^This. And I HAVE to play on hardcore servers (and I'm so glad that they are available), because no matter how hard I promise myself not to switch to 3rd person - I do it if I can. Even if I don't like it... And after some time you don't want to miss the 1st person - immersion ftw ;)

The combat knife must be buffed,massively.

nerf = make weaker buff = make stronger But aside from saying Alpha and dmg of all weapons will be changed (including guns), I support the OP - expect for one thing: The "strength" (in that case: potential damage) of an item should have nothing to do with its "rareness" in the loot table (but rare as a result of "get more looted by players - yes). A combat knife should be rare (outside military buildings/tents etc.) because only a few people had one. A Crowbar or a pipewrench should not be rare in the same case, because they can be found in nearly every house. And all army-combat knives are stabbing weapons - at least that's what i've been told in the army ;) Edit. Goddamn, gews ninja'd me -.- -

I kill when I get attacked or get suspicious but I haven't shot anyone that did not act violent towards me. Murder? No. Manslaughter (in self-defense)? Yes. Killer? Depends on what you are referring...damn english language, just isn't clear enough. It's from another thread, but I keep this quote always at my fingertips, it's very often useful in this forum (which is kinda sad...) -
Fresh Servers Spawning Open Doors/Gates

While I totally understand and support this idea (just because it would feel a lot more realistic ;)) and I want to add that It'd be awesome if some of the closed doors should be locked and you should be able to run them in, smash them open or pick the lock etc., there are some similar threads already existing...e.g. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167283-doors-randomly-open-closed-on-server-reset/ (and for locked doors and ways to open them, even more ;)) I already make this sometimes, just because i can (and I'm good equipped)...I open doors without taking anything...I put some of my food in a house that has normally 0 loot...I gather all the loot of one small village and put it into one room (If you have ever seen 20 tshirts, beanies and shoes in the church of Novy, chances are good that it was me ;)) -

I get when people don't read every single post in a thread they are responding to, even if I don't like it, because in 99% somebody else will have already said what you are going to say. But not even reading the OP of a thread you are responding to is....amazing lazy. But a brainless zombie is a brainless zombie, what did I expect? At least you read the title... Here, just for you, so you dont hurt your soft finegrs while clicking the mean mouse and seach for the first post (these are hiding well sometimes) And while I still don't care about the OPs "I survived so long" and "I milk my friend", things like your post are just a prove of bad manners. You don't respond to someone you haven't listen to, neither should you put words in his mouth or insult him for something he hasn't said. -

I never thought I'd agree with the majority of posters in a thread but: Yes, my biggest concern is that the game will become too easy (read: casual). I don't think that it will happeninevitably, but there is a chance. Why? Just because it's DayZ - it should be hard, unforgiving and sometimes just mean. Players, Zombies, hunger & thirst, maybe weather+temperature (wet clothes->sick) etc. etc. SHOULD be a constant thread. @creature: "I'm worried there will be too many military weapons." - already stated that, as soon as improvised weapons are introduced, military gear will be super rare...I hope this statement stays and is solid as a rock...et. No, I dont want to drive orlok crazy (horse ;)) but this thread was already on page 2 (or3?) and new threads popped out, regarding the amount of Zombies, performance etc... And I want to add something: Not only more zombies but respawning Zombies are coming... Just because half of the people seem to not see the DevTracker (even though it got its own Sub) and complain about things mentioned there...and as soon as I point to a Thread, no matter if DevTracker or "please use the search function" followed by dozens of links to similar threads people start ranting. Not that I care, but it's useless somehow. You show somebody that his suggestion/complaint has been made 10 times, he calls you names and on the next day 3 more threads on the same thing appear... But back 2 topic: If the Zed-Respawn is close to be finished (the first try, I'm sure that there is a lot of tweaking coming but I'm a happy little Jack at the moment regarding this news^^) maybe the loot respawn, which is handled in a similar manner, as it was mentioned more than once, is also on its way...Yay :) I just can't wait for the "new" Zombie AI to be added then and the Z-wall-glitch to be gone (and also to be seen on the DevTracker: The Desync issues may also be reduced with this optimization)...that would add an amazing amount of value to this awesome game ;) And regarding the sewing kit: There is not much appreciation what I read, especially the "If a part of the clothing gets 'ruined', everything in it also gets ruined" thing. What do you guys think? From a programmers POV I understand this approach and I'm sure it will be handled differently in the future, but at the moment I'm glad we can repair clothes soon...maybe there will be something like a "Pristine patched TTsKO pants" that isnt so camo anymore because the only patches you had were from a violet cargo pant - and those patches are visible^^ I know it isn't necessary to patch clothes everytime where sewing is enough to fix it and I know its just an overt-the-top-extra but I just had to think about it ;) So from now on remember: Before entering a town, always put all your valuable stuff in your "badly damged" assault vest ;) -

