Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002

I never said they promised anything. However, with their last few updates being titled "weekly" updates, that insinuates an update per week, that's what weekly means... I never said they broke a promise, they don't have to have a weekly update, it is unprofessional to title something as weekly, but not make it weekly, it also makes things confusing. -
I agree Hathcock was probably the best sniper of all time. It was a prestigious Vietnamese sniper called Cobra that he shot through the sniper scope. http://youtu.be/AVJONj95so4 He basically outsmarted Cobra, put him in a bad position where you could see the glint off his scope and killed him. Also, I trust this video a little more I know the PU scope would work, but I don't exactly know about the long range scope, doesn't look very modern to me though, in fact I don't think anything in DayZ is modern. Also, I don't know for a fact, but I would assume honeycomb, though it would work, would have an affect on the visibility looking through the scope. I also hear that the DayZ devs want to add in 3D camo to weapons, so that might help. So sure, you could do all that, or you could just be careful of your positioning.....

duck tape might fuck up your scope too. Some residue might stay, then cleaning it could scratch the lens, anyways, there would be a point to adding in the mechanic of reflections. It would force snipers to be smarter, not just some dude that found a mosin and a hill

so much for a weekly update -
I'm not sure what kind of gun they were using, so we don't know the caliber of the rifle. I'm thinking the guys from myth busters were not shooting a powerful enough rifle to know for sure. That show barely seems scientific too, so idk if I trust them. Even if they are right though, and the bullet would most likely not go through, it still would be a good idea, like they said in the video to take the shot because you can still nail the dude in the head. Lol, the anti-reflecting scope, or whatever that was is probably a great invention, but I doubt you'd be likely to find that in most places in the world, let alone the 3rd world country of Cherarus

ahahaha, you think snipers are the big worry, half the people at airfields just creep around corners and shoot people in the back. The fog would help though
-
I was saying they could implement this on other things as well, so yes, they could put reflections on many things for other uses as well. Lets be real dude, the point of adding this in would only happen if it was useful, so of course they aren't going to add it in the dew in the grass, your being ridiculous if you think they would have to do that. I don't think its ridiculous to add it in scopes, or any type of shining unpainted/untextured metal or glass materials. You don't see a noticeable shimmering light off someones sunglasses and they don't have belt buckles in the game, also you would most likely have clothes covering your buckle. As far as I can think of from whats in the game now, im talking: PU Scope LR Scope Splitting ax Fire ax (just from the tip) Magnum That's not a very long list. Some other things wouldn't shimmer because the finish on the object, isn't shiny, is the only description I have for it. Like the Amphibian had a rough metal finish. They could add in a couple things though, like broken glass.

ya, im saying if he is facing the sun and not in shade, etc. So if your in Berezino and there is a sniper at dusk facing the ocean, (the direction the sun is setting), it would be easier to see a glint. I wouldn't want there to always be a glint, that would be rediculous.
-
Wait what? what is biased about it? Is it not a fact that light reflects?
-
hahaha, that would be funny If you could point the banana at people like a gun too
-
This is interesting, but I think it would discourage a lot of people from trying the game. There is already an overwhelming amount of information for new people in the game, it takes a while to learn and get everything down, adding this might just discourage any newcomers. Interesting idea though.

I think finding a generator that conducts electricity should be doable, but I think they should focus on that after they have survival, physics and cars and all that shit in game. Like maybe something to worry about after base building is almost done. But it would be cool to even use electricity off a car battery.

fog would be so fucking awesome and would definitely fit the theme
-
I think thats not a bad idea, as long as we can get through the steps about as fast as we can push the buttons. Over time, someone who knows guns should be able to reload pretty comfortably and quickly, so as we play the game more we should be more familiar with reloading and doing it quickly. I think thats a cool idea, as long as to reload we dont have to open and click drag to the gun.

whoops, how do i delete my post lol?

Head shots are traditional to zombie movies/stories/games. Has nothing to do with the walking dead. Thats like saying True Blood vampires are different, lol.

I'm not opposed to making the map bigger, like I'd be down, but dude, the map is already massive. It might benefit them more to wait till release to make the map bigger, just to get a sense of how many people are going to average a server. I'm sure they would be afraid of the servers feeling too empty because the map is so big, even with 50 people. Fuck, your talking about like, quadrupling the size of the current map, everyone could have their own fucking cities to call home with that size, lol . If the servers get full enough, maybe in the future I could see them expanding the size of the map and increasing the player cap, but most likely they'll just release new maps that are separate from Chernarus
-
if they wanna add in more military guns, but make them rare then that's fine, as long as rare is like, just a couple of each per server. As far as server hopping goes, Rust uses a great system that gets rid of server hopping for loot. In that game, if u hop to a different server, u have to start over on that server, everything is saved per server. I know, Rust isn't DayZ or whatever, but its still a great idea in my opinion. They also eliminated combat logging by making your character drop to the floor and go to sleep when you log out. Again, I know, that's Rust, but I think it would benefit DayZ eventually too, maybe not in its current state, but eventually. As long as zombies are much more of a threat, then I'm down with whatever, I agree that there shouldn't be anything ridicluous to kill too.
-
The lore from the DayZ mod says they're not idea, just infected. Honestly though, I think dean should change it to head shots anyways, its just too easy otherwise, and it would be more epic to have a bunch of slow moving groups of zombies coming your way that might overpower you than have a few fast strong one, just my opinion. That's from the mod, this is the standalone, it's technically a different game, so this would be the time to change the lore. I think your right basically, it would make the game so much harder
-
would be tight, but that's probably a huge pain in the ass to make happen, and it probably wouldn't bring anything to the game that would benefit it. U can snapshot steam pics and share them if u really want to.
-
no way, you can already trade with players. The system they use now is more realistic, someone can jip you, that's part of the risk, I don't think they should take away element like that in this game. Items disappearing when they're dropped is temporary and probably from the LOD problem they're fixing right now.

Dude, I want that whole fucking outfit in game, with the dog. They should just fucking style the whole game after mad max, would be soooooo awesome!
-
I don't think its more weapons, just more military grade weapons that makes the focus PvP oriented. If they had more civ weapons and almost no military weapons, maybe buff the characteristics of different melee weapons and make zombies more of a priority through adding more of them and making them harder to kill, then the focus would be that, although there would still be plenty of pvp still, which is fine and awesome. If they had weather play a huge factor too, then the combo of bad weather plus zombies could really fuck with people and force them to focus on surviving that situation. Like a player just turns a corner in elektro and there's a horde of zombies that turn and chase him, then some stormy, hurricane style weather rolls in. The player is forced to find shelter and possibly deal with a horde of zombies with only a fire axe and double barreled shotgun. At that point it would be, fuck killing the other player for gear, because you'd need each other to fucking survive that shit-storm your both in. Just the concept I'm trying to point out, not that exact situation.

lol, mountain lions do exist, just not in Europe. Adding in mountain lions would not make sense, the existence of zombies doesn't make sense either, but it makes for a fun game(and evidently movies), but putting a random mountain lion in Europe makes no sense.
