    Yeah, I understand that hope and share it ;) And as long it's only textures and not actual objects it's not a big problem I'd say, sure it's work and (at the moment) work that nobody has the time for, but i think we'll see a lot of these things in the future :) But objects (like corpses)...well thats something different because they could very easy "litter" the server (which means: lower Z count, lower loot count, worse server performance)... I don't wanna see corpses, because seeing every time the same corpse at the same place...i don't know it would be great the first time, but after that? A "stuck in time" moment for me. Crashed helis are already in (but have no loot atm i think), maybe there will come more...well...i think there will come more. There are also already some crashed cars where you'd not expect them ;)

    Good stuff imho, would fit he game and add a nice layer :) More melee attacks: Yes. And give the Zs the same options ;) Especially tackle and "cling" (with ragdoll it would be awesome...imagine one clings on your hand and you cant fire your gun, because the arm is shaked, you can only punch with the free hand XD...or clinging to your body/feet makes you slower (limping?)...ah, the possibilties ;)) Only "strangle"...well...i'm not sure about that. It makes sense, but I'd think its hard to implement in a PvP... And i want a "knockout" option when i have a stone in my hand ;) Afaik Hicks was asked about "one-hit-kill-attacks-from-behind" and his only answer was "Don't tell Dean about that"....so...well...maybe? But if, not soon I guess ;) But may also be hard (determine, where the other player is facing, is/was he moving etc.) , but i guess it could be possible. Maybe only with small weapons (machete, knife etc.? Would a) give them more important role and b ) from authenticitycutting a throat with an axe could be hard & swinging it may miss or the guy hears the swoosh and you don't hit perfect...) Yes. Tougher Zs. I loveexperimental respawn and sound attracting already;) But these beasts can be tougher and even more dangerous ;) Hell, mod was classic when you fought 2 zeds, and one hit you and broke your leg....deathtrap XD And "the more use for items on stuff" - I'm excited to see what the crafting system will bring ;) If it's built up like the devs said (in a way that they can expand it very fast an easily) there will be a lot of fun with duct tape XD

    What's that answer from you about? Really,...I don't get it. I try to explain what was said by the devs, in case someone missed it, suddenly you start talking about me how i defend the game and pretend that everything about the game is flawless and that I will quickly jump up and try and convince everyone its somehow the players fault not the games. Things I clearly never said, not even remote close to something I have ever written in this forum. I think, okay, maybe he just got a wrong impression of what I said and try to explain again why I wrote these things - not because I want to defend the game, show falsly that it's flawless or to convince anyone about anything, just because I want to clear things up, and you write "See my point exactly, an answer/ex[planation for everything" ? So you redirect me to your post, to which I just answered? Should I now redirect you to my previous post again to finish that deadlock correctly? Don't you like when someone explains his words or actions? Or was that just a new version of "tl;dr"? In that case: That's rude. Even for this forum.

  6. Well, it MAY look like it slowed down, because there isn't every week a stable-update. Imho, this happens for 2 reasons: 1) Everyone that wasn't needed to push out the alpha for release was working on something else, things that have been put in the game in the first weekly updates. Nowless of "fancy items" come in, since most of them are designed now. 2) HUGE things are coming. And i mean huge, compared to the previous patches. Physics. Persistant storage. Health system overhaul. Sure, the biggest part of these things is "behind the scenes" - e.g.: giving every object a material and a weight, so that physics can work correctly (not only falling down, but bouncing off if necessary, dropping over time when thrown etc. etc.) I'd say: Try experimental, new patch today, and also more often update sin the future (because stable will only get a bigger update all 3-4 weeks) Additionally, please read these posts one more time, just for understanding purposes :) TY :)

