    Can we destroy loot while it's on the ground?

    If I had to take a guess, i'd say it would be implmented (if it ever will) on object base level, which would mean: Everything that has a damage indicator (so...everything you can pick up^^) can be destroyed.

    Yes....hm....no. That's what I read (quite some time ago, can't find any newer things to this: when a server starts, only some random amount of loot is spawned. Every other lootplace gets a random timer from 30 (?) minutes up to..well...hours. Everytime something is looted, the random timer is set again, like it was an initial spawn. So it would also solve the server hopping issue, at least a bit ;) But server restarts would be necessary anyway i think - at least ArmA needs that to clear the cache/ram/drive because otherwise the performance goes down like hell after some hours...

    Actually yes, the loottables are always under construction (due to test purposes = make new items extremly common) and as I read is one of the topic that is looked (again) into: why some houses don't spawn loot....seems still not totally resolved (at least on experimental) Well, let's look out what is rising upon us in the future (hopefully) : And when the loot respawn starts (I STILL hope they haven't changed their plans on that [you know: when a server starts, only some random amount of loot is spawned. Every other lootplace gets a random timer from 30 minutes up. Everytime something is looted, the random timer is set again, like it was an initial spawn...]) Lootable food might get rare when hunting is in...Water will have the possibility to make you sick when you dont purify or cook it...so getting healthy will not be that easy anymore... (Somehow i got the intention now to hoard gas stoves...) Military weapons will be rare when improvised weapons come (and also the ammo will not so common i hope) so that this part may also take some time... And maybe when they change finally the doors thy physic objects they will have all behaviourswhen they spawn, from open to closed and every mm inbetween, so you never can be sure that somebody was there or not... XD ...so when all these things are in (if they come that way etc. etc.), it will take quite some time to gear up...and I don't even mean "endgame gear"^^

    Hm...continue playing on experimental?^^ AND: Waiting here in the forum, for the first one to complain that the Zs respawn and that they are too strong and omgwtf....

    Well...only a guess: he may played "normal" and everytime he had a new weapon he headed for the gas station....and well, some houses...I have looted them so often, I could recreate the loottable i think^^ But still...the knife...28 minutes *lol* But again don't relate on that: It's outdated due to the new melee animations...

    That might actually work maybe...if their Vest/hoodie/whatever is not ruined, place items in there and shoot at the body...maybe it ruins the items....have never really watched out if the status of the clothing gets worse when you shoot at the dead body wearing it......*hm* gotta try that out some time...And for guns: Hide them in houses that never have loot.l Ever. So only real desperate or new players will find them ;)

    Well there is a youtube video about that zopic, but it is outdated with the newest patch (new melee animations) And you are right: Both axes and the fire extinguisher rock, everything else...meh. Especially wrench and crowbar are due to its extreme short range awful...with the new mele animations it is impossible to hit a zombie that hasn't noticed you with the crowbar...only when he attacks you, you've chance of hitting him. But I don't know of an ranking table for melee weapons...hm...maybe i'll try it out myself on the gas station^^ Ah...here is the (no outdated ;)) video:

    How does a "rotten" apple become "pristine"?

    This had to be done now, sry: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright i'll be constructive: I guess there are 2 indicators. One, that every Object has - the "Damaged" factor from pristine to ruined. And one, that only consumables can have: fresh or rotten. I guess when the items are created through the loottable every item gets a random status ranging from badly damged to pristine - also fruits. Additionally fruits have (i think it's also somehow randomized) chance to be either rotten or fresh, so they get the secon indicator set as well. Since the status of objects just started to affect them (ruined items can not be used anymore), such things are just in because they all share the same main object type, which has to has the damaged indicator... i think that the Damage-indicator is a somethinf that will be set to invisible for the fruits sooner or later...or maybe used as an additional value to estimate how nourishing a fruit is...^^

    ...and if you play on a server with more than 3 people, chances are high that in 7/10 (rough guess) tries either a ) both are looted or b )you get shot there. ...and on Exp, zombies are a pain in the ass if you don't have soem sort of good melee weapon (axes, fire extinguisher..).... especially in bigger towns, since they have a little bit better pathfinding and can walk up stairs...well sometimes^^ But yes, that's right. Only the houses you know that will spawn food (like the one with the small glassed veranda) and stop for pumps... Can't wait till you need water purification tablets if you don't want to risk getting sick ;) ANd maybe the amount of lootable food will go down when hunting is in...i hope so...but THA the moaning will start here^^ Yeah...but, every game gets easier the longer you play it, but well, let's see what happens (weapon-wise) when the improvised ones come and (if) Dean keeps his word and military ones get super-rare...well, or we leave the alpha and we don't have to test new guns, so the amount of all goes back..

