Excellent build. I would recommend a 1000 watt PSU however - That GFX card has big fans if I remember correctly, and you want about 30% of your PSU to be extra power so you're not ever pushing the electrical limits. Furthermore - and this is my opinion combined with what I've read countless times on the internet - you're better off with a large copper heatsink over the enclosed water cooling units. Some people claim the cooling performance on the large copper sinks are better than the enclosed units, and problems with leaks, poorly sealed gaskets, and the water going bad inside and failing to cool properly have been reported by users of the enclosed water cooling loops for CPU's like that. Excellent choice on board, as for RAM, 2400 Mhz is good but perhaps research how 1667 will run in your board - I have a maximus HERO myself and my 1667 runs at 2400 no problem. You may be able to save yourself a couple of bucks there. Also, I'm personally running the exact same i7, I also have a computer build in the home with the comparable i5 - the i7 is an overall better processor for gaming as well as video editing and, as I can understand it, can survive temps of up to 100 - although I'd never run mine like that personally. Finally, excellent choice of SSD. The samsung EVO family is great because, using Samsung Magician that comes with the drive, you can enable "RAPID" mode, which offsets the caching blah blah to your RAM or something. I don't really understand it, but it takes pressure of your drive, jumping your average read/write from somewhere in the ~540 Mbps range up to the ~8000 range. Although I personally get the occasional BSOD using RAPID, I'd say maybe once a month. No biggie.

In addition to the above suggestions, make sure whatever connects your heat sink to your board is secured properly. Most likely though, you didn't reapply thermal paste. Also, if that h60 is the enclosed water cooling system, your water may be going bad or the system itself may be beginning to lose performance. I haven't had one myself, but I hear they don't perform as well as the large copper units.

Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion

If you're having audio issues, please turn up your audio samples. I have an external sound card and I'm able to ramp it up over the norm, but when I do I hear nearly every gunshot (that I can account for at least) however I also hear the consistent ammo-splitting playing over and over or the foot shuffle. -
New guy question - character resetting upon server join.
crimsonbzd replied to Primal Rend's topic in New Player Discussion
I don't see them, ever. That's why I have the "as I understand it" pre-clause on there. I don't know anything official or any statements that say what servers do or do not show up on your list, I've just never seen these servers appear on mine at all. -
You're not a kid, gotcha squirt. Removing the "black screen" will not give you extra information about how you died. It will not "let you hear the gunshot" or necessarily even see your baaad, baaad killer. It will, however, let clan members sit there dead giving a TeamSpeak Radar about all contacts moving around their corpse. Also, little one, Learn to DayZ. Yes, you get killed, not knowing where from. Why? Cause you don't know how to DayZ. If you did, you'd know all the possible locations the shot came from, at least in a general sense, because you know how to play the game. You'll also know at this point that it makes no difference, unless you intend to go back and get your gear and need to dispatch this foe first. Which you probably didn't think of, because you really, really don't know how to DayZ. my point being that changing the screen doesn't help your problem in any way, but could be misused by others. Additionally: "Realism in a ZOMBIE" game as if that's so incredulous. It's the point. "Could I survive in a world populated by unthinking, unfeeling cannibals?" Yes, there are no zombies roaming the lands. However, there are people who believe in a hypothetical sense that it actually could happen in the real world that we live in. Are you familiar with DMT? It's a product of a non-flowering bush found in a few certain places around the world, and I'm no expert in it, but I know that that chemical in conjunction with certain brainwashing techniques, one of the biggest being sleep deprivation, has been used in the past to create what was described as a "Zombie Army." Granted, no one was trying to say these individuals were undead, but they were "brainless." They were altered and treated in such a way that, for the rest of their lives, they took orders like zombies from sort of controller.

Samsung 840 EVO with Rapid. for a second opinion (which I believe to be less accurate, considering my seq write should not be that low and my 4K write should not be that high) Anyways... if you have a Samsung EVO expect your DayZ experience to perk up a bit.

Yep, I'll add my "not in a billion years" comment. not in a billion years, kid. Learn to DayZ.