    Oh my, somebody tried to reason instead of flaming, he must be a troll! *lol* In fact, I troll only sometimes, so "as you always do" is a quite unfair generalization - most of the times I try to be helpful or, at least, only say my opinion and try to show how I came to that conclusion....but I guess you stopped at the first sentence of my post, hm? That's maybe why you came to the conclusion "[...] have seen you troll in many threads already. I expect nothing more of you." - don't stop at the first sentence, you might miss something. And don't be so hurt. I don't belittle you, you are doing that really great with your own posts. I just make jokes about that. And I don't try to wind you up, I just try to show you, sometimes with (mean) jokes, I'll give you that, where you are wrong from my point of view. But it's ok. It's far easier to point at somebody and say "He is SO mean to me, and he NEVER does something productive" instead of thinking about the own point of view and what others said about it and maybe change it a little bit. And btw...not the whole world is turning around you. I think this is my second post where I am directly answered to one of yours ever. I can be wrong, maybe it's the third. But what should I expect from somebody that wrote "I also agree that they should have used Arma 3 engine or should transfer over regardless of workload it would benefit the game dramatically.", a sentence, which shows that he has no clue what he is talking about. Why, you ask, I say, you have no clue? Read my previous post. I tried to explain why, in my opinion, a "porting" to ArmA 3 is just not possible for DayZ and why waiting for the finished engine would have been pointless. But you're right that adds nothing to the debate because, well, it's about...oh, yeah, using the ArmA 3 engine for DayZ. Edit: The first post in this thread was a trollpost. But just because there was a thread about the exact same topic going on for an hour or two already, when this thread was created.

    What does this sentence says us? Qbitzer hated hipster before us and thinks the term hipster is outdated for him. What does that make Qbitzer? ....yay :) And again: get a pitchfork or a hoe, a checked shirt, wellies, an ushanka ;) and yellow/brown working gloves and maybe a courier-backpack (small) - that will look like a farmer i think^^ Alternative: Replace shirt and ushanka with the clothes shown in this thread ;)

    I really never can say if AgentNe0 is a good troll or just a fool. Because, well, I pity the fool who thinks, that DayZ can be transferred to the ArmA 3 engine. Regarding mouse movement and aiming: In my opinion (really just the way I feel it) ArmA 3 went closer to the "classical shooter" aiming, than ArmA 2 ever was. But that may be just my impression. I'll just quote myself from another post about the exact same topic... BP is pretty amazing...but you can see its limits already, regarding what can be done (same as the DayZ mod saw the coming), because it uses again an engine, that wasn't built to support the game in such a way, but to be a military simulator. ANd hordes of Zs...well the DayZ mod had them too, remember? And with the respawning Zs in the SA + server optimization which will allow a higher object count per server, I'm pretty sure a lot of Zs are coming to the SA. Somewhere I read this analogy which fits imho real good: Imagine ArmA 2 as a small house with a shower (the Multiplayer) in in the second floor. Somebody started building a bathtub there (DayZ). The inhabitants were absolute happy, but soon demanded more and more, it should be bigger, have more things, made out of marmor etc. etc. But the stairs were too small to bring the things up, so a crane was put on top of the house and a hole was broken into the side of the house to bring it in. So the bathtub was getting bigger and better, but the house wasn't made for that and it became cracks and the water pressure destroyed the pipes, the floor was hanging through and nearly breaking and the neighbours brats were inserting nasty things in the pipes, since they had to be made outside the house... So, since there was no way to make the bathtub any bigger without completly destroying the house, a new house was built. This time with a bigger stair, hardened, waterproof floor, better pipes inside the house etc. etc. But the inhabitants only saw the bathtub, that was brought upstairs and as soon as water was running they demanded to bath, even if they were told, that it was not as comfortable or shiny or with all the funny extras they knew from the old bathtub, hell not even the roof of the new house was finished and sometimes it was raining straight into the bathtub. But since they were begging and begging, they were allowed to bath - and they complained about the missing of the shiny things they were used to, the cold water that sometimes came out, the rain that fell through the roof, and that these idiotic brats still were able to get to the pipes, because some windows were missing. But you could see that now it would be nice, because the bath would be bigger, better without destroying the house. So saying using the Arma 3 engine is saying "Well someone built a new house, very beautiful with a very nice kitchen. I want my bathtub in there."...whereas it has the same things (small staircase. Pipes on the outside. floor that can't handle the weight. etc.) as the old house. To make it short: Yes, it would maybe been better if they would have gone with the ArmA 3 engine from the start. But no, it would not have been better, because until they would have finished reworking the whole engine to fit DayZ (like they did with the arma 2.5), ArmA 4 would have been out and this whole discussion would have started again with different numbers...

