Inventory slots gone, forced to be a different character
crimsonbzd replied to AshleyTheAwesome's topic in Troubleshooting
You'd have to take the guy above me's answer, this has only happened to me once on a server where it happened to the rest of my group as well. The good news is once they fix this problem the game should (or should be close to) supporting in-game serialization. This means that when a server resets, many many things should still be there. Corpses, backpacks, notes, etc. -
#1: Oh dear, i've typed 256 instead of 250. It's 238 usable anyway. You have the same damn drive and knew exactly what I was talking about, get your panties out of a bunch. #2: If you're going to be a dick, I'll be a dick back. Never said anything about improvement of FPS, I specifically said that my frames vary like everyone else's shit-for-brains. #3: Apparently just because you either paid someone to put your computer together for you or you monkey'd the parts in there yourself clearly doesn't mean you know anything about it. The game is unoptimized and right now, your RAM speed does have an affect on your performance of the game. In case I have to spell this out for you, part of ®andom (A)ccess (M)emories job is to load up data (or information stored on your computer) from a storage drive and hold onto it for Immediate Use. Because DayZ (like most programs in this world) use a limited amount of RAM that is independent of how much your computer has, the speed of said RAM can be a factor if other factors have been eliminated. If you're sporting any sort of modern graphics card, you've got enough power there for DayZ already. Hell, you really don't even need the gfx card if your cpu is good enough (edit: only in regards to DayZ). If you have an SSD installed into a SATA III port, regardless of your sustained read you should have eliminated that as a factor as long as DayZ is installed to it. After that, RAM speed becomes a factor. Perhaps a small one, but 1600 to 2333 can then easily be the difference between a smooth DayZ experience or a choppy one when loading certain large bundles of textures (as in a large group of players carrying each somewhere up to about 100 unique models on their individual character model) or when loading unique textures, such as those found in Svetlojarsk and Novo. At this point, I'm going to ask you not to rebut anymore. I would rarely say this, but the information you hold in your brain and words vomited forth from your fingertips are worthless here and now. Physics and the functionality of computers have been explained to you regarding this matter. If you disagree, reread this message here and perhaps pick up a basic computer systems book.

SSHD... never seen the benefit. SSD is the way to go, but watch 2 things. 1) Do you have a SATA III port on your mobo? If not, your only viable option is a PCI-e SSD, which are blazing fast with a sustained read of upwards of 700 mb/s. Translation - too fast for current technology to utilize. Now that samsung 840 EVO 256gig, that is the exact drive I'm running now with a sustained read of 540 mb/s. Utilizing this drive, I play DayZ COMPLETELY SMOOTH. Granted, my frames vary greatly like everyone elses, but whether I'm at 20 frames or 120, it looks the same. That being said, EVERY SSD IS DIFFERENT and may have different sustained read/write speeds. 540mb/s is the top end of what I'd consider functionally relevant. For example, when I open Chrome with 100 tabs it appears virtually instantly. an exta 160-200 mb/s would make no difference. But after all that if your RAM isn't fast enough, at least 2333, you won't see that super smooth gameplay either.

Inventory slots gone, forced to be a different character

They appear to be in the process of putting serialization into the game, or the process of converting data to bits to store them for retrieval later. It appears the variable "whateverwhatever" stores your character design selections, and currently this data cannot be serialized (and apparently stored) correctly. -
I mean, with the changeover to the "infusion" engine, it stands to reason that any and all parts of the game could be revamped. They've already stated they intend to do away with completely the scroll wheel action system, so I would assume this means "Hide Body" Considering they want to make chopping down a tree done by simply swinging at it, I would assume hiding bodies would require you to drag them somewhere hidden.

Bayonets and weapon based melee are obvious features this game will have. Bayonets especially, considering they're in game. However we won't be able to use them until they revamp that part of the engine because there is currently no effective way to switch a gun to a melee object and start using it that way.

Ha ha I should my girlfriend's account for this, she's not interested in playing until release.

Someone should compile these messages into a place we can all read them. Seriously, I dunno what this guy has, but whatever it is, it's the good shit of it.
-
Okay, someone find this dudes supplier. He has clearly got that good shit.

Whaaa?? What kind of drugs are you taking? Are you okay?

Intrinsically it cannot happen yet. Server admins have absolutely no power and, as I understand it (not a server admin) cannot even keep kicking players for KoS'ing without risking their server and their money. Without that functionality Admins cannot properly block users who come there intending to prey upon your Roleplaying for easy kills, or lock them to keep them private for those who are going to actually RP. I would love a locked RP server, you would see some neat stuff.

