I guess I just haven't heard that they were - or weren't - going to separate the implementation of these parts of the loot respawn system. From what I understood, they were also going to implement a loot economy system and another wherein the quality and/or quantity of loot that spawned was dependent on the server's population. Does anyone have any information about the implementation, or lack thereof, of these systems?

Loot Respawning is in yeah? What about Economy etc?
crimsonbzd replied to crimsonbzd's topic in General Discussion
Experimental Branch: 0.45.123906 The primary purpose of this exp update is based around loot spawning - just testing out some changes to the system. The rubberbanding on 0.45 experimental is related to experiments with respawning loot. This is the first piece, issues are to be expected. They are logging a new respawning technique. The processing causes significant CPU drain, causing delayed processing of position data. Experimental is not the place for strong user experiences, it's for testing new systems. We're going to drop the player #s down on the exp branch boxes to mitigate some of the perf issues with the new loot systems. The update is purely to allow us to track data on the hive which is why there are very few server instances online. -
GTX 660 & Fx 8320, What does it take to run DayZ?
crimsonbzd replied to Plancherfoot's topic in Troubleshooting
The biggest improvement that you can make to your computer in terms of playing DayZ SA, and other unoptimized EA games, is a blazing fast SSD. My Samsung 840 EVO plays this game smoothly regardless of my FPS, with stuttering only occuring if for some god-awful reason I get less than 15 frames. The reason being, in lamens, is that when you're playing this game it's pulling the files you need raw off the hard drive and flopping them on your screen as need be. When you stack 17ms wait times some 600 times in a minute, this equals out to considerable lag on your end. A SSD takes stacking those 17ms wait times into stacking >1ms wait times, which is not perceivable my the human mind, at least in my case. -
I want to host a vanilla DayZ official hive server...what's required?
crimsonbzd replied to Chris9183's topic in New Player Discussion
Check like Gameservers. The price is around 80 USD or more as I understand it, and your privileges therein include decided when to manually reset your server and if you want to kick/ban from the server, but doing so without cause or reason can lose you the server you paid for I think. -
Everything that's wrong with DayZ servers in one picture.
crimsonbzd replied to FrostDMG's topic in General Discussion
I'm just going to go ahead and call you dumb now. Server owners literally only have the option to reset and name their server. Whether you put "Mr X's Regular Server" or "No KOS High LooT SUPER friendly Berezino PvP 1h restarts" the rules are the same. Also, after approximately 1 hour of server uptime players with weaker PC's can start losing frames, especially if the server is not running off SSD's and other high end equipment. -
How do you deal with rubberbanding? (Exp)
crimsonbzd replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I have had little to no rubberbanding comparatively, it happening to me maybe once every hour or two. 99% of this games bugs, glitched deaths, rubberbanding, and all it's general problems are solved by having a strong enough PC with a FAST SSD in it. And it's got to be a real challenge for the devs trying to figure out if every reported glitched death was actually a glitch or a result of a WIP game that's pulling raw files from storage at varying speeds, causing issues. -
Loot Respawning is in yeah? What about Economy etc?
crimsonbzd replied to crimsonbzd's topic in General Discussion
Loot respawning is in on EXP, unless I missed the original purpose of .45 and reason for all the rubberbanding. I actually ended up solving my own question partially, Loot Economy is slated for Q3 but no info on the other part. -
No. The vehicle system NEEDS to be implemented. The modding community will need this for the future, even if (for some odd reason) they weren't going to include them in Vanilla DayZ SA. But they need to put them in as well to ensure that they work.

So, I think it would be pretty easy, maybe take up like 5 whole minutes of sometimes time after the 64 bit is up and add a cool element to the game. Simply, a counter for each gun that can be added to manually by right clicking your weapon and select "notch gun." Then, the counter is displayed in the "inspect" menu.

Crafting idea... Craft your own ammunition in small quantitles.
crimsonbzd replied to codestargod's topic in Suggestions
Loot spawning and the adjustment thereof seems to be their current active project (along with map additions) in exp. I think this is would be something good for down the road if they make bullets really rare. However, bullets would have to be RARE rare rare rare for people to go through the trouble. -
Yeah IMO this is ready to hit stable tomorrow, I'm really hoping it does.

CPU makes a huge difference for gameplay
crimsonbzd replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
I somewhat recently upgraded to an i7 haswell 3.6 or 3.7 ghz (it runs at 3.9 under normal conditions on this board) and it really gave DayZ a boost. Additionally, a solid state drive makes this game pre-compile smooth under it's current, unoptimized conditions. Specifically, I can maintain smooth 40-60 (to be conservative) on a samsung 840 EVO 256gb, and my single 760 ftw edition. -
Can Someone Explain To Me What Happened?
crimsonbzd replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
One time, I thought I was looking at a Dupe of myself. The character was just kneeled in this building constantly staring at me with all of the same gear. So, thoughtlessly, I pulled out my axe and hit what I thought to be myself upside the head. Upon rummaging through "my gear" I found that this player was only wearing the exact same gear as me... his pack was totally different >.<. -
Normal crossbows get the job done This crossbow gets the job done at 10x the range.

Just wondering what everyone thinks. Everything should be pretty self explanatory.

Another one of my suggestion polls. Go ahead ya'll.
-
Yet. This will be the case in the future so I hear. Looks like they're going to force us all to play together and then put us up against impossible odds and force us to work together. Yay.

I've been struck on the head while wearing a very hard helmet, and was knocked unconscious for a few minutes. Granted, I wasn't a full grown adult at the time, but still I could definitely say that the hardness of the helmet, while protecting my head from direct damage, dealt a whole knew kind of damage to my brain. My frickin' consciousness hurt for a while afterward. That being said, we don't know the immidiate backstory, and thusly any training, of the individuals we play as. As per the game mechanics, in my own, untested experience, your energy capacity seems to raise as your character "ages." It would make sense to me that a more battle hardened individual could withstand multiple strikes to the head wearing protecive headgear, while a less hardy individual could not. That's why I'm thinking direct energy damage if wearing a helmet, alongside increased energy capacity along with character "age."

Would you like DayZ on Console?
crimsonbzd replied to GhostSlayer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I just don't think the console community would accept a game like this. People on consoles would be bitching and bitching about perma-death, no lifetime progress, et cetera. -
New Player Feedback: A terrible mechanic.
crimsonbzd replied to shaeg's topic in New Player Discussion
edit: I saw this from the recent board. You're playing the mod apparently, so find a different Hive to play on. Or click "respawn" it's always worked for me in the Mod. -
that was in reference to OP's comment that a blunt weapon strike would deal damage like a fist. Oh, furthermore, a blunt weapon strike to a hard-hatted individual, whether that be a "hard hat" or a "ballistic helmet" is similar to a hefty case of shell shock in a lot of cases. edit: ^^ that's going to be taken overly literally. per actual implementation in a game, I believe that wearing a ballistic helmet/hard helmet and being struck with a blunt weapon should still cause shock damage, but not health damage, but still cause an increased blurred effect.
-
I mostly agree, I just think that a blunt weapon strike should knock a player unconscious if it strikes them in the head, and likewise kill to the head with a bayonet.
