    Sudden, strange death.

Someone said on here, if you don't want to die, don't ever climb ladders or go up any stairs at all. Seems like solid advice.

    kg/m^3 inventory system

I like the idea, but I have two points of contention: 1. Current crafting and game design uses this system. A lot of the game would have to be worked over to even implement this. 2. Micromanagement. Although we're going for realism, an extended amount of micromanagement could become horrific. The current system, although at times unrealistic, allows them to balance items by causing more powerful items to take up more space, accessing and managing your inventory is currently a breeze. However, characters weight and gear SHOULD have a heavy impact on movement speed.
  3. Yes, resource gathering, including wood and rocks, are planned "Early 2014" if the post hasn't changed recently. At the same time, don't expect to swing your axe at a tree and have the whole thing fall down Minecraft style, conveniently dropping 2 sticks, 5 wooden logs, and 2 cardboard planks for some reason...

    Best/Safest Server Exit Method?

The one time I died after logging, I had no character in the main menu. I'm no expert, but I personally don't think you were killed while sitting. If you spawn on the coast and say "this isn't right." the only thing you can try is to leave the server (without moving or selecting anything on your new character) and try a different server. If your character information failed to be retrieved from the hive the first time, you can manage to not overwrite your character if you don't move. As far as logging out, there really isn't too much danger yet. Last time I played I logged out in a random bush in Elektro, normally I just pick some building. I think it will be much more dangerous when zombies respawn and their numbers are increased. Just literally make sure the area around you has no players, and there's not a zombie nearby, and log out.

    Sudden, strange death.

I don't have to watch the video, a number of things could have happened. That player could have been modding, cheating, etc. It's possible. One of you could have desynced while he was in the building, and his character "leapt" to his actual location when the problem was resolved. You could have died from just about anything. Sniper on your six, crazy ax man, random glitch death. What is to be expected in this game is random things happening that will continuously frustrate you. I was thrown out of a wall to my death while fully geared in NWAF the other day... I wasn't even near the wall. It happens.

1st kill, Did I make the right call?

Stop here. Doors closed means either un-looted or it's a trap. So... that's a huge sign of other players. If you move through the PD and find nothing and then a bunch of closed barracks, you're probably going to die entering those barracks. At all times, if you can, learn to conceal yourself and track an enemy for a moment - it's going to be required if you want to be a good guy. It will be extremely difficult if you're alone. Then again, try not to be alone. If you see a group, you're best to hide and leave the area in my opinion. Most likely they'll kill you, however there's a small chance they could be friendly. I've been a part of helping a few people at major airbases, and other locations, with Beck's Privateers. So... if you see a huge group, I guess exposing yourself to them has a chance of you hitting a jackpot. But the moral of that particular block of text is: don't ever fire on a group as a loner if you don't know what you're doing. Or at all, cause it's mean. As a final note: does anything think that if some weird circumstance everyone stopped killing each other that Rocket would focus on the PvE a little more?

    It RESET me!

    These posts though... these posts.
  8. My complaint here is about Gamma/Brightness adjustment and the ability to turn Post Process effects off. Yes, I realize most of you who do this do so to get a higher FPS. It's still cheating. If you get hit by a bullet from another player with Post Process off, almost nothing happens to your screen. It goes a little bit more greyscale. If you play the game properly, with post-process on, you get shot a couple times and you have to flee simply because you cannot see the world around you well enough to continue the engagement. But, unfortunately, ya'll wanted to play PC games until your PC couldn't handle it. Which throws me for a bit of a loop, cause all I'm running on here is a OC'd i5 and a single GTX 460, and I top out at 50 fps, which is far more than I even need. So... y'all must be trying to play on some old Dell windows 98 PC or something. And this saddens me, because the integrity of the game is out the door when players can alter their game as such. So, this goes out to everyone using free gamma night vision, and everyone with their PP turned off. Cause if you're PP's turned off, you're not too much of a man. Yes, I'm directly calling you a cheater, weak, and furthermore a cheapskate. Suck on my nuts, all of you. No need for one at a time, my PP is on all the way for yah ^_^.

It really seemed like you using the slippery slope fallacy.

If your PP's turned off you can't be much of a man

I agree that PP is a bad system to rely on, although I understand why they did it for this game in the way that they did. To clarify my concern: it is possible to turn off status effects imposed on you, the player, through the post process feature that would otherwise impair your ability to see the game clearly (as the devs intended.) My big thing is that I always like to play video games the way the developers intended, and I believe if this was the ideology of the mass of the gaming community of this world, we would see a proliferation in multiplayer gaming in terms of community, fun factor, and features. Keep in mind for every moment they're spending preventing cheating and circumvention, a minute of game's progression is spent. If they didn't have to worry about any of ya'll - from gamma/PP exploiters (I made a name for you) all the way to the full on hackers - every top-tier game would be so much fuller.

