I'm pretty sure deer stands include most high end gear. Exceptions being the best weapons such as the 50 cals, heavy machine guns, some select assault rifles, and the range finder. Which are reserved for heli crashes and barracks.

That sounds about right, though I'd be in favor of resetting the stats at zero and seeing if those numbers hold. That way any concerns over the mass killings From the hackers a while back and whatnot can be accounted for. Either that or something like taking samples from select date ranges to see if those kill ratios are trending up, down, or holding steady.

Firearms and the Ammunition System

This is already being implemented. You can change magazines into their equivalent of a different weapons. Example dmr can be turned into four m24 magazines. -
Recently I decided it was more lucrative to hunt geared players for loot than to constantly search for it. So for much of today I was more or less motionless for a couple hours at a time. I kept seeing this crow fly around. Sometimes it would caw and when I looked it was swooping right past me. Then it would fly out and circle a few times. When moving through the woods I would hear it but could never see it through the trees. I'm curious if rocket snuck that mechanic in or if I just am getting too paranoid/bored sitting around waiting for players worth shooting. Have any other bandits noticed crows keeping close company?

As far as I know dayz doesnt allow spectator mode. It seems like there are always crows around me. If I'm in a building I see one outside every so often, in a field they look like they do a very large circle or figure eight in the area, and in the woods I can occasionally hear them but the trees stop me from seeing them. I'm not sure if they're random ambient creatures everyone gets in their area or if it is that subtle indication that I'm a bandit. Lol anyone with high humanity seeing them too?

Last I knew you had 2 days to get your stuff out of the tent before it all vanishes forever. So yes if you donta have another tent to put the stuff in, you can only save what you can carry. Vehicles are linked to the server not to you. They will stay where you left them until someone finds it and moves it or destroys it, as far as I know.

Yeah I honestly couldnt tell if it was random like the chirps you hear every now and then or if it actually follows. I'll experiment some tomorrow and see if I can get a definite answer. Might try asking the survivor forums if people with high humanity have them too.

No. You need tents or vehicles for storage. -
Since I see a ton of threads saying "WE NEED TO KNOW WHO BANDITS ARE!!!1!!!1!!!one!!" What if there was a skin for friendly players? So then if you have really really high humanity, you get the option to identify as such. I don't know what the scaling for humanity is, but if you make it so that you can't just get it for helping out one or two people it'd mean that almost everyone has their normal camo/ghillie/civilian clothes. Bandits still get ambiguity since I would imagine only a few people (such as the traveling doctor) would have the good guy skin (optionally if they wanted to). And hell you can still shoot them on sight if you want to. Anyways, just an idea. Discuss ^_^

Player running from zombies, shot and goes down, zombies hit him and kill him, is that death attributed to the shooter or to the zombies? I ask because I shot a guy running across the airfield at me, and he went down then proceeded to shoot at zombies after him. When he died I got credit, but couldn't tell if it was result of bleeding out from my shot or zombie hits (he was swarmed by them). Just curious if there is any solid knowledge of how that works.

To paraphrase "playing the game is fun if you take out the 'playing the game' part." Hey did you know there is an armory in arma 2 that let's you have infinite amounts of all the loot you could ever want? Maybe this isn't the game for you. -
I've had terrible luck finding a good rifle. In a few weeks I've found 3 CZ's and a couple of M14's but none of the other rifles that are good for any sort of ranged shots. Yesterday night I was in NWAF. I had a ghillie, plenty of food and supplies, everything except a good gun and nightvision basically. As I was crawling around I stumbled on a gun with some ammo. I brought up my menu and it was an SVD with 3 or 4 clips. Right as I was clicking to swap it for my AKM I had a lag spike and timed out. Me being an idiot I didn't remember which server I had been on so I had no way of logging back in and hopefully finding it again. Alas the hunt continues haha.

As painful as it is most of the time, I still try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I think the 1 or 2 out of 10 people who are genuinely friendly make up for the rest that turn hostile sooner or later haha. -
They're not actually dead. So that helps. Think 28 Days/Weeks Later - "Infected" not rotten corpses.

Translucent circles around zombies

It applies to more than zombies. All animals and players and vehicles have little markers too, I logged in to one of those servers once. I thought it was a serious bug until I learned about the recruit difficulty haha. -
There needs to be clear indications of who is good and bad.

