  1. If you came at me with a gun raised, I would assume immediate hostility and fire unless we made contact first and established guns are equipped. I mean, if you tell a guy with a gun not to equip his gun and you have your gun equipped, I understand you're taking control of the situation to protect your skin first before a newspawn gets food and drink, but if you're taking control of the situation from a guy who could kill you... and did... maybe you should have let the control be equal or just not to have engaged with an armed player.
  2. thank you both for the clear answers. if it keeps happening i might add it to bug reports

    Upcoming Combat Log Fix!

    I feel the only thing this doesn't obliterate, in my opinion, is ghosting. The time is not long enough to successfully prevent it in all situations. For example, I was being chased for my guns by two newspawns, I chose to run rather than fire, being very low on ammo (granted i don't know what else i'm saving my ammo for.) So, one of them disappeared for about 2 minutes, only to come sprinting down the other side of the road at me. So, with the new system, it may have taken him 4 minutes to do that, which I don't find particularly game changing. I guess though with the new system, those extra two minutes would give you time to just dip away in some wayward direction. I would think though 1 minute would be a better timer, once zombies don't target you from random locations later on down the road.

    Dean ‘Rocket’ Hall On What’S Next For Dayz

    the part I really feel unsure about with this game is how different it's going to end up from the mod. I realize the "half-a-game" style play from the mod became intensely popular, and no i'm not asking for anything like a single player, I just hope this doesn't become a literal standalone recreation of the mod. My point being I feel that to justify making a standalone version, it has to include concepts and elements larger than anything in the mod or even the sub-mods that followed.

    Today's Pending Update.

    Well, I wouldn't get too used to justifying your use of a game breaking exploit. When they add the balanced in game loot economy, you can server hop to your heart's content you won't find anything extra. Shit, if it were up to me entirely I'd ban server-hoppers permanently no refund. Anyone who would manipulate the game for their enjoyment - at the expense of everyone else's - should be given a swift kick in the nuts and a job at a coal mine. Yes, coal, a fuel-source as old and redundant as the assholes I mention above.

    The Ultimate Solution For Kos

    I'm sorry, I believe you forgot your suggestion... This is how the game works.

    Mosin is single load now

    Imma make my opinion simple: Can ya'll stop bitching about guns be unbalanced in an unfinished game? The Mosin's current state, whether to test or remain that way, is right now to test guns that will work in that particular fashion. Yeah, so maybe the mosin' works now like a heavy sniper will in the future. I note that it probably should, pretty big round, accurate gun. You guys are only upset because you view the M4 as the superior weapon. But they're both umbrella weapons for their entire class of weaponry. Also they still shoot bullets. Wouldn't it be a pain if you had to hit someone 3 times with the mosin to kill them? How about we make it take an entire M4 clip to kill? Bullets hurt yo, doesn't matter the gun.

    Not For Now But Mb In The Future

    don't apologize for your english, you speak more languages than i do. in the vanilla DayZ experience, you will see this all the time - in the form of another player. as far as NPC's go, I don't think you'll ever see this in the Standalone version unless/until they open it up to community modification. Which they better. I didn't play it for more than a few lives, but it seems you're thinking along the lines of the DayZ Epoch mod. This mod features a currency system and NPC traders. As far as a train goes, I personally love the idea of being able to build/operate/maintain a train, granted it's not my idea originally (nor yours lol) I think it would make a good End Game concept. I made a whole post about that, but I think as a community we need to talk about what we want to see included in this game at time of release.
  9. Good info. I just wonder, from your perspective, having apparently played a good deal of the mod, where do you see this game going or where would you like it to go?