If your PP's turned off you can't be much of a man

I'm sorry, are you under the impression that a bigger TV = bigger FOV? In case you didn't know, a 22" monitor is the scientifically ideal size for gaming based on FOV of the average human being. In this space the distance you need to move your eyes across the screen is minimized while still providing a big enough screen to not decrease your view at range. The only "advantage" of a bigger screen is something farther away will be represented larger than on a smaller screen, because everything is proportionally larger. The disadvantages are increased eye fatigue and more eye movement (and even some head movement depending on where you're sitting) is required to scan your entire screen.

If your PP's turned off you can't be much of a man

"Inferior Humans" was a joke on the trolling bit. i.e. a method of baiting while talking about baiting, when you're trying to rope people of lower intelligence into an argument to get them heated as possible. I made no claim as to "skill" in this game. If you'd like to know a little bit about me, I play FPS/shooter games to compete in order to do "the best" I play survival games to experience survival elements within that game realm. I'd gather than in PvP engagements, I'm on the "un-skilled" side of things. Then again, in the game today being "unskilled" means you don't KoS most of the time. Again... "celebrity being interviewed"... do you come from a place with little sarcasm? I ask seriously because my egregious use of it would confuse someone who is not familiar with it. My actual intent, which I reveal now cause I'm going to watch Lilo and Stitch with my baby girl and have run out of time to field your questions, is to cause the thread to grow large by insulting a large number of the population of THIS community, in order to draw them in and then gauge their response (for personal desire to know how many of you do this). I find it hypocritical of many of you to flame cheaters hackers and the like with one hand while sprinting your way to NWAF on an empty night server with gamma/brightness maxed with your other hand. Thusly, with the thread garnering this much attention, it will undoubtedly garner the attention of devs at some point (at least have a better chance to above the "add teh rocket launcherz" or "we want a new island map!" posts.) Then, add in actual, intellectual points as why this system is flawed, cause a heated discussion, and you do most of my work for me.

Forum mods, if you wanna decrease my post count a bit, I don't mind. I actually started this topic to attempt to make a legitimate point while venting rage, but ya'll are showing me why this is fun :).

If your PP's turned off you can't be much of a man

Nope, 23. Some people use the word "nigga." It's true. I'm beginning to feel like a celebrity being interviewed. It's kinda fun, I should bait inferior humans more.

If your PP's turned off you can't be much of a man

Yes, I will respond to you individually post after post, until I get bored at least. OP would like this game to have a bit of integrity with multiplayer. Very Low is an acceptable place for Post Process, the effects are still on your screen. Here's the issue, and yes, I will be directly insulting many people here. I have what you don't and that's not my fault. I earned it, I built it, I found ways to get what I want and need even when I didn't have the means. My skills and my success are apparent. Broke ass bitches always blame others for their broke ass-ness. I refer specifically to the guy who's having a baby above. Baby hasn't even been born and it's being blamed for stuff. On a side note: Congratulations. Assuming you don't end up spending all your time neglecting your child, raising one is a life-altering experience you'll realize your life likely would not have been complete without. Multiplayer gaming experiences are dependent on the fact that everyone's experience up until their hands meet the controller are IDENTICAL. With this option enabled it is not. It ends up being the same thing as some guy in some mp game giving himself a bunch of health, now damage dealt by you is less effective on this individual. If you have PP disabled and you are injured, you are more easily able to recover and continue than with any sort of PP effects enabled.

Naw nigga get yo priorities straight. I got a baby, she's happy, fed, warm and dry and I still managed to get this computer. Don't get mad at me for what you don't have because of your failures - there's no reason you can't provide for your baby and get your computer.

