The only problem is that Dean is trying to make a zombie survival simulator, so the more military grade weapons are added, the more it just turns into an action shooter, with zombies. Military weapons are designed to kill people with ease, if your running around with military weapons, you can just mow down zombies without difficulty, and the challenge then becomes PvP, which will mean that's what the focus of the game will be. I mean, if that was Dean Halls plan then fine, but like i said he said he wanted to not have many military grade weapons in so the focus of the game shifts more towards the survival aspects. Bandits may be always more of a threat than zombies in a way, but if they make killing the zombies more traditional, meaning only head shots will kill and they increase the amount of zombies are in an area, which i know they plan on doing, then zombies will at least be somewhat of a threat.

They're adding an AKM, SVD, and files for a grenade launcher are in game. I'm sure they'll be adding in more too. EDIT: Just found out they're gonna add in the FN FAL at some point too, another military weapon...

The bow and arrow aren't out yet because they want to implement the physics engine first, for travelling patterns from the arrow. They want the arrow to skip along the ground and stuff. I think mostly, they were focused on just getting the game to work, having buildings and loot that spawns, etc. I think they just added in a couple guns just so people could have a little fun while the game continues to be worked on. What I am worried about is the fact they are working on adding more military grade weapons, which dean said he didn't want to do.

I'm a little confused, why has their choice in weapons made them inconsistent with what they want?

Making the Machete more of a "Machete"
srgntpepper replied to Holliday (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I agree, it feels lackluster, they even gave info about how its supposed to be a mans weapon, but it feel like shit and it looks bad. A machete is way bigger, its supposed to be about as long as your arm. They also need to find a new place for players to carry it, instead of stuck into your back. I mean, im sure realistically if you hacked that thing into your back it would stay and all, but, it just breaks the immersion if you know what i mean ;) . Also, it needs it own animation, like how the pitchfork has one, the machete should be like a downward hay-maker type swing. -
1873, 1894, 1866, They're all bad-ass and I would be crazy excited either way.

I was saying the 1866 because it was the first model, the most popular and desired model, it was an innovated rifle for its time that led the way for all the other Winchester lever action designs. It's like saying a car collector would rather take a later model Camero over a 1966. It would be about the appreciation of the gun most likely, which is why I would assume they'd get a 1866, besides the dayz mod already has a 1866 Winchester in it, so it would be easier to make for the SA
-
oh, and uh. From the DayZ mod: Winchester m1866 Would be sick if they added a little design on the gold plate, and made it a little brighter, jus' sayin'

I think having one spawn on the map at a time would even satisfy me, idk, you'd be surprised what you can find in poor areas of the world, someones own little paradise sometimes. I guess we just see this differently is all.

So what your telling me, is that there are ZERO Winchester's anywhere in Eastern Europe? That the Winchester can ONLY be found in america? I doubt that, besides, I said to make it super rare, I think that is more realistic. You can find any type of gun anywhere in the world, Europe does not only have European guns, just like America does not only have American guns. Now, that being said, I'm sure there are a lot less Winchesters in Europe than in the US, but where there are Winchesters, the owner was probably a gun collector, which is why he would most likely have the 1866 model.

Master List of Equipable Items the Community Wants in the Game
srgntpepper replied to - Karma -'s topic in Suggestions
Hey, you should add winchester on the list, don't think i saw it. and utility belts, police and construction, they would fill the same slot as vests -
hahah, I think this should be the one exception, you know Europeans would have a fun time with it :D Besides, we don't have an american DayZ map yet, why not satisfy everyone?
-
fuck the 1895, they should add in the super classic 1866 model, make it rare and beautiful Vid from the same guy: 17:40 he tries to rapid fire it
-
uhhhh, mountain lions are native to america, not europe....

in ww1 and ww2 europeans were given rations of cigarettes and alcohol. The alcohol helped them through the cold harsh winters and the cigarettes i think were for morale. I think drinking alcohol should help the muscles relax for cold weather. Im sure the servers at some point will have snow, which should result in being cold and giving you the shakes. I think having a moderate dose of alcohol should help calm the muscles, which would help the shakes. Cigarettes would just be awesome to have in game, just for fun. I think those are the only ones that should be added in, if any others were added in, I think it should be marijuana and heroine like arma 3 altis, with the same side effects

No player list and no # of players when joining server.
srgntpepper replied to smashingkivi's topic in Suggestions
right now, with loot not having a re spawn timer, i think there should be a list of how many people are on, just to save the frustration of hopping on a cleaned out server. Also, there should be a list of players so friends have an easier time finding each other -
FoV abuse, scatter when snapshoting, on-screen dot and zoom issues
srgntpepper replied to FrostDragon's topic in Suggestions
a normal persons FOV is about 180 degrees, the normal setting for first person shooters is about 90 degrees. Dean said he wanted to keep 3rd and first person an option because the FOV is cut in half, whereas realistically your FOV should be double that. That being said, they need to fix the zoom and being able to see over walls and around corners from 3rd person. I don't think there should be increased scatter from snapshot, shooting your gun from the hip while NOT moving maybe be on point, but moving scatters the on-screen dot, so snapshotting and moving at the same time are hard enough and if a person hits someone while in that mode while using a semi automatic, they just made a lucky shot. Shooting someone at very short range with an m4 feels right so far. Thats the only situation i could see you having a problem with as far as snapshots go. Basically, im saying its not important to make snapshot have increased scatter. I also dont think it really matters to take aim dot away in hardcore. I never use it anyways. I do agree, zoom needs work -
i think that's a great idea, the city and towns should be full of zombies, but the woods have no threat. A zombie survival should always have a threat. There should be constant concern over survival.
-
would be hard to do, but i hope they do it for people like this.

I think we should be able to place flashlights and gaslamps on the ground while theyre on. Maybe u can do this already, but I couldnt figure it out. It would be nice to be able to do this so you can arm yourself at night with weapons without having to have a headtorch. That or we should be able to equip single handed weapons while holding a flashlight

Squeaking , noisy doors that click and thud.......
srgntpepper replied to zonn44's topic in Suggestions
I agree with audio on the doors, kind of like rusts, except not as fucking loud and just the occasional squeak -
<Slow Clap> I am alpha testing the ability to run around a forest!
srgntpepper replied to paulcurtis26's topic in Suggestions
wow, ur so bitter. The game(yes, im gonna say it, because you don't get it) is in EARLY ALPHA. The price you pay gets you the game at about half the release price. I don't know what your bitching about, you got a deal. If you don't like its current status, stop playing until they have more shit to offer you. They've already done quite a bit of work in the last 3 months and they just doubled the size of their team. If you want to find some place to complain, the forums aren't really the place to do that -
ya, ive been using it in experimental and the gaslamp looks really cool, ill have to keep trying to place it on the ground

Global objectives that would give a purpose in surviving
srgntpepper replied to VonHabdekeiten's topic in Suggestions
Dean has mentioned that when the game is close to completion, he wants to add in global objective with different purposes, like working together and other things -
eh, I dont really think its necessary. I think we should be able to drag cuffed poeple tho, I think you should be able to move forward, with them in front of you, so you can drop them off buildings and shit too, lol
