Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Please ffs. The discussion goes in circles since page 1: 1) People that haven't read more than the title or the "interview" on eurogamer shout out their opinion and "facts" that are, in fact, wrong because they haven't read more or even thought about it and just wanted to rant 2) trolls try to start a flamewar 3) Someone tries to reason 4) Someone start insulting 5) someone comes in here and starts the circle of BS over again. (mandatory steps: 1 and 5) ------------------------------------aside, for triggy89, wolffe and others with the same thoughts------------------------------------ I'll do it one more time - really the last time - and try to be the voice of reason in this goddamn swamphole-thread: 1) Dean Hall has not stepped back as project leader by now 2) He will not step back as project leader until DayZ goes into beta 3) He estimates this to happen in late 2014. There is no set date on this. maybe he will work until december 20th 2014, maybe 5th march 2015. 4) He wants to step back for 2 major reasons: a) he thinks he is the wrong kind of personality to lead a project that is in beta and only gets polished and somebody with a different mindset would be better for the development of the game from the point where it goes into beta b ) it is impossible (for him) to lead a 50++ team from the other side of the world and he just wants back home - but continue to work as an advisor from there 5) He said in an interview in June 2013 that he wants to step back as project leader in (estimated at that time) 12 months (...which would have been be June 2014). So you could accuse him of again not holding on to a set date. And I haven't heard that he worked less hard since the time he first mentioned that he wants to step back back than... 6) Please, if you get hooked on the "flaws" thing in the interview, remember: He did NOT mean it that way as he explained over and over again. Search for the "fundamental flaws" discussion here, look out for my post (on the first page there) and read it. Please. 7) Judging someone you don't know or judging his job performance without having an inside view is just not nice and bad manners -

Stories of "Being Helpful"
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to JohnTheCynic (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Happened in Berezino, I was searching for something to eat and maybe a weapon, since the only thing I had was my fire axe and my good old Magnum... Before I could even enter the town, some guy with a red motorcycle helmet runs across me, looks at me, waves and continues running - suddenly "bang", a Mosin shot from rather far away, the guy drops dead only some meters away from me. I run like hell, a bullet misses me only be centimeters, but I make it to the towerblocks and hide in there, waiting, my Magnum drawn, pointing at the entry. After some time, a girl with a cowboy hat runs by, I call out "friendly, don't shoot",she turns around, draws her SKS, I move behind the wall and Q out. She doesn't seem to trust me, but she also doesn't try to kill me, instead she moves away backwards, the SKS pointing at the door. After she is gone I decide that it was enough Berezino for the day and head out north....and after some time I see the warehouse that is next to the railroad...abnd a guy lying there, looking out. I jump behind the wall and, once more, call friendly. We talk for a little through the wall, then I say "I come in, don't shoot, I'll have my weapon not drawn." As I go in I see the guy lying in the corner, and right next to him sitting the girl with the cowboy hat, both aiming at me with an SKS...but they don't shoot. I tell them about the unlucky guy with the motorcycle helmet and that they should not go to Berezino, since a sniper is sitting somewhere there and shooting at people. He laughs and explains that he got shot by that sniper, breaking his leg but got out somehow and hid here, while his friend - the girl - was taking the risk and went back to search for morphine or sticks to cure him, but got ambushed by the same sniper and had to run out of town. His luck was, that I had sticks in my backpack (never ever I walk around without sticks or morphine^^) and I gave them to him and also some cans of sardiens to get healthy faster. While he explains that I am the first friendly guy he met in DayZ and how happy he is that I took the risk of talking to them and coming in, to which I response that this behaviour has costed me already some characters...but well, it's not easy being nice in this game ;) Healed now, we decide to roll together as three and head for the shipwreck to loot it... ...and no, they didn't betray me, and also no, I didn't betray them - we talked, scavenged, looked out for snipers and had a good time before we had to split ;) -
Rad Doll: What do you want to see?
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to fortyeight's topic in General Discussion
O.O Like this one? That's what I call rag dog physics... ...and now for real:Yeah I understand your concerns and I also don't like the usual "ragdoll" of people that get shot in games...most of the time they look funny instead of impressive...but I'll just wait and see. As it is part of the physics, maybe its also needed for carrying/dragging characters (and bodies ;)) hiding them or...throwing them of houses? o.O Or the health sysem...broken arm hanging down....hm...ah I'll just wait^^ -

LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to LaughingJack (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Finally done (watched stream, noted, checked with iBanes list) ...but I was SO slow, Dean beat me with a rollout ;) whatever: The list in the first post is updated, including the "reverse" list (newest topic on top) and....yeah thanks for all the nice comments and the beans (and making a post of me "popular" whatever that means^^) :) -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I'll make this as short as possible: Mdogg: Nice trolling :) Did you feel sorry for Johnny or DayZForumer? ;) But I'd suggest derailing this thread with a debate over...well...ingame politics and electing a major of Cherno...or that KoS is the flaw in DayZ...or that the Zombies are the flaw in DayZ...or the Z in DayZ...or the Day in Wednesday....meh I'm not good at trolling. I'll call Johnny, that's his part. I reason, he trolls. randalmcdaniels: You are either a moron or an illiterate. Yeah I know, that's not nice from me to say, but in the freaking post ABOVE YOURS I wrote some things that would have made your post unnecessary if you would have read it. And I'm not talking about the other 40 pages of this thread. Oh wait, 42. joe_mcentire: Pf. Why not the Batman-letter-from-his-father thing? Karmaterror: Chill. Wait. I know from your posts you are one of the guys in this forum that is just committed to the game and tries to help and are now feeling let down. So I'll just say: read my damn posts in this goddamn swamp-hole of a thread. Just to make it short: the 10 months is no absolute date. In fact he stated that there is not date when he will stand back from development lead and work as an adviser for DayZ, only that he wants to do it until end of the alpha, because in his opinion he is not the right man for leading a development team that is fine tuning. DarkwaveDomina: Oh cmon don't fall for Mdogg when he tries to troll^^ Benjamin: Arma3 team and DayZ team do not share any personal apart from a few object designer if I remember correctly. Well maybe the janitor or the guy that brings the lunch, but I don't know about that ;) ....can we please let this thread die now? -.- -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
As usual I ignore DayZForumer since he is the most obvious troll since...well...Johnny. @FakePromise: I know the thread is long and full of BS, ragetears and whatnot, so this time I won't be mad because of repeating things... A few questions came in my mind after reading his statements on Eurogamer and his formal apology letter on Reddit: I didn't see an "apology letter" anywhere. And I think I quoted in this thread the whole freakin reddit dayz Sub already....2 times.... I only saw him trying to explain on what eurogamer quoted him, what got lost in a storm of rage. Essentially - for your points: As linked 2 or 3 times now (I'm to lazy to search it myself now, some post of mine and also other guys) Dean stated last year in June that he wants to go back to NZ and step down as project leader but continue working as advisor. He wanted to take this step in 12 months time (which would have meant June/july this year). Actually you can accuse him only of again not staying to the dates he mentions. When he starts to develop his climbing game by his own studio, will he say after a couple of months since the early access that his project is flawed and he will dump it after 10 months? Actually: Yes. I think that is what will happen. He will push a game to a Beta and let someone else lead from there on while he starts a new project. For flawed, please not he previous post (or that ebfore it) I amde in this thread. Has everything I could find about the "flawed" topic. e.g.: If BI makes him a new offer with increased percentage of royalties, will he change his mind and stay until final release? In my opinion: No. I have worked for 3 years away from home and in the end I just wanted to go back, even if it was a change for the worse regarding my income. If homesickness is your problem, I think you could somehow sort this out with the BI and work from NZ after you’ve completed, let’s say the 80%, of the work needs to be done. He responded to a similar question: Working yes, leading a 50++ team: no. Ad he will continue working for BI/DayZ but not as lead dev. You are a self-proclaimed leader, but a true leader doesn’t quit. At least not until the job is done. Not to mention that you are way too cocky and unstable for a developer who has only participated on only one game and that’s for the Alpha stage only. He is not the kind of leader, from his point of view, that is good for a game in a Beta, when all that is done is polishing and finetuning. He says, he is good at starting things and make people take risks. While I in can not judge the truth of neither the one nor the other, I'd say he believes hismelf what he says (may it be true or not) and acts because of this. -

LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Now the whining in the whining about the whining thread has started! And still no cheese in game to go with all that whine. We're all doooooooooooooooooomed! Edit. No, I don't care to be productive anymore in these threads. Tried my best, people can't obviously not read or don't want to, so go, die dumb, but leave your beans in the houses, i don't like your blood on them. -

LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Ah, I know I am too naive. But on the other hand...you have to believe in people, becaus eif you don't do it, they may have nobody that does. But I know what you mean....like that one on reddit where rocket answered too (and because I ahvent quoted this one by now, I'll put it here) Edit: Highlander: Go, search johnny and troll with him some other thread. This one is bad enough already and doesn't need further trolling :) -
I just repeat what I wrote in the other thread...you know...the one about the same topic with 40 pages... About abandoning the project: About the "flaw in the concept": About some other things: And again about leaving: And finally about why now: Back in June 2013 ( http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/06/21/interview-dean-hall-dayz-standalone-mountaineering-everest-game/ ) he said:

Grimey Rick standing down from DayZ within a year.
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I expected that always. Now, that he has some tzhousand beans, he just took them and run! Actually it is a good thing. Actually he did nothing to bring the game forward and even his trolling attempts were mediocre at best and ingame he was just a KoS-Freshspawn-PoS troll that couldn't even handle a rotten banana. The only question remaining: Why in a year and not now? Nah, I don't have anything against grimey. Nothing effective. -

...you DO realize he said the same thing in June (or was it july?) 2013? No? Well maybe because there was no website publishing a major article about it with a catchy headline... -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Really people? That's the DayZ community? That are the people, that bought an early access alpha even when the developer said "Don't buy it", because they believed in something - be it the game, be it the developer, be it the studio and played countless hours of a raw skeleton of a game, made thousands of stories, wrote even more suggestions, discussed features and ideas about this game, filed a million bug reports to make the game better? I was always a little bit impressed with the people here. Sure, there are a lot of whiners and trolls (the bad kind, not you, johnny) and a lot of threads in the General discussion that made my eyes bleed....but the majority of the people had heart and even if they called names, were stubborn and aggressive, you could always see that they cared about the game and the direction it would take. I know, most of these people that cry "he took our money and ran" have stopped reading by now, so it won't change anything to them, but maybe somebody else gets where I want to go with these lines. These reactions here...wow. You are better than that, people, at least most of you. Somehow I think that some people feel abandoned and hurt, because they trusted somebody a little bit and now they feel let down. I'll just start with some things Dean wrote on reddit: About abandoning the project: About the "flaw in the concept": About some other things: And again about leaving: Maybe I'm to naive, but I don't think he is lying here... -

LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I don't know what will happen, but somehow you had the same vision I had...well, but I can wait. This "new project" will be far in the future in until then I enjoy a nice round of DayZ...or more than one ;) But on the other hand...I don't know if that will happen fast (people wandering off, development stop etc.) -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
LaughingJack (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Well I don't think Dean should speak as a PR person for any company. I was also suspicious when he went to climb Mt. Everest while DayZ Alpha was released. I don't think it's ok, that he often does not know, what is in the game, what not and does he sometimes misses a clear concept when he talks or that he doesn't hand out the dev roadmap or set definitive dates for the release of milestones... But full of shit? I don't know why? Because he gives an announcment that he will leave in a year to go home, if he thinks the game is in a condition where he can account it? Or did ya mean sth else? -
