As far as I'm concerned, server-hoppers being killed by other server-hoppers is just poetic justice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx40udwQvZI

Hope the bug of fall through walls would be fixed quickly

Try moving to a different server, and immediately sprinting and/or vaulting/mounting (pressing 'v') as soon as you enter, even before you can see anything. If you're lucky you might be able to get unstuck while the buildings and such are loading. Hope you get out! Starvation/dehydration can take a LONG time if you've been eating and drinking properly... -

Should zombies be a better source for loot?

Nah, we don't want people being mistaken for zombies. There is enough KoS already, thank you very much! -

Rōnin Rick replied to DevilDog (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Ah, didn't think of that. I suppose I would rather have A LOT of zombies than a few well-kitted ones. Aren't there threads though talking about soldier zombies? I would imagine they could place relatively valuable loot on these ones, so long as soldier zombies are uncommon. -

I'd support that. Makes sense as far as whoever the person was before they became a zombie likely had stuff on them at the time. Of course you likely wouldn't find much on a zombie corpse that was 'pristine', so you'd be looking rather grungy going about wearing whatever you took off that zed you just axe-murdered! ^_^ This would also help cut down on KoS, which is killing the game atm. By both making the zombies more of a threat, and a source of loot, you are encouraging players to WORK TOGETHER to kill zombies and PvE, instead of just murdering each other for the lulz. -

Yes, the glitching/no-clipping through walls is a serious bug right now. Many times your character will simply walk through/over things he shouldn't, be they fences, or rooftop ledges/rails and falling to their death. Also, if you sprint down stairwells, you will occasionally glitch through the wall and out of the building and fall to your death. Certainly it is only an Alpha right now, but it definitely is frustrating to die this way! -
Other. Don't ask. Well of course he wouldn't admit to it! Geesh....

Also, remember that there is penetration in Arma games. If he had a Mosin, 7.62 rounds may well pierce walls/floors. As posted above, some of your body may have been poking through and he saw it and shot you. Also, when you server hopped into that position, your character made noise. You spawn on the server and can hear your character loading his weapons before you can actually see anything. Other people can hear this as well. The solution is to not server hop, followed by a healthy dose of not crying on the forums. Have a good day!

I've actually had more issues with people teleporting TO me, rather than me to them or elsewhere. Empty server, 1 person jumps in, I am in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere (neither Cherno nor Elektro nor airfields nor road/railway) not firing guns or anything and out of nowhere I get shot in the back. No sight or sound of him running up to me first. 225 kilometer^2 map and I'm supposed to believe he just happened along me. This has happened twice mind you, different nights, different servers, presumably different guys. I occasionally play low-pop servers so I can explore, loot, and kill Zeds without being KoS'd by every other person. And so I can gear up without server hopping like those I hate (battle not with monsters, lest you become one...). What's even the point of playing low-pop servers if I'm just gonna get killed anyway? Come to find out there is a reason the server is empty. Badmin is bad. Bullcrap. Waiting for a few more patches before I play any more of this game. I love the game, but the combat-logging, server hopping, ghosting, teleporting, silent ninja zombies passing through walls, and rampant KoSing ruin it at the moment.