    Nope. Because people are blind it seems. Just search every house that normally spawns loot, even if the doors are open. in 1 out of 3 cases you'll find somethign that the person who looted there did not see or did not want^^ And water...pumps. Or even the water near the shipwreck. or loads of pipsi ;) Was only close to dying when I crossed Berezino because my only weapon at that time was a crowbar and with the new melee animation you can't hit a Z properly because the range is so freakin short... Edit: But i still would run around with my trusty fire extinguisher (that thing is a Z killer if you know how to aim with it ;)...but it makes you soooo easy to spot...), because i wound't have found an axe by than, if I hadn't traded with the one guy... Edit2: Missed to mention: Shipwreck was also looted. Only found a load of shotgun shells there...^^

    Well, spawned fresh on exp yesterday, north of Solny so: - Experimental - No hopping= stick to the first server you entered - Population between 15 and 30 2 hours (would have been one but someone hopped at NEAF (I even saw them logging...grrr...) and there were 4 guys running around in Svetlo, so I had to circle around a bit) Healthy, backpack (courier^^), axe (traded with a guy I met against some Mosin rounds, only had a fire extinguisher ;)), SKS with around 80 shots (i had bullets for every weapon in the game until I found a gun...) - police stations rock ;), nice outfit (black helmet, combat boots, green hoodie, green cargo pants etc.) and a lot of food+canteen...

    Rate the Morality of these Kills

    Every kill can be justified in DayZ, not one has to. From my Point of view... Kill 1: 10 Kill 2: 1 Kill 3: 1 Kill 4: 1 Kill 5: 8 Kill 6: 1 Kill 7: 5 Kill 8: 10 So, 1,5 and 8 would've been situations where I would have shot as well, probably 7 too. But the other ones? Meh. Especially 2 and 6 was unneccessary...not sure about #3....

    Oh noes! He discovered our secret! Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun! We meet in (new) Zealand! And hopefully he doesnt discover the real secret: That cheaters are banned in waves, so that people buy cheats, get banned. Then they have to buy DayZ again and again and again. There are only 31 players in DayZ. the rest of 1.5 million copies was sold to the same person again and again because of this. It's Grimey. But don't tell anyone. Shhhhhhh.

    Hurt meatshield is hurt and feels obviously weak now ;) Where's KoS ifyou ned him to give you some vodka and tell you about the value of KoS?^^ I usually don't hold people up...oh well I did twice. first time at Balota because he was somehow freakin me out because he was SO relaxed, that I thought he might plan something. So he got handcuffed, i stripped down everything he had and stuffed it in his backpack. The second one...well, met in Solnichniy, he came out of a house I wanted to go in, both had the weapons in hands, a second of silence, then both screaming "Freeze!" at one another at the same time, followed by "Your gun down!" followed by "No, YOU!", just like it was scripted...a moment of silence, loud laughter from both. Was a nice guy, even when he shot two freshspawns directly after that when they entered the city...

    your first interaction with another player

    My first encounter was....a night time server....Psycho (a buddy of me, if you read my stories you know something about him already ;)) spawned somewhere south. so we decided to play the old "run along the coast until we meet" game. Well it didn't come that far. I was crossing kamyshovo, my flashlight on because it was pitch black - suddenly a guy jumps out behind a corner in full military gear and shoots me - i nearly got a heartattack because of him^^

    Casuals and DayZ

    Sry, had to fix that for you. I'm an archer myself (Barebow) and really, everything a normal man could "craft" with the knowledge from movies and pictures (and without the internet to give him advice ;)), would result in said way. Try it yourself, a simple bow: Find a stick, a totally straight one. Now find something that you can use as bowstring, make a bow and shoot an arrow you crafted yourself. You'll see the results. But INGAME it'stotally ok for me, that we will be able to craft a bow and shoot with it (which is harder than shooting a gun imho, especially if you want to aim at something...) but "anyone with basic knowledge can craft a rustic bow"...not even a rustic bow. Not even a somewhat bow. A thing that may look like a bow but doesn't work as intended.