If this is the issue, there is not much you can do about it - it's a server side problem. Good thing, it's a well known problem and the devs are working on it already afaik. -

1) Guns are at the moment easy to find because (and here it comes again) it's an Alpha and we, the players, should not only play but help them find bugs, exploits etc. and test the things that are thrown at us. 1) a) Every time a new gun is added to the Alpha, it will befound very often & easy due the given reason, while the other guns are not so common anymore (e.g. Magnum) 2) A hive-wide spawn-NoSpawn (for a given time) is - as fair as I can guess - not planned nor wished by the Devs (regarding the things saif about hives, loot etc.) 3) As Dean Hall stated: As soon as improvised weapons are available (throwing weapons, bows, etc.) military weapons will be super-rare. We conclude: Nice suggestion, will not happen as far as i can tell. Edit: Ninja'd again by e47 :(

Depends. Running on the coast to Balota or staying at NWAF - Map feels small. Running through the north or not on the streets somewhere inland - map feels huge. And compared to any other game, it's already real big... hm...there, found it: DayZ vs Arma III Map size: And Arma III vs some other games: So the map IS pretty big, but there are hotspots (and there will always be hotspots, even if lootspawn, playerspawn etc. is changed. And that's good. Yeah, you should feel alone .- but you should never have the feeling that you really ARE alone. ;) And maybe the last word of the map(s ?) -size isn't spoken yet...

mh, I think I can help ya with a little updates For the 3D Models that are already in the game files, take a look here: http://imgur.com/a/PG47z Rocket confirmed that these models are "ready to go" and some of them needed only some tweaking but they will all appear in the game sooner or later (as we saw by now, nearly half of them already made it into stable) -

But on the other hand: have you ever been to Cherno/Novoselky/Dubky and looted the appartment buildings? 10 or more floors, every door open, and lots of rooms...but well, one can of sardiens top per floor - if anything at all (and more loot wouldn't make it better). Windows that can be climbed through Have also been mentioned more than once here, and i think this might get implemented.

1) the world SHOULD feel empty - after all DayZ is not an FPS as you know. 2) If it would be that easy (regarding performance) there would already be servers to that cap for 3) I always see one locked testserver with 64 slots (and never any player on it^^), and have heard rumors of the goal goin up to 150 players. Well, rumors. But it will be possible in the future...at least more than 40 slots. And if not on the main hive, I'm sure somebody will go for the max on a privat server.

It SHOULD show everything but it doesn't. Hm...maybe it's not a bug and the thought behind is like this: because you can just see the things on top while you hold it in your hands. Or because Alpha. yep, so you can make it a 600 rounds box ;) afaik not more than any other item (though I havent found the time to play on the experimental by now) but yes, I encountered this too...but also with other items.

DayZ Standalone Server Policy: ...I mean, its in the Alpha rules for the Alpha of the Alpha servers. But thats already in it. And it has already been mentioned more than once: On private hives/private servers there may be a PvE/NO KILL policy but I'm pretty sure that this will never happen on the main hive. So if you really want this - wait. In DayZ. Yeah, that's what I always assume as soon as someone with a weapon crosses my path. Wow. So instead of letting people experience themselves what this game is (and I don't mean by letting them blind purchase it but e.g. let them play on your PC etc.) YOU decide whats best for them? Thats really paternalism of the worst kind. What did ya tell them? "Don't buy it, I know you've read that you can do what you want there, but some people interpret "do what they want" by robbing or killing you. You've seen youtube videos of people who got robbed, killed and did the same thing. But thats just videos. In the game, its different you get robbed and killed?" So...everyone playing on non-pve servers is a douche and/or a griefer? Generalization wins. Somehow I think, you could be one of these guys, who complain that chess isn't realtime but turn based... And just because it can't be mentioned enough: Wait for privat servers/privat hives - there will be PvE Servers, I guess. And no, I don't KoS. Because without the tension that comes from the freedom of choice for every player you meet (and you don't even have to meet them), DayZ loses its uniqueness.