Hey guys, so this is my first ARMA/DayZ game, and over the past month I've had tons of fun (aside from the occasional death-inducing bug; I'm looking at you clipping through a wall and falling to my death while running down a stairwell...)! What I'm curious about is how shotguns perform in ARMA games. They're typically gimped in most FPS games like Halo, COD, and what I used to play, Battlefield. They can't kill anything beyond 5 meters. So in these ARMA/DayZ games, are the shotguns actually realistically portrayed? Can I expect to kill people from ~50 meters with buckshot? What tends to be most effective, buck or slugs? Do you expect the shotgun to be competitive with the M4? I'm assuming the M4 will still tend to be the superior choice, however the shotgun will probably be easier (without server hopping... ugh) to acquire as it will likely be a residential spawn; it is a civilian pump-action, yes? Probably like a Remington or a Mossberg? Also, how do you predict the sawn-off version will compare to the pre-hacksawed version? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone find it humorous how much you have to eat in this game? You're eating like 20,000 calories and drinking like 20 gallons of water a day! LOL I'm not complaining, I just giggle when my character stands there eating like 3 cans of beans, sardines, uncooked rice, cereal with no milk, and chugging down a few sodas. And surely he'll be getting cramps from drinking all that water: You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond You drank water from the pond .................................................. I'm surprised my character doesn't just automatically start eating the bandages and blood bags in his inventory, and the shirt off his own back! I pray they don't introduce cannibalism; I know my character has no will-power, he sees meaty goodness and just can't say no.... I'm shocked that with all he's eaten, he has yet to have a bowel movement; I think I need to see a doctor... Perhaps they could just introduce Prunes/Prune Juice you can find and eat/drink. :D No, but seriously, I would love it if you didn't have to eat and drink every 10 minutes just to stay healthy, or healing if you are injured. It is quite a lot of maintenance and breaks immersion somewhat. I'm having PTSD flash-backs from my childhood Tomagochis.... *shudders* *thousand-yard stare* *begins crying softly* *Logs off the forum and curls up into fetal position*

I think just a bug. I notice it when I zoom in with right-click while sprinting. If that's what you're talking about...

Basically, You have 5 meters. Water, Energy, Stomach, Blood, and Health. You can still be hungry or thirsty, or at the very least not at the healing threshold, even though your stomach is full. I'm no good at explaining it, it's very complicated/nuanced, but then, that's Arma for you! I strongly suggest you watch the video I linked up above. It helps a lot in understanding how the game works! Whatever you do, don't keep eating or drinking after you get the 'stomach is full' message, you will throw up and lose a lot of water and energy! Also, NEVER eat rotten fruit, it's not worth it.
-
Short answer: Watch the videos I linked, the first one at least. Long answer: Your stomach fullness is it's own 'meter'. To have enough food/energy to begin healing, you would have to eat another ~10 cans of beans/tuna/sardines AFTER the 'hungry' status goes away. As far as water, just keep drinking as much and as often as possible. You can store A LOT of food/energy in your character, but not nearly as much of water, so you have to keep drinking frequently. You could also have a friend saline bag you to speed things up. Good Luck!
-
And then once your blood is full you can start regenerating health. Keep in mind that to regain blood and remove the screen desaturation, you have to eat and drink A LOT. You can't simply stop once the hunger and thirst messages go away. Keep eating and drinking constantly. There is a certain threshold and once you pass it you have to then wait like 20 minutes to begin regaining blood/health, all the while maintaining your food/water levels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwNgTnj9hBE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVGxHTXbaoo Long videos, but very in-depth/comprehensive! I subbed to him.

My Character is Obese and has Diabeetus...

Gah! Everyone takes this thread so literally! -
I support server reset warnings and hope they are implemented shortly. That said, one reason no warning is a good thing: people would be able to server-hop even more efficiently if they knew when servers were about to reset, and server hopping is a big enough nuisance as is.

True, I was just poking fun. Watch how many people miss the joke and tell me I'm a noob and to go back to COD... You're right though, I was watching a vid online by that Merino guy who does guides for the game, I guess you only need like ~500 energy 'points' to not be hungry, and ~3500-5000 to heal, but you can store up to I think 20,000 energy points in your character. So people, don't hoard your food, eat it if you got it! -
On a somewhat related note, has anyone noticed that you can actually server hop and fix your broken leg? Honest to God, this happened to me once. I was walking down a pier on the coast to see if anything was at the end of it, and my character slipped off and fell ~10 feet into the water and broke his leg; I hopped out of the server and into another, just because, and I could walk! Yet another way to abuse server hopping! Yay?
-
Lol, can you push people in-game by walking into them? If so, that would be a deliciously humiliating way to troll bandits sniping from rooftops! Also, just because it is a part of Arma's engine doesn't mean it has to stay like that. It is an open Alpha for a reason, so they can improve and refine things. We should all be bringing issues to the devs' attention, not just bemoaning them as 'the way it is'! :)
