I go Solo, and always hardcore. Love not having my back covered. Made mistakes and I’ve been too gun-ho more times than I care to count. Generally I’m a wood nomad, cautiously stalking from the edge of the woods but very rarely snipe. I’ll slip into town, tracking the intruder. Much prefer close range confrontations, corner of a street, down a staircase and such. The Magnum handgun has been my best friend in DayZ. Will only kill if I believe the fellow has a good loot. A large backpack, couple of rifles are excellent indicators. The binocs are my 2nd best friend ! No communication required whatsoever from my end, no warning, no taunting. No particular story to tell. Success rate is at best 55% ! Red

How do you get starved with the current built ? Food and water are all over the frigging map ! Only happens to me while crawling for hours with broken legs, and even then, someone or a Zed usually puts me out of my misery. I sense a lame excuse for a totally appropriate behaviour (in-game) ! :D Red

Hola All, Haven't found any definitive answer on a quick search, so there it goes : Do you actually need a frying pan / cooking pot to cook a steak or a fish ? Found a cooking pot yesterday and, as a pre-emptive move to the upcoming update, dumped it in my backpack (4 slots if I remember), very irritating ! A stick should suffice, or an empty can. Hell I used to do that as a Boy Scout ! Tastes better too :) Are we gonna get aircon for our tents eventually? I think it is a must. ;) Red

Happened to quite a few of us I suspect. When i respawn as a Bambi and should not, I log off immediately. Then I check my server history and try to rejoin the server I was in a little earlier while geared, making sure still on the same hive Casual vs Hardcore. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Axes forged out of quality steel should last a lifetime and beyond if you don't go on hitting reinforced concrete ! Some sharpening now and then, and probably replacing a handle, that's about it. The damages brought to an axe in DayZ is all about forcing you out of the woods, and be a little social :rolleyes: Red

Do you guys actually collect cans of food ? I never do since they are more or less all over the place. Whenever I find one, I eat it all immediately, done with it. I do however alway keep a bag of rice & water to fix me up rapidly. Does anyone know if cans will become sparse once hunting is implemented ? Red

Consider yourself lucky. It usually goes : Hide your loot Get in your undies Swim to that faraway island Land on the beach Get gunned down A fun variant could possibly be a server restart upon landing on the beach, haven't tried yet. Red

I've learned to welcome character wipe-out, much less traumatic than getting gunned down exiting a chalet :rolleyes: Red

Tried shooting a rabbit point-blank range with my Mosin, I ended up bleeding. I suppose the darn bullet bounced back at me. At least that's the only explanation I could come up with at the time. Crafty little buggers Red

Hola All, Curious on how the zeds deal with the following situation. Let's imagine you and a mate hiking in the woods, a horde of aggro zeds gets on you. Both of you fight what seems to be a losing battle, and so you think, "stuff this, I'm out of there", and promptly bash your mate hard. He's down, broken leg or whatever. Will the zeds focus on him, giving you a lucky break ? Mind you, not that I'm planning to do it. But would love to have an answer <_< Gaming rig down, so no testing my end. Red

Does anyone know if cooked / warm food will have a different effect on your char than, let's say, cold friggin beanz out of a can. Maybe faster healing of some sorts or better endurance ? Afterall, in a survival situation, warm and cooked food is probably of great comfort, at least a psyhological one, nope? If there is no benefit, nobody will bother and stick instead to cold beanz and tuna. Red

Also got that message a few times. Brushed it off as "admin messing with my mind" kind-of-thing. I've since watched DayZ Mosin sniping vids on youtube - darn - I'm not so sure anymore. Sneaky buggers are ruthless, and surely watching me <_< Red