    Wut? Please explain me how that sentence: is anyhow a game-defending one or even sounds like "I try to defend my girlfriend"? O.o I explained something, because I heard it fromt he devs in a Q&A stream, to someone who obviously didn't knew this (same with the post before). So...I really don't knwo where you got that idea. I just get annoyed when people don't read anything in a thrad but the title, storm in "hurr durr shitload" and write, in fact, the same things that have been discussed all along. A LOT of aspects of the game need tuning. Hell there are some extreme disturbing bugs in the game, huge lacks that are onyl filled slowly etc. etc. You don't know many posts from me, hm? But nice from you to judge me by one sentence. And pointing things out in general discussion is close to worthless for developing. Wanna help? Post in the suggestion sub, on reddit, or even better, write in the bugtracker. I also can't remember to say anything like that... True. But again: No hurt feelings on my side, and they don't get hurt when someone criticizes a game....really. Maybe I get annoyed if people don't read or don't think here, but that's it. That's true. that's why i only pointed the ones out, where I knew something about...? Again: Wut? No I wont....at least not until I really think so. But you have a vivid imagination^^ So one more time in one sentence: I don't really defend anything, I just explain things I happen to know because I read them/saw them/heard them. And now I have the feeling, I need another coffee...

Can't remember)Characters life has no value to the player nowWhich resulted in: The game should be so freakin dangerous that player are FORCED to play together. Not because they have to, or because they can't shoot at each other, but because it's the only way to survive. Edit: Also, what Nesuma and solodude said. Sorry i let your out of my prophecy. ^^ Edit2: Damn I forgot Grimey...he will also stop by and make a troll attempt, disguised as...well..most of the times I don't know what he writes. And now i wait for my prophecy to come true because, as usual, the next 3 posters will read this and after that the debate will start all over again. Or maybe not even them, because they just read the title and maybe, maybe the OP and answered directly.

    Please read my post (right above yours) and stop comparing building an engine from the base to porting everything you already have to an existing one. ArmA 3 engine for DayZ would have meant (again) building it like it was done for the 2.5 arrowhead heli engine...

Since you obviously don't know them, here's a shortcut what will happen, because it happened the last 3 times: tommes will storm in and brag about that he always told it, DayZ is doomed. Doooooomed. skinheadarmy will follow up with a similar view but better arguments and actually being not such a douchebag, but he also wont listen to any arguments after that highlander comes and tells you that only a skillsystem will give the characters enough value, so that people care about keeping them alive inception comes and mocks highlander for pointing this out again, highhlander drops off the thread Mdogg or johnny come to troll you KoS storms in and starts writing in his russian accent, telling you what he thinks I post a smartass comment about the state of the game and future planned things Hetstaine states the obvious right thing Some young gun comes in and writes the exact same thing, that someone said 3 or 4 posts ago some other noob blames Dean hall and gets flamed orlok stops by, makes a joke and leaves someone starts calling names orlok comes back, threatening Windowlicker tries to be nice and explains for th 7th time in different words what actually happened and where may be flaws in your thoughts Other users step in and start the whole debate again because, f*ck nobody here can read And in the worst case DayzForumer comes and starts making bad troll posts, so that any one is annoyed and stops debating The thread dies after 2 days, because it reaches page 3 of general discussion and nobody ever goes to page 3 or beyond. not even orlok nows what there really is. ----------------------propheycy end, topic again ----------- I think you may be right (although I have to add, a very similar post existed already, but ...ell....if orlok can't remember it, it never existed maybe ;)).     Dead Linger...ie? Srsly^^ They changed from a selfmade engine (had the same plans as DayZ - homemade engine so that it supports all things that are planned for the future and is built extra for this game and its needs) to the ready-to-use Unity engine, because they couldn't do it with the own engine (and it looked...well..crappy. and I play dwarf fortress. I normally don't fear bad graphics) So a switch to a "ready to use" engine is quite a difference, because a switch for DayZ from the "totally rebuilt DayZ engine, which is an advancement of the arma 2.5 heli engine especially made for DayZ" to the "ArmA3-DayZ-engine-that-would-also-have-been-built-up-from-scratch-again-to-be-used-for-DayZ" (witch would mean we could play DayZ SA maybe in January 2016. Maybe.) would NOT be that easy.

