What do we really want as far as Character Progression?
crimsonbzd replied to crimsonbzd's topic in Suggestions
This isn't the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney lol -
Alpha. Like that guy said, use the search bar. I'm sorry you spent all that time writing it, it looked great, but I fear few will actually read it. However, I am going to make a new poll thread based off this idea to get a good community idea on the matter.

I feel our intent in this game is similar. That being said, what you don't want the game to be is exactly what the game is because all the going around and exploring becomes absolutely pointless with the games current implementation of loot/zombies. I know it's going to improve along the developmental schedule, I just really posting this short block of text as a functional bump of my post, but (somewhat) subtly.

I don't have an exact answer for you, but I notice this oftentimes happens to me (or something similar) if I log out while under any sort of desync or heavy lag. It seems that if it can't pull up your character, or if your character didn't save on the shard properly, it will pull the most recent autosave, which I think happens around every five minutes.

I will post this on every single page of this thread: You simply could not, in the real world, give yourself any sort of IV fluids. You would need to be able to hold the bag higher than the highest point of your body, which is impossible. Otherwise, you would need to squeeze the bag, and IV bags are not designed to work like this. If the tubing could hold the pressure, it would only force the liquid into your bloodstream at too high of a rate, and this isn't just a syringe full of liquid, it's a whole damn IV bag. You'd kill yourself pushing that much fluid. The only way this would work is if you tied the IV bag to an object an laid below it which the game engine will not let you do currently.

I disagree, I feel it was a great success in smart-assery. Also, when the entire suggestion bar when watching a video on "how to run faster" is full of every single "how to run faster" video that came before it, it's old news. So, Lloyd, if I may complete my rebuttal: "Smell my ass!" <^><^> Addendum: If you're going to remake a video on youtube, you're going to have to expect to catch flack for remaking an old video on youtube, and then doing it worse than nearly everyone who did it before you.

This is why I make suggestion polls based on major in-game factors at release.

So if the M4 spawns are to be decreased dramatically as civilian weapons are added then...
crimsonbzd replied to Jezza93's topic in General Discussion
These posts are kind of pointless... Does anyone actually think yelling "Change the M4 now" or "stop adding boot variants in game and fix ladders" is going to make the devs change their development schedule? No, it's not. Stop asking for stuff now - be constructive about the future. -
Is there a benefit to surrendering gear?
crimsonbzd replied to Pr0jectseph's topic in New Player Discussion
Be careful: Many Good and Neutral players, I find, will fire on any player who they run across and who does not comply. I'm not saying let yourself get robbed, I'm saying make sure you're getting robbed before you lose a character you could have walked away with, potentially with additionally gear. Especially if you're a newspawn... you can knock a player out so easy game. -
Explanation Of How Characters Work Across The Shards
crimsonbzd posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I'm seeking an explanation of how characters work across shards. I was under the impression were you able to have two distinct characters, one on the regular hive and one on hardcore. For a while after the .32 patch, my character carried over between the two seamlessly for some reason, now if I log into a hardcore server it will delete my character on the regular hive and vise versa. This has all become very confusing as to how this is supposed to work, and if I'm experiencing alpha-umbrella issue or if I'm just not understanding the system. Thanks. -
Gear Levels/Rarity, Scarcity, Item Management, Children and More
crimsonbzd replied to wonderflex's topic in Suggestions
Honestly, the only idea there has any merit is the collective inventory slots. A lot of what you said will already be addressed by beta, especially the loot. Children are a huge no no. First of all, it's a pointless mechanic. Secondly, you're going to have a hard time selling a game where you can shoot a baby to death, or kill a parent with a bulletproof baby who will inevitably starve. -
This sawed off has a pistol grip. The sawed off in the game retains it's rifle grip does it not?

there's a weapon switch key?

Man, as far as I'm concerned you should just hook up the second monitor for playing DayZ. I doubt they can/will focus on this now. However, if you do what I said, you can press windows key + P to switch easily between all possible multi-monitor configurations, easily changing which screen dayz runs on.

If you want a future in DayZ, I'd recommend just letting deaths go. Especially in Alpha. I was playing with my group the other day, and one guy sprinted into another and killed him instantly. I once crouched and died for no other reason.
-
that is not nearly enough information to go on. However, I recommend ensuring that your mic is recognized and enabled (and likely it's the only device that should be) in the recording tab of windows sound settings. Then, make a Skype test call, and make sure than you only hear everything that you say once, with the delay. You shouldn't hear yourself out of your speakers in direct coms.

I'm looking forward to the time when core optimizations have been more or less figured out and the updates contain many new items and mechanics. This will be good for the next week or two though lol. Tell me though - I saw another video from exp. branch, which appeared to have many more zombies in it. How do you feel the zombie count is in this update?

What kind of playstyle? I'm no sort of recruiter, I'm not even actually a member I don't think, but Beck's Privateers are a large group on teamspeak, hero/survivors. Best part: They divvy up the rooms by place in the map and by hardcore regular, so you just move through the chat channels and can easily pair up with people nearby. It's crappy logging in, looking to play with friends, only to contact your smaller group/individual friends and find out they're on the other side of the map. I can't tell you how many times I've sprinted across the map to meet up with my one friend only to have to leave or have him having to leave by the time I get there.

See, I'm personally down for the current level of darkness, I just want the time to be shorter. I must sound like a broken record, but with the in-game loot economy, switching servers will have no real point besides escaping a never-ending darkness and an empty server lol.

Will there be consequences for your actions?
crimsonbzd replied to cels's topic in General Discussion
Here's my idea for this: I would like to see a physical damage/scarring/gruffness system implemented per character, in regards to kills. Really hard to spot, impossible at any sort of range (unless they have a huge scar over their face, or something, and you have a scope.) These scars/marks/etc don't show up like... per kill or anything, but develop over that character having killed other characters. Not so much a visible "banditry" system, but instead a general kill counter system. This could even be expanded to character lifetime as well, meaning that these certain markers wouldn't necessarily mean anything, just that your character would physically evolve. -
Overall I just see a potential gameplay element lost to community desire. At the point of having daytime/nighttime servers, I think something should be done by release.

Stories, what do you do when fully kitted out?
crimsonbzd replied to Nonapona2's topic in General Discussion
I try and play with a large group and just tag along for the ride. -
If I may pitch in: Health Regen in the standalone is an overall process, and you can't expect to be able to "heal yourself" once you're hurt. You need to take care of your character constantly so you can regenerate when you do take damage. Before you take any damage, you need to have done all you can to keep your character healthy. This means eating and drinking all you can like a spoiled pig (until .33 goes stable, rampant starvation is a known issue) and then keep everything you can after you're stuffed. Get yourself some Vitamins. I don't have a fancy video or any graphs, but best I can tell eating vitamins lowers your threshold to reach "healthy/healing" status. I always keep an eye out for vitamins and I take two just before my last gulp of water (for added realism, i don't think it matters when you take them.) What actually happened to lead me to this conclusion is I was eating and drinking, depleted all my food and drink, never reached "stuffed" or "healthy" then consumed vitamins and suddenly I was "healthy."

Is this a joke or you almost as big an asshole as me? Really, I can't tell. If it's the latter, I do applaud you for the inter-treats.
