Regardless of the validity of this idea, if I see you or anyone else roll up in cheesy cowboy boots and a bigass hat I will KoS simply to get you off my screen quicker.

I read that post, most of it at least, and I gotta say it seems like the factors they added to simulate gun weight etc would be one of the things that separate this game from a flat arcade game like CoD

Off line mode for viewing of character and inventory
crimsonbzd replied to blueleader's topic in General Discussion
I'll throw in my two cents. Offline item manipulation at all is just a no. Like millions have said before me, it's just a way for people to cheat with no real in game functionality. HOWEVER I would love to see a stats page available online/mobile on release, including current character stats, perhaps inventory (no manipulation, even moving stuff around,) and global user stats. I like lots of numbers. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I wanna make a point here though that I think a lot of the community is overlooking If the "balanced in game loot economy" means a balanced in game loot economy, m4's and all manner of sniper rifles are going to be COVETED. Like... don't fire it if you have it, cause if anyone's nearby you're target #1. This means trading will be a necessity and seeing your inventory offline to arrange trades will greatly appreciated by many. And abused by many into robbing people, but yeah. -
Double post to bump and remind the community: this is what you spent your money for - so vote!

From a standpoint of how the zombies work, I would expect a combination of raw increased numbers, special zombies/zombie moves, and increased zombie respawn in these areas. I don't know about you guys, but that zombie leap move is frightening is hell if they do it from the right angle. In addition to what I said above, I would like to see zombies be able to climb/jump in through windows and other places characters cannot traverse. I say this because I noticed CoD Zombies originally only allowed zombies to path in the same places as players once they were in the play-area, and they could be avoided way too easily.

What is the most important skill to learn to succeed in DayZ?
crimsonbzd replied to autoloon's topic in General Discussion
Has saved me when going solo more times than I can count. -
Honestly, I'm going to guess programming in the speadloaders separate from clips was not something they cared to do at this point in development because the only difference is an empty "clip" gets returned to your inventory if it's a speedloader, shell snapper, stripper clip, whatever, immediately after reload. So, I'm guessing they're going to wait to separate them out once they've added in all "speedloader" type "clips."

How to open bulletproof cases/medical kits without putting them on the ground
crimsonbzd replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Thank you for posting this. You sir are a saint and I need to think more when playing this game. -
I second that. Besides, Berezino is half barren of loot, granted not too many people seem to go to the main gun spot, or any of the other ones for some reason. Solni's only purpose in this game thus far is to spawn some melee weapons basically... However, if you do run into someone in Elektro or Cherno at this point, expect them to be well armed and ready to rob you. If you're alone, just sort of hover over 'F2' if you're in a well populated server.

the first thing i learned about DayZ - when you spawn, run with the coast on your left shoulder >> elektro >> cherno >> balota airfield run with the coast on your right shoulder >> solni >> berezino >> eventually NEAF But look, I spent a good deal of time today with my fresh spawn, and I found a completely unlooted new military base with only one pistol in it. The airbases aren't what everyone seems to make them out to be, especially since they're a great target for server hoppers.

Reduce The Common Lag In Dayz [Tutorial]

pin this NAOAAAOAOA!!!! -
I mean, as far as actual realism goes, if I've just eaten a good meal I won't fall over dead until 30 days have passed without food if I can find water. As far as providing a realistic gaming experience dealing with food and water, yeah, it's way too easy. I spawned on the coast earlier today, half an hour later I had a pack, axe, (empty) gun, and enough food and drink in my tummy to forget that I had to eat for like the next 8 hours. I had to log out in some bum-fuk of a little town and I'm hoping food has spawned there when I return... I actually forgot I had to eat in this game.

I will give you this - the video in the quote above was brief enough to hold my interest.

I liked that, after reading this, I noticed your picture there with "The Doctor is In." That was altogether great. I mean, I haven't done a lot of holding people up myself, but not fucking around in your inventory seems like a pretty basic thing to do when holding someone up. Hopefully they didn't learn their lesson - I wouldn't mind getting held up by them myself.
-
I believe that this is a moot point, because the zombie AI is just a placeholder right now. I feel it the devs time would be better spent continuing on reworking the zombies entirely from the mod, instead of implementing a system to make them a little more difficult for the time being.

Zombie attack=everything ruined in backpack?
crimsonbzd replied to firstrock1503's topic in General Discussion
I believe this is a result of the damage system being slowly implemented. It also seems that if you get shot, you'll take less damage personally if they shoot you in the TTkSO (or whatever) vest, instead damaging what you're wearing and the items held within. But yeah, your gear took damage, but you didn't bleed did you? I notice also that ruined gear doesn't protect you from any zombie hits at all, in terms of chance to bleed. Finally, I notice a lot of people bitching about losing their gear... What will you do when your gear correctly degrades from use, degradation effects items usefulness, ruined backpacks/clothes won't hold items, and damage from zombies/players destroys much of the gear you do have? You'll have to keep looting to keep up. -
Hell yeah. End of post.

Coming after this post after a good medicinal break, I realize that this is just as bad as KoS. Let me explain myself briefly. Most KoS mentality ultimately occurs when players are bored of the initial DayZ mod experience (whether in mod or SA), can easily regear and the only thing they have left to do is play CoD in DayZ Running down the road playing music is yet another example of a player being bored with the experience thus far.

Zombies Spotting You From A Distance.
crimsonbzd replied to uk aidan uk's topic in New Player Discussion
I play on a 42" TV. I was once very high up on a hill round the Elektro area, and I looked and zoomed in at a figure that was literally standing on the waterline of the coast. It was maybe made of 10 pixels on my screen at the max level of zoom I could obtain, and I thought it was a player. It was a zombie, which then turned at me, and interestingly enough ran all the way from the coast, across the little town, and all the way up the hill to me. That was at least 1km away lol. My advice to you: punch zombies in the head if you have no weapon. -
Great Game, So Far Encountered In-Game Players Not So Great...
crimsonbzd replied to Macovzki's topic in New Player Discussion
Non-KoS servers are great! No matter what gets said, people always fall for the ruse. -
What? They don't want your pictures here. Go to bug reporting. Just please SEARCH FIRST.

LORD YES! This is great. Take all my beans, sir. All of them. No beans for anyone else.

I walked up on a pristine one checking the military base south of NWAF. First piece of loot I found. I don't have a mosin, but that's how the world works huh?
-
While the details need to be tweaked, I am in full support of this. I would personally like to see it as a system were newspawns start out being forced to play like the mod. A weak, fumbly melee, along with poor gun skills and poor rudementary hunting skills (when that's implemented of course) But then you must find books around the game to collect these "upgrades". Speaking of it in a game sense, it sounds very out of place for DayZ, however the type of survivor that washes up on the coast every spawn is not really identified. How much training do you have, etc? Collect the books, learn to cook better, shoot better, melee better, block, etc.

Logging Out - Expermimental Branch 114782
crimsonbzd replied to apollovulcan's topic in General Discussion
I would think not. As much as they need people to play this game properly, they need players to try to exploit the system. Do your best to break it, manipulate it, hell even find a way to nuke a server while you're testing it. Anything you find now they can fix before final release.