So...still only Silent and me online, since KoSBuddy is for some reason still global banned and Psycho is not online....and Silent and I decided to start on a hardcore server - since our chars are dead anyway. I spawn north of Solnichny and find...a fire extinguisher and meet up with Silent again, before we make our way inland. I'll make it short: After wandering diagonal across the entire map (to NWAF), I had an FNX (but no clips) and my fire extinguisher (and I was already real good at killing Zeds with it: Hit to the head - 3 smashes on the ground, one more on the head when he stands up again), Silent had a Shotgun with some shells I found, so we enter NWAF from southeast, heading for the barracks there. I go first, crouch into through the hole in the wall look through the window into the barricades...and there is a guy with an M4. I lower the fire extinguisher (what a weapon^^) and step back and want to call friendly - as he opens fire. I run outside, behind the wall, heavily bleeding and hide behind a tree, Silent is lying somewhere (lost in the wood as usual^^) but he sees me, I hear shots and - You are dead. I shout to Silent "Run!" but since outside is nothing to hide, he decides to stay and fight, he shoots, hits, hits again, but the guy doesn't die (Shotgun with snaploader...yeah we didn't knew about that) - but Silent does after the guy hits him with the M4....respawn time. As usual I spawn at the 3 valleys, between Solnichny and Kamy (really, 9 of 10 times I spawn there) and Silent spawned...well. He didn't know. Big city, dangerous and all together not where he wanted to be. So he started running and guessed it was Solnichny where he was, so I started to make my way up north, but first I wanted to loot some of the houses where I spawned and drink - you'll never know what comes. And for sure first thing that happens: A military Zed sees me. So I start running and I lose him, in a circle I come back and enter the first house...suddenly I hear a moaning, I look around...and there are some feet at the top of the stairs. "Hey buddy...ahm...I can see your feet." I call up, the reponse? A step back. "Don't worry I'm a freshspawn and couldn't kill ya even if I would, but-" In that moment the Zed (that I appearantly did not lose) glitches through the wall and hits my face, I retreat and yell to the unknown guy upstairs "Woah. Stay up. Zed inside, i'll bait him away." And the most heroic thing I've encountered happened: A guy with nothing but starting clothes, a beanie and a baseball but charges out, but instead of attacking me, he starts swinging wild at the Zed (who hits back) and says "I got this. stay back, so I don't hit you!" But he gets wounded again, after some hits he gets the Z down, I bandaged myself in between and start to bandage him now - least I could do. And he still doesn't kill me, he thanks me, and starts to make his way south. Strange - that guy tried to save me and put his own life for me on the line...I hope he did not get KoSd or ghosted and stays as he was. As I reach Solnichny, I hear Silent say "Ah damn, I'm in Elektro...I guess." I sigh, but I loot fast the factory north of Solnichny (love that building) and found a fire axe this time, as I exit the factory and head south I see a new spawn. As he sees my, fire axe ready, he seps back and raises his fists "Yo buddy, don't worry. I'm firendly, I won't kill ya." He lowers his fists and comes closer, "hat?" I hear over voicechat so I repeat what I just said, he says "Do you have something to eat? Please?" I open my inventory to give him something, he comes closer and punches at me - suckerpunch misses me, inventory closed, three, four fast hits and he is dead "Goddamn idiot. knew where a splitting axe was and would have told ya." I say to his dead body - he literally had nothing, not even a flashlight. People are strange. In one minute you meet a guy that puts his life on the line for a stranger and in the next a guy that tries to trick you and kill you with hisbare fists... People ARE strange. -

It's not about believing what he worked or how old he is or if the Girl KoS is pictures of posting is really KoS' girlfriend named Helena. Its about that he had concerns about DayZ and addressed it (in rather let's say, not too eloquent) words, but he explained more than once why he is concerned and that his chose of words was not wise. While I still do not agree with him, I respect his concerns, no matter if he is a AAA developer, a 15 year old stoned punk that dropped out of school, a 5 year old gamingkiddie or a 125 year old WW I veteran or even Bill Gates. As long as he is not Sergey. @OP: The better walking dead title...that would mean telltale games? (and even if that was not a game but a interactive comic it was awesome) o.O I don't say I believe you, and I don't say I don't believe you or even believe that my guess is correct. I just say: The interactive comic...ahm...game from telltale was awesome, even if all the freedom of decision was faked. But awesome. So you are angry, because you made a topic that already exists at least twice and I told you that? The pictures of flare sticks already in the game as models but not implemented yet, was for the glowsticks/flaresticks that were mentioned in the thread. "maybe the one who post witout any tag!... look in the post u made wheres the tag?" I honestly don't know what you are trying to say with that sentence. The standard search function does not need tags, it's a textsearch....just type in the word, hit enter or click on the magnifying glass and there are these threads i mentioned....If you want to search for tags you have to go to the extended search and even there you have the possibility to search the text...

I know the solution for you Im call it the "sadistic logout": After you hit "logout" you have to wait 30 seconds but you see your char...but you can't react! So when you are finally logged out, you know that your character is safe...or dead ;) Everything else has been mentioned at least 5 times in this thread...so I just won't repeat it again. Go back and read it yourself :)
