Admin Abuse - Warning charckter reset!!!!!
crimsonbzd replied to sanzzes's topic in Server Advertisement
Look, I'll just throw this out here. Every server gives you their IP and port to connect. If you don't like the server admin, disable their access to it from your end. -
Link me or it's bullshit. I would expect a new build to be running experimental soon, not stable.

Combat Log Protection inverted - from Ultima Online
crimsonbzd replied to crimsonbzd's topic in Suggestions
Yes you'd still be part of the server for the next five minutes. In UO, those holes didn't really end up being a problem. If you needed to log while in like Fellucia or something (PVP zone basically) you'd clear all monsters that might be in the area and log in a secluded place. I could see perhaps protecting logged players from zombies, as that could be a little intrusive, but I believe this would be a much better system than preventing the "exit" button from working for a certain amount of time. It's like a weak lock on your doorknob - it only stops the honest people - which is not who we're concerned about anyways. -
The most gamebreaking thing right now, imo, is how players choose to see this alpha. Spawn, run south-west or north-north-easterly until you find preferred loot location A. Loot location A. Continue running until you see an airfield. Loot. Run to favored location B, loot location B. Fully geared - now it's time to play CoD. I wait for the DayZ when a pistol is not a guarantee, and bullets even less so.

If you read all of rocket's posts, you'll find that at time of release they'll be doing a balanced in game economy for items and such. Guessing that this would HAVE to be across all connected servers, otherwise it would just make this DayZ: Server Hopping Once they implement that, server hoppers will be doing nothing but wasting their time. Also, banditry and theft will become a necessity of the game in order to move these high-profile items from player to player. Say, for example, there are 100 M4's in the world across that particular shard. No matter how good you are, 1 M4 will not protect you from 5 players with pistols, not even from five players with axes. They take the guy's M4 and that's like the only way to get one at that time unless someone dies with one and no one picks it up in time.

I WANT DAYZ RELEASED THIS MOMENT WITH NO BUGS AND I SPAWN IN WITH A NUCLEAR MISSILE!!!!!! ... It's not happening yet is it? YOU LIED TO ME!

Considering ambient light, I'm not sure there would be too many places in the game that would actually be truly dark during daylight. Now, perhaps having the amount of lumens in a particular area have a particular effect on focus, likely through post processing effects, would be very nice. example: you log out in a building on a night server, with almost no light in the area. log back in the next day, walk out the door and all you see is whitewash for the next few seconds until your eyes adjust. another example: dark industrial building, interior. one guy is already inside the building, his eyes adjusted to the room, and another guy runs in from the bright outdoors. He can hardly see anything since the room is so dark compared to the bright sun outside, but our bandit camping the building can see him fine, his eyes already being adjusted.

It's been about 2 weeks, and I have no server's popping up.

well, if you haven't just disabled your firewall, tried resetting your router, those are places to start. is NAT a factor for pc gaming? i can't remember. if it is, you might have a strict NAT. also, maybe port forwarding. -

I contend, for you, that the idea in it's form is great. I wonder however about the limitations of the game in a number of respects. First of all would be if the engine would allow such a thing in the first place. Secondly, should horses be added, will they add shooting from horses? I had damn well better be able to tout my magnum off a horse. On that note, they really need to make drivebys happen.
-
I notice that the magnum and shotgun speedloaders act like clips... not speedloaders. I don't think I need to explain why this isn't so. But I dunno if this is just a temporary functionality of them. If it's not, speedloaders and the shotgun version need to load the gun by standard reload and then appear again, empty, in your inventory. edit: was the functionality to load a single bullet into the chamber removed from the fnx45 or all clip weapons? if so, and it's permanent, that functionality really needs to be back in the game. You might think that guy has no bullets in that gun, but he could have one chambered.

I figure it depends if they implement an progression to endgame - bases raiding/defending and massive in-game groups come to mind - but right now I wouldn't even call KOS a "problem." What else are you supposed to do once you've got gear and a bunch of food and waterbottles but engage other players?
-
I've not personally heard of leaderboards, but even so I'm sure there will be multiple factors. K/D, survival time, total survivors player, accuracty, murders, bandits killed etc

I'm just wondering why time is being left uncompressed, is it a public interest thing? Seems like all the servers currently in daylight are full up so I would think not. Furthermore, food and drink and all that is heavily compressed. If you stayed logged into your character for 24 hours, how much food would you need to eat to not drop dead in that 24 hour period? So, unless anyone really wants a 24 hour day/night cycle, I suggest it be compressed to have 4 or so day/night cycles in a rolling 24 hour period. I, at least, would personally enjoy being able to play both in day and night without having to find a specific server to do so, as well as in a time frame that is both reasonable for the median gamer to play and experience AND fits better with the compression of hunger, thirst etc.

Get rid of the m4...and replace with period and place apropriate weapons.
crimsonbzd replied to Armadyl's topic in Suggestions
Many variants of any of the worlds guns can be found in any country, becoming more common the longer that particular design of gun has existed. No game developer is going to go around naming the same gun 16 different times to match all these variants. Next time you pick up an m4, think to yourself "generic ar15" -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
crimsonbzd replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
I think the prevailing issue with the hero/bandit system is that, say, I walk up to you and point a pistol in your face. Just... stand there clearly aiming at you. I'm probably going to kill you right? But I haven't pulled the trigger or actually engaged with you in any way. Without a system built into the game's core to identify when players are doing things that aren't friendly, such as aiming at another individual, either you're going to get killed or going to lose humanity in self defense. I haven't been with this game too long, but it seems to me in the mod anyone with a hero skin was either lucky enough to meet friendly people most of the time, or they farmed it through various means. Likely the latter. I fear that, due to the system in place, you'll have to use your imagination to help identify to other players you're a good guy (dress in all white somehow?) Identifying bandits is a terrible idea, because people then just lie to get around it. Not one day went by in the mod where someone asked "do you have a bandit skin" and the reply went "yeah but a hacker gave it to me." First guy's dead 10 minutes later. I understand that guy got baited, and fell for it like a sucker as well, but with that becoming a common practice it might as well not even be a factor. -

Unless you put it in blood traveling to the lungs, it doesn't matter. You can, literally and for sure, inject yourself with 3cc of open air in your arm and be just fine. Furthermore, the only thing that isn't an intramuscular injection in the game is saline/bloodbags, and if any person is too dumb to not put it in the big throbbing fucker on the other side of your elbow, you shouldn't have handed it to them. -
Servers with connection issues to central hive
crimsonbzd replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
So, as a resolution to the issue, it seems like the server maintenance at... 11 am GMT?... will correct the issue (i hope). I get that some are bugged, but I've been trying server after server, adding my battery to my flashlight moving a little bit, exiting, and rejoining just to fresh spawn on even the same server. The only alteration to this is that upon joining one server, my original DayZ character (he had the two cans of beans i was coveting) was revived... which is strange cause I got killed on that character for those two cans of beans... I'm just hoping my issue here is related to the server problems lol. -
Kinda not possible when the only fix in the air is: "if you spawn on the coast, don't move. exit and find new server." Even if you simply log out and attempt to log into the server. You sir are wasted space. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Anyways, the "my character absolutely won't save problem." What's going on?
-
I may need some advanced medical attention...
-
that's just what i do to try to ensure it doesn't save my position
-
from what i understand, if you spawn on the coast - don't move, alt+f4 or kill task and try again with a different server. From what i read from rocket, the issue is not with the game but with servers not having the right configuration but i don't know the status of fixing it.