If your PP's turned off you can't be much of a man

haha. I bought and built this PC with my own two hands. Talking down to someone taller than you little man? Anyways, ignoring the others who wanted to increase their post count by 1 while shitting generic forum replies forcefully out of their obliterated anus: I'm glad to see that Rocket recognizes the issue. Of course it doesn't need to be addressed immediately, but I find ridiculous that you can turn off all negative status effects up until full unconsciousness or death. It cheapens the game. The actual event that caused me to write this post was actually what I consider losing a decent friend in this game. We go to play together, he takes me to grab some gear first. So I spawn in on a night server on him (not knowing it was night) and this mug is shouting at me the whole time to max out my brightness/gamma (which doesn't work for me, my TV I use as a computer monitor IS TOO FUCKIN BALLIN FOR YOU BROKE BITCHES apparently so you might not know why it doesn't work, not my responsibility to explain it) so he over here has free night vision, then once we get to Belota there's another dude there, apparently running around the place with free night vision. These this mug over here screaming at me to kill this dude while all I can make out in the pitch is his tail obviously running away. So, dude was using these tactics, I had been playing with him on day servers, then suddenly he's like "lets go server hop" and I was like "yeah I have better things to do then server hop", he getting mad at me about that, then he getting mad because I don't have free night vision. At that moment I understood that him being mad isn't really his fault - the community (meaning many of you) have overly decided to engage in and accept massive circumvention of many aspects of the game. The occasional hacker, scripter, little bored child who comes in and fucks something up is rare in the scope of things, and they're never allowed to roam free all over your game. But when the air of the entire community is circumvention of the game is okay so long as you don't have to leave the game menus to do so. Yes, what I'm saying is if I was Rocket, I would make gamma/brightness a balanced slider that lets you adjust your game within a certain range without granting free night vision and locking blur effects (at least) always on. If your PC can't play the game because of it, then your PC can't play the game because of it. If you want to change it, open it up and replace the bullshit, and if you can't, go get your hands dirty until you can afford it. Furthermore, yeah we're in a global recession. Yeah people ain't doing good, but on a personal level that is NO EXCUSE for your individual failures in life. If you're sitting here playing video games thinking about how broke you are... you see the issue right? Go use a skill you posses to acquire income or goods, and when you're good and tired from a day of that - then sit down and play.

It takes more bullets to kill with the Mosin now

Yes damage is not transferring through gear properly right now. You can get shot in the chest, ruining all your gear in your vest yet not taking a lick of damage themselves. Melee damage needs to act this way, not bullet damage. Furthermore, they need add stopping power to the guns. If your'e running at me naked with an axe and I shoot you with any gun, even if you can run afterwards you'll still be taken aback for a second at least. If not dead on the ground from the fairly heavy round that just passed clear through your chest. However: All of this is a moot point until they lock Post-Process effects on, cause I'd gather around 60% of the community is not playing the game correctly under the guise of "making it work better." It's cheating people. Yes, if your computer doesn't run it as well as you'd like with the full game "on" it sucks. That's why PC gaming is exclusive, and you just fell behind. Don't cheat and then try to feel justified about it because it's what you needed to do to make your shit run right. If your PC is too weak, go pick yourself up some cheap old console and leave PC gaming to those who can handle it.
  19. I disagree, I think it should control like it does in the video, without snap. This would allow structural integrity to come into play based on well the base has been constructed. You'll see first time basebuilders putting together shoddy teepees, with groups advanced in the process working together to make strong and proper bases.
  20. I think this was kind of unnecessary, especially if it pushed back development or really caused any sort of problems at the office. My reason being that we all know that downtimes may occur, you could also have updated to the experimental branch to keep player (granted the amount of servers would make it difficult) Or you could have avoided the glitch entirely by not clicking "respawn" and instead exiting the server upon death. It was only 5 days until the original .34 was planned to go stable anyways.

Why are Australian Hardcore servers so empty :(

I would assume the answer you're looking for is the obvious one: your niche is too specific.
  22. My guess is that this system is being implemented now so it can be ready, polished and in place by the time the zombie/player/loot design makes it more difficult and players may be forced into **attempting** to eat berries to survive.

I didn't get to play it too much yet but I'm frickin' loving this patch. I'm not sure what they've done with rendering of light sources, but towns are actually navigational even in the pitch black. I kinda feel like splinter cell moving through Cherno. I'll tell you though I'm not used to seeing that much light, I probably spent 30 minutes hiding in houses thinking they were flashlights. Then I realized I'm one of the only idiots who doesn't do the gamma exploit because I have some integrity.

    "Military" weapons chambered in .22LR

See, the cool thing is, I get to do this here: A-a-A-a-l-l-l-p-h-A-A-A-AAAAAAA!!! It's an alpha alpha, it's an alpha alpha, they don't have to get anything right it's an alpha alpha, alpha alpha. No really, they can sort this stuff later. At which time I'll be replying in some sing-songy way to the whiners about "why isn't ammo more generalized!?" when you need a 7.62x54R and you only have a bunch of 7.62x31 and 8mm and 7.62x blahblah and all this other extremely similar ammo that simply won't fit into your gun.