    Allow Iv Bag Use On Yourself

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nooooo! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, it really is impossible. You could not possibly hold any sort of IV drip bag high enough above yourself, because you can't reach further than you can reach. And if you could, you'd just be reaching further anyways, so it still wouldn't work. You could, however, tie the bag up to a doorknob, lay down and it should work. However, again clearly, since you cannot hold the bag higher than the highest point in your body, the laws of physics will not allow this to happen. Edit: You also could not squeeze the bag to simulate the pressure. You would not be able to do it gently enough. Also, nursing does not require a lot of schooling, it's more of a functional certification.
    A Little Problem...
    In every post I've seen about poor performance so far, the individual has mixed AMD and Intel components. smh
    Clothes That Say: I'm The Good Guy.
    I like your idea from your sig post, I really do, but I think the final problem with the humanity system at all is that bandits, due to the general player mentality, will simply say something to the effect of "a hacker gave it to me." And unless the game is SO secure that nothing could ever, ever have done this, it could really happen to someone. I think the only thing that would work is a humanity system like the mod, but sort of hidden, the only thing it did was determine if you were allowed to use the friendly marker. but that would be overly elaborate i think.
    Clothes That Say: I'm The Good Guy.
    I KOS mask wearers, simply because except the one guy wearing a mask, who was ONLY trying to rob me blind, everyone wearing a mask has combat logged/attempted to ghost kill me. I know wearing a mask doesn't mean you're going to do that, but I now see it as an immediate sign of hostility.
    Moisin Ammo Wont Load?
    OMG I'm imagining your character standing there frantically trying to stuff an entire box of 7.62 rounds into a mosin screaming WHY WON'T THIS FIT!?!? I'm laughin so hard I can barely type. Edit: If your scope is ruined, I don't know what'll happen, but I'm guessing it won't work exactly. Right click to remove from gun and check it's status. Also try cleaning the gun with the scope on there, I don't know what that'll do exactly but it might repair the scope. It also might not. You use the scope by clicking RMB same as you aim any other weapon. The mysterious 100 in the top right of your screen is your distance correction... they call it something else officially. Use Page Up/Page Down to adjust it. The mosin loads 5 rounds internally and there is no way to check your clip or reload without emptying the rounds from the mosin (right click options in inventory) and then reloading in 5 rounds. this is also your tactical reload of sorts.
  15. Yeah, I'm guessing perhaps they already implemented real world percentages, making it not strange at all for 5 people to have the same blood type. What if, in some crazy bizzaro world, to play DayZ you had to submit medical records so your character had all your stats... That would be ridiculous.
  16. Yeah. I wouldn't put too much stock in it yet, be glad your character doesn't explode when you use the blood typing kit. or that item damage doesn't really have any effect yet. anything that has a needle and says "badly damaged" in this game makes me cringe... not only will you likely get a nasty blood infection, but that twisted needle is funna rip your vein out something nasty...
    Killed By Hacker - Stuff Away! Can I Have It Back?
    No. No one cares about your gear, and you shouldn't either. Players lose their characters every day to less. I, in fact, had a couple day old character who was fully geared. Turns out there's a couple walls in apartment buildings it's pretty easy to walk through. But ha ha! No one could defeat him but gravity. Secondly, your friend got shit on by the system, and hearing about it was great. But the first guy may not have hacked anything, he may have: Just logged in (least likely) Was server hopping (moderate likeliness) Ghost Killed you (very likely) But here's the problem, even with the so called "reduced loot," it shouldn't take you any more than 1 good play session to get at least some sort of gun and all the main loot you need to play. And if you think this level of loot is "reduced" just you wait for the balanced in game loot economy and.... useless loot! But yeah, especially as this is an Alpha and has no higher purpose to the game yet, if you get attatched to your gear I don't know what you're doing, because the only thing to do in this game game is gear up, meander around til you die, and then gear up again.
    Game Crashes Everytime
    THE CRUSADE WAGES ON! No, really though, I'm intel and all my local friends are AMD for some reason... every time they talk to me about computers, and theirs not working right... well you know what I say. (complete) AMD systems are superior for one thing however I assure you: cryptocoin mining. My gaming PC is also my workstation and I do a lot of video rendering, so I stay with intel systems and specifically nVidia cards to get the best of that. Work over play.
    Suggestion - disable VOIP during gameplay
    If no one has just mentioned adding a battleeye restriction for known 3rd party voip programs... i am now. Anyone who wants to resort to skype on mobile devices or other extreme means of using a 3rd party to chat for their banditry will be the extreme minority.
