. Suddenly KoSBuddy says "There is someon. On the fire station." I hid and scouted, and made my way around, just in case. Suddenly again "He is going down the ladder!" BAM! "hit him!" BAM! "He fell. i think he's dead." Poor fella. Well, maybe he was serverhopping...but who knows... But well, dead is dead and after some "Why did you kill him?" we looted..nothing we could reall use...well except for some food and a can opener. I collect them. I had 6 now. Strange, I know, but I was thinking about going to the coast and giving them to freshspawns... Back again, we talked, and reminding this thread, i thought...well, at least I should prank psycho. So i went near him while he was scouting and handcuffed him - and stole his can opener. 7 now - happy me ;) Since I had no keys i told him to wiggle out the handcuffs but they were pristine so it took a while...so long that KosBuddy set him free as he had some keys. Suddenly he pulls out the magnum and lands a hard shot to my hip. In panic I pull out the M4 and unleash hell - struck by bullets he goes down, I'm bleeding too, vision goes to black and white. I turn around and see KosBuddy running towards me - I just thought, well he may be out for revenge, and since he killed that poor guy on the fire station...Bam.Bam. Bam. Dead. Whoa did I feel guilty. I apologised - even if psycho did start the shooting - and Silent and me collected as many stuff as we could (I even throw away most of my precious can openers...so if you found today at NWAF a body with ~6 can openers around it....that was psycho ;) Met KosBuddy in Gorka, to bring them most of his stuff...well there was a guy in an orange raincoat with a mosin in his hand in Gorka. I ran towards him, called friendly...no reaction. I lurked around the house where he was hiding and tried it again "Buddy? Everything ok? I Won't kill you" Suddenlky he raises the mosin - and before he can shoot I have pumped 10 rounds or more in his body. And as we loot him, I see why he did not shoot: There was no ammo in the mosin... But well KosBuddy hat a mosin again and since we rescued his pristine long range scope and his ammo etc. he was good equipped again.. So we went to Polana to meet up with psycho, gave him the rest of his stuff - and my magnum even if I had a very bad feeling about that, so I tried to move in a way that either Silent or KosBuddy would be inbetween him and me...but well, as I look to the side, suddenly Mosin-Fire. KoSBuddy shoots and hits, I run for cover, but Psycho flanks me, the magnum roars...and I'm dead. Shot by the mosin, for which I killed a poor guy that didn't even had bullets for it and the magnum that I carried around for 10+ ingame hours... Running back there from Kamyshovo...so they take my stuff out because I'm not sure that I would make it in time....aaaand server restarts as I'm 500 metres away :( But at least they saved my precious M4. So now we're even - at least thats what they say....and the funny thing comes now: After psycho quits for today, we decide to run up again to NWAF, because the server restarted...and passing through Gorka we see two guys with mosins running and looting - careless - around. (Whats up with Gorka? High traffic area? ;)) KosBuddy has his mosin out "I can take one out. Should I?" He asks...well thats something different. Normally I would have heard two shots... "no, wait..." I reply. So I sneak closer - they go in cover but look down the hill into the city, and we are already flanking them just by...well sitting in the bushes. "Should we take em out?" I hear KosBuddy again, but I decline and move closer. As I'm sitting ten metres away in a bush I say "Yo, buddy. Friendly. Don't worry....look to your side..." Well glad that we didn't shoot them - because they were nice as hell and after some chatting we traded Magnum Ammu and food for some painkillers we wished them a safe journey and reminded them to be more careful...but I really was impressed that KosBuddy did not shoot. After we found Silent who was, like usual, somewhere lost in the woods, we decided to head to NWAF again....