New guy question - character resetting upon server join.
crimsonbzd replied to Primal Rend's topic in New Player Discussion
None of this should be happening. As of right now you're able to 4 distinct characters. 1 for Stable Branch - Third Person, 1 for Stable Branch - First Person, 1 for Experimental branch - Third Person, and 1 for experimental branch, first person. I don't know of any existent bugs or errors that consistently cause character wipes, and as I understand it if a server is not connected to the central hive it will not show up on your list. Furthermore, as I understood it the red messages in the bottom (unless it specifies it's from BE client) are set by the owner of the server, and the "This server will delete your character" message is a ploy by server owners who think they're crafty into tricking people to stay out of their server so they can farm loot. SO. Either A) You're dying every time you log out, which is very easy to do if you don't know where the current safe places to log out are. Be aware that when you log out your character stays in place for 30 seconds doing all sorts of obvious motions, including standing up, crouching, sitting down, and raising your gun. You could be getting killed by players or zombies in that time. Zombies that aren't on your screen or actually able to attack your physical character could be killing you too. Protip: if all else fails, run for 2 minutes in the forest. If you can go 2 minutes without ANY zombie aggro, you should be safe to log out... players are a different story but the woods in this game are large. B ) These servers are having issues or are using a white list by a program outside of BE's control. Same thing as hacking but on a server level. Either way, find out who the server provider is (vilayer, etc) and report the issue to THAT COMPANY. As for what you can do right now: Find a server that does not have that message, or any message or at all, Favorite it, and play there. I'll advertise to you StincFinger's Pleasure Palace server (search "Pleasure Palace" it'll come up, can't miss it.) This server is owned by someone I know to a degree. Either way I play on it often and can gurantee you that it does not delete your character, and the Admin is non-abusive. however, I would suggest making this a habit will all servers that work well for you. If it has low-latency, doesn't delete your character, and has a non-abusive or non-participating admin (an admin who just lets anyone use their server for any style of play and doesn't often boot people or make spots for their clan etc) then Favorite it. -
I dislike their back and forth on the persistent items. I can see adding it, realizing it didn't work, and then removing it again, but I feel what was described to me here is a step back - or at least they should do their best to ready the item degradation system before messing with persistance anymore.

Y'all shout about how this game isn't meant to be realistic cause of the run speed and infinite run and whatever... You do realize that the run speed is close to 30km/h... think maybe that that speed and infinite stamina is implemented to make up for the fact there's no vehicles? DayZ is a zombie survival horror simulation game. You can expect everything to be as realistic as possible once the game is complete.

), you are incorrect that this is required to administer an IV. You need only keep it above your heart. In med school, doctors and nurses have to IV themselves many times for practice -- not only can it be done, it's not even difficult if you know what you're doing (and we assume our characters do know what they are doing since they can administer them to others). Also, aren't there many places where you could hang the bag? I mean, I believe I've seen hat racks, and even hospital beds in this game (not to mention trees)... I really hope the devs include some way to self-blood bag, even if it's a little complicated. I suggest you research the physics behind siphoning, they play a major role here. Also you should read entire bodies of writing, I explicitly mention tying the bag to a doorknob, which serves as one example. A stick is also reasonable.
-
This game is a simulation, and thusly, follows attempts to follow real world principles inside of the fictional world. Thusly the real world is your Logic Check... Could you administer a bloodbag to yourself? The only way feasible way would be to tie the bloodbag to a doorknob or similar object, lay below it, and then let the blood flow into you. There no possible way to give yourself a bloodbag by holding onto the bag, no matter how high you raise it up in the air it cannot be high enough over your highest point, in this case your hand holding the bag up. The pressure will not allow the blood to flow into you. This might be a good implementation WAAYYY later on down the road when the environment is more interactable. However, just holding the bloodbag above you would be unrealistic, and I see it, detrimental to this game.

Appears to me they need to work on loot economy early -
I bet it can play it "just fine." To clarify, I said "to play it like it was" meaning "to play it like it was optimized." I dunno what system requirements lab is, but I don't think it can tell me the how efficient my computer it as a CUDA rendering.