    Game Crashes Everytime
    I have two pieces of information for you, their value to be determined by you. 1. I experience a long, long black screen most the time I start the game up that oftentimes threatens to put my monitor to sleep. I usually alt+tab away, listen to a track on pandora, and come back and it loads up fine. 2. You have committed the computing blasphemy of mixing AMD and Intel. The gods of the computers may not be happy, thusly not allowing to you play. But this is your fault. Blasphemer. I have no pity for you.
    Dead people
    yeah, but... this would happen anyways when two armed survivors head to an open air field, get overrun, and then you kill the zombies they somehow failed to. However, I know you saw my bigass post in suggestions. This would likely happen with people who fell to the zombies in these high-profile areas. You'd get to scoop up their gear to help you get through to the loot they failed to get... assuming someone else didn't get it and make it out first anyways.
    Can we talk about Endgame?
    First of all, I would really hope this thread doesn't descend into a bunch of crap so there's a chance it can actually get read. I notice that as people play, of course they come to the suggestion thread to let us in on everything they'd like to see in the game in it's Current State. I wanna talk about the end of the game. What we're going to be doing on retail release when we've gotten as far as we can go. I think this is important to address how we, as a community, want this thing to end up. I personally heard of DayZ many years before I had a computer to play it, and I fell in love with the idea. As soon as I heard about it again, I went and bought the $80 edition no problem. We're gunna buy another when my girlfriend has her computer. So, I'm going to address here some specific points, along with what I, personally, would like to see in that respect. Please feel free to add more points, or argue my proposed idea or system on any points, but above all else: Please don't post off-topic, rudely, or destructively. Please don't say "Make the Suppressors work now! or fix Ladders immediately!" That's not what this thread is about. I'd like this to be a community collaboration of ideas dealing with the End game scenarios we as a community would like to see at release. Remember, we originally bought this game in it's current state not to go around hunting bandits, or noobs, but because (hopefully) we wanted to be a part of shaping the game in it's finality. Please let us do so. //Begin Ideas Zombie behavior and Presence: By this I mean how much we can expect zombies to be a part of the game. I notice, in the mod, that zombies were basically there to call it a zombie game, and was one of my biggest disappointments in that respect. Their best use was seeing what player they were aggro-ing, so you could engage the player. I would personally like to see, in the standalone, higher zombie presence in once populated areas. I notice svetglorack... whatever... is mostly apartment buildings. I would expect this place to be crawling. At the same time, I would also expect large supplies of loot, especially residential style food and drink, to spawn here, along with the odds and ends that could be useful in the zombie apocalypse that the old man on the 5th floor was hoarding. The idea here is that this would extend across military bases, main cities, smaller cities, all being balanced out. Keep in mind, while you evaluate this idea, the concept that Rocket already introduced with the balanced in-game economy of loot. (semi) Permanent Storage, Groups, and Bases In the mod, we saw basebuilding that was, I don't know how to put it... on a server-by-server basis. I like this idea, granted it is expanded in the way DayZ expanded everything. I didn't play the mod long enough to become familiar with bases in it though. Assuming there are bases, and I believe tent field bases were already on the list based on info I've seen around, I would expect there to be fortifications, locks, large amounts of storage, and (perhaps) farming and livestock. Then of course the destruction or ability to bypass these factors. Lockpicks, breaking down the door, maybe even burning the fucker down? We've already got fire extinguishers... Next, groups. We've seen radios, and I'd love an in game group system. Think "Factions." This would of course lead to clan wars across certain servers in Chernarus. This would, of course, lead to a Home Server mentality, since if you're logging in to further the campaign against your people. It would be silly, in my opinion, to think that we could keep the group thing anonymous, if someone dies, yes they will run back to their base and be re-kitted, but once your group is at that point survival is not the major enemy. Now, I'd like to comment on the lone survivor in all of this. What I mean is the individual, or small group, who has decided to not partake in the larger war on the server, or perhaps it's not their Home Server. In that case, they would be able to, should they so choose, to try and raid these bases for easy gear. This would of course be an overtly difficult PvP experience, however rewarding if successful. Now, onto server size and reserved slots. If any system that would lead to an overall mentality of a Home Server were to be implemented, we'd have to talk about reserved slots. I heard an idea of 100+ servers down the road, which I would desperately like to see implemented for the rest of this to be really feasible. But, reserved slots could go either way. If