    Ahm....Yes, you are right, and (i hope) inbetween all are aware of that....but actually (if you read the last 2 pages or so), we were debating the changes being made to DayZ within the last update and where it might lead etc. ;) and eben before that, the discussion was already about other things as well ^^ But you are right in reminding us unknowingly, that this might be the wrong thread for that discussion ;) Oh my, I have to report my own post to Orlok...that thread is derailed...and...it can be closed....FINALLY! ;)

    Actually it's primary an anti-combat logging mechanism. And your session length doesn't change the 30 seconds (and it should not afaik)....but the login timer (which is against server hoppers) works somehow that way: if you leave a server and have not played more than 30 minutes on it, you'll recieve a penalty time up to 5 minutes before you can join another server...just adding this here to make sure it is known ;)

    Oh, Dean would LOVE it. Not because it's his "baby" (and it is; as a programmer you hate your programs as much as you love them - just because you made them. Sounds strange, is strange, but that's how I feel about every program I did a big part of ;)), not because in the end it's only HIS reputation not BIs that stands or falls with DayZ, and not because of the royalties h might get - just because (and I'm pretty sure on that one) he wants to see it become popular and played all over the world and bring people joy, even if it is not perfect in his mind. But well, he said he finds flaws in everything he does, even when he drives he criticizes himself for things he could have done better.^^ I don't know if it will be perfect, but I think it will be great. And perfection...well...you never know when you may have reached it. ;) That's the mean part about perfection - because something can always be done better. And for DayZ...there will be flaws (there are always flaws in every game), but as I said: I believe, it will be a great game with so much more inside than being a "Zombie Game". I wish you were into programming, so that you could analyze, like I do it, every update that comes and think at some points "Wow. I did not think that this would be possible with that engine and the things that are in there by now. They must have programmed it total into the base of it months ago, to get it work that way now." ;) Yeah I know, I'm a strange dude, but heck, I'm a programmer. Most of us are in one way or the other ;)

    Thou shalt not swim in DayZ. Never. NEVER. Well expect you spawn there. ...but swimming is awful I'm totally with you on that. But I don't think it's going to be looked into soon, since it's not a core mechanic...maybe only the spawn point will be deleted...

    That was awesome. Short, on the point and mean. I like Canadians in this forum. Meh I have a bad conscience now...so I'll answer: No, it wasn't. Performance is an ongoing task for the devs and with removing desync, getting rid of bottlenecks etc. we will see performance increases in the future. MAYBE they will lead to more Zombies+more loot but not more FPS since they are serverside, but I am pretty sure, at the end of the Alpha, the performance will be a lot better.

    Well, as I said: Most of these things are already going to be fixed/already fixed on internal/worked on. And really, if THESE things bring anyone to throw their monitor out the window because they miss the patience, well, I hate to say it, DayZ is the wrong game for you. You need more patience in this gae than in any other. Maybe expect Ninja Gaiden 2. But that was just unfair.