Jesus Christ. The jedi felt that one.

The font selection is one my favorite parts of the UI. Please don't change it.

Just a stab at it - I think your PC issues may run deeper than DayZ. Does your mouse act normally UNLESS you're playing DayZ, with no exceptions?

Petition against globally restricted loot
crimsonbzd replied to coltonlong's topic in General Discussion
Also it's like you're the only one who thinks it's a terrible idea. Because it's not a terrible idea tbh, without this implementation you and yourself will go rent a server, lock the shit out of it, and run around building your heli and farming rares all day. Then, just to be rude about it, I'm certain you'll come back to the forum touting your superiority when really, you couldn't be more the opposite, despite the air you wish to portray. -
Petition against globally restricted loot
crimsonbzd replied to coltonlong's topic in General Discussion
Explain this because what you say in part A has an opposite correlation to part B. I'm not entirely sure you aren't talking out of your ass actually. The system itself and how much they allow you to access it are two entirely differently things. You understand this? -
Petition against globally restricted loot
crimsonbzd replied to coltonlong's topic in General Discussion
Yes. More support here for global loot economy. This game will be incomplete without it. It also opens the door for the survival factor to be adjusted on private hives, i.e. food could be made super rare or guns etc. -
Movement controls detrimental to gameplay in 0.47 patch
crimsonbzd replied to Ninja_Meh's topic in General Discussion
I find the gun raised and crouched walk movements to be far too slow. -
Now, personally, I don't see a reason you couldn't make it "headshot only" and "infected not zombies". If the person is technically still alive, yet in this state, I believe it would be safe to assume that any medical knowledge we currently hold (in r/l) would not apply to these individuals. specifically, i'm thinking about the adrenal system. Essentially, to me, infected zombies are beings of Adrenaline without any higher cognitive functionality. So, if you hit one in the liver, the lungs, even both those places, sure that would apply some serious stopping power to a normal human, but unless it's enough to prevent the person from living or moving due to like... physics itself... the mindless adrenaline monster should continue. i.e. you chop off one's head and the head still tries to bite you until the brain physically shuts down electrical activity, which could be minutes or perhaps even hours (with their unknown physiology) after the blood has left the dis-incorporated head.
-
This is the lore as I understand it as it was implemented in the Mod. Also, I understand it to be airborne, but it doesn't effect any species but humans. Thusly if you're not infected yet you simply won't be. On that note, realizing this is another game, but H1Z1 will feature traditional, undead zombies and the plan is, down the line, that players once killed will rise as zombie loot bags which then may be hunted down for said loot. They even are pondering a "play as a zombie" system using heatmap visuals.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
crimsonbzd replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Zombies are more of a threat now, yes, but not yet at their "final" numbers. Crawler/Howler/Monkey/Frog zombies from Mod are recently implemented. In fact there are a shitton of new features that, even if the current DayZ PvP world is not your style, would make it worth loading up again at least for a while. New cities, guns, hunting, most existing cities have had at least modern SA buildings implemented. -
No. Every survivor in DayZ is completely immune to the virus and could never become a zombie. And as I understand it none of the zombies are actually "dead," they're just infected and insane. Think "28 Days Later" instead of "Dawn of the Dead." This would also be why zombies can be killed with things other than a headshot. In a traditional "undead" zombie, the corpse is returned to life by additional electrical signals sent from the Reptilian brain to the brainstem and spine, with the evolved areas of the brain dying. In this case, if you shoot a zombie in the heart, whatever, it's blood is not pumping. You must interrupt the electrical signals via a headshot. In this style of zombie anything that would cause a human being do die would cause a zombie to die. So maybe they should implement "zombie starvation" if they don't get a kill in a long enough time, later down the road when things are persistent.

in before lock, you (r friend) are either a hacker or an idiot who tried to hack.
-
Okay, well, that does suck. It also seems like a personal problem that you didn't give enough information on for anyone to actually help you, and that perhaps you don't know about to entirely understand? So, with the lack of information you gave, the only thing I can say is turn UP various rendering qualities seeing what you can and cannot offload onto your GPU. However, 18 FPS is better than half my clan plays with it seems.

Well that makes a lot of sense, I would expect some choppers, coming in for a bumpy landing in the area, would aim the for the airfield itself instead of ramming trees.