there ARE reserved slots, we'll see the groups be clans, and the amount of reserved slots could really get out of hand, but that would just mean they'd have a free roving ground and no one gets to see their base. If there ARE NOT reserved slots, I believe we'd see these groups form loosely around clans, but with new spawns having to TRULY start over if they can't reliably get back to their group every time, perhaps gliding from group to group, mercenary style. Server Rigidity and Time Cycle Ratio Although I initially intended to make these two separate points, I grew to feel they were too intertwined to do so. Right now the time ratio is 1:1 with the real world. I believe that this can be called a faulty system, because players and servers simply circumvent it, and with good reason. The sheer darkness of night in this game provides a great mechanic, one shared with the upcoming Next Gen game Dying Light. However, it does not provide a fun experience when it's reasonably never ending. I personally recommend 4 day and night cycles per rolling 24 hour period. I know I've suggested this before, but this allow the mechanics of day and night to take shape over a single play period for a larger majority of players. Anyways, if this one isn't addressed by the whole community, we'll continue to see Full Day Only PvP-esque servers and regular and night only servers grouped in as Night Only PvE NO KILL LOOT server. Yes, those are exaggerations. Onto server rigidity, this deals with if there is to be a change in the day night cycle, will server admins be forced to stick this cycle and NOT be allowed to reset their servers. Server owners, don't get up in arms about the idea, with the balanced in-game economy for loot already to be implemented, there's a good likelihood in my mind that you won't be able to reset your server to adjust loot anyways when it happens, the same loot is going to spawn. So it will only deal with time. Occupation and Fortification of existing buildings - minibases. This concept has two facets to me. The first being that I notice now, the best way to handle a town you want loot from is to breeze through stealthily hitting key points. With the upcoming in game economy, camping in a large city to quickly collect loot may be a necessity. In that case, I'd like to see the ability to board up the windows and lock the doors of an existing establishment. In this case, you would lock all loot from spawning in there while you occupy the building, and can operate it the same as a full Base mentioned above. Here you can safely store items, unless someone breaks in. These mini bases would not necessarily be the safest of places, needed to be locked to a certain server and likely remain intact (and vulnerable to other players) while you're logged out. The second facet of this is occupation for militia operations. Let me explain this in anecdote: Say your group is smaller, looking for loot, yet large enough to believe (correctly or not) that you can successfully overpower a full base. This base in just North East of Cherno, so you occupy and fortify some buildings nearby to create a Field Base to quickly restock and offer aid to soldiers in the field. This could of course be used by the full Base to move the fight closer to the attacking force. Finally, this occupation could be used to move these base attacks and captures, which would otherwise be locked to specific servers, happen across multiple servers. The attacking force wold have to stock up in their home server, move to the enemies' server, then occupy buildings or create a field base and attack and attempt to capture the enemies base on the other server. Imagine, this system, limited to particular servers but able to cross over. Major conflicts between large groups would inevitably occur, raging across chernarus. The Train This is certainly not my idea, but I fully support it and see it having a big role with my ideas listed above. Supposed a VERY large group on a server is successful in clearing two large cities. They could have assembled their Base near a train station as well. After building, securing, whatever-ing the train, this group could keep it maintained and guarded to move supplies quickly across the map... Again, if you can keep it defended. //End Ideas _______________________________________________________________________________ Please, again, do not post anything on this thread that is not CONSTRUCTIVE. I don't care if you disagree with me, please feel free to do so. I desire this to be an informative thread where we, the people who paid not to play DayZ standalone right away, but paid to part of the process, from the ground up, shaping the game alongside Rocket himself. If we can maintain this level of maturity in this thread, and perhaps I could have some help from the Forum Team in this respect, I think this a place where we can do some good for the future of the game and GET ROCKET TO SEE IT AND TAKE FROM IT. Anyways, this has been a very long post, and it took me a few hours to write and proofread it, along with organizing my ideas. I appreciate you all who will have helped to keep this thread mature... and here's hoping it doesn't just die out right away. Thank you
    Can we talk about Endgame?
    Of course there's an endgame. The question is it getting fully geared and circle-jerking it in Elektro until you die, or is it going to be something fun that adds a new layer to the game itself? Cause that last one is part of what has made every TRULY great game I've ever played since I was four years old great.