Helicopter crash sites -- what do?

I think they work similarly to vehicle spawns. I'm guessing from what I have seen through videos and photos, so don't hold me to this haha. But I believe there is a larger set of 'possible' locations, and a small portion of those are selected at random to have crashes there. I base this off of multiple videos and photos I have seen depicting crash sites. They always seem to be in similar locations (though this may be coincidence.) For example there is one north/north-east of Stary that I have seen in media, as well as in person on several different servers. It isn't always there, but if it is, it's in the same spot. Either coincidence or that is one of the random locations that is being selected. -
Yet another idea for 'Solving PVP'

I 'solve' the pvp problem, by not shooting people on sight. Does it get aggravating when I say I'm friendly, and/or offer to help and am eventually repaid with a bullet, yes. But, despite wanting to just shoot everyone on sight, I'd like to try and turn this around so I hold fire. Exceptions being, if they're already shooting at me I return fire. I might be trying to be nice, but I'm not an idiot about it either. Follow people for a bit, see if you can figure out what they're like before you rush up and say "hi" to their face. If a few bad apples turned everyone "kill you if you're not in my private chat" maybe we can get a few kind players to start reversing it. That said, some people just want to watch the world burn. This game wouldn't be as fun if EVERYONE was nice all the time, haha. -
Hopefully this hasn't been brought up to death already. But a search didn't find anything related to this. Is it possible to include polls into the forums(not using external sites)? Rather than "Who wants __________" and a hundred yes/no posts. We could have an actual poll that would give a numerical value instead of needing to scroll and take tallies of each opinion. I'm not sure about how much work it would take to bring polls into these forums but if it isn't difficult I think it could have useful applications. If anything it could be limited to Admins so we aren't spammed with hundreds of duplicate polls asking the same questions. Anyway just a thought, anyone think it would be a good idea?

I'd like to note, you can click on Rocket's username and see all the posts he's made, and get a super easy way to view everything he has posted. Then you get all the answers really quickly. I use it all the time to see what he has to say before I ask a question he might have answered. Why is everyone I meet an ***hole?

I was at Balota AF. Saw a guy running across, and he saw me. I took cover by a hanger door, he proned. I held position while he slowly moved in. Got within talking range and I announced I was friendly, just looking for supplies and would head out now. He said "easy let's not do anything hastey. I don't want a firefight" I asked him if he wanted me to drop some food for him as a token of good faith before I left (this was when food was scarce and I had a ton of meat on me). I walked out the door and tried to run around the hanger's side but he killed me outright. ------------- Later that day I was in a tree stand, and spun around to see two guys staring at me. I told em I was friendly and not to shoot. the first guy lowered his weapon and the second blasted me with two shots. The first guy climbed up and started to bandage me but I bled out first. Screen went black as I heard him saying he was really really sorry. Mixed results, not everyone is an asshole, sometimes they're just a little jumpy haha. I still find the odd player who won't kill me right away and wants to run around a bit as a team. -
Question(s) for Rocket, Since you're using the latest beta build, will we be keeping our items when swimming or do you prefer that we lose them in that scenario? To take a step back, is this an overall decision or a server setting that is up to whoever own the individual server? I noticed it said it was done by editing a file, and from my experience that is generally just a small configuration setting that anyone could modify, so I'm not sure of the implications for this mod.

Or in the event of neither of those, is this now opening it up for debate and possible implementation later?

Even with the absence of food and water from... Everywhere, I like it. Now you literally have to kill zombies, just to find food and drink on them. Starting with no weapon makes it even more intense. You start with nothing, your only chance of survival is to find a gun and ammo (which so far seems decently easy to do) then fight the infected until they drop supplies. Adds a new dynamic since now you can't just avoid the infected forever, you need to fight them. Additionally I like the evasion mechanic, it isn't too easy to lose them, but with some work and quick thinking you can get rid of them. Of course running inside basically is a get out of jail free card haha. Also LOVE the switching ammo to work in gun of choice, so convenient. On a side note, for the first time since I started playing this mod, I ran across 3 people none of whom tried to kill me outright. Anyways that is just my opinion on it. Anyone else really enjoying the added challenge?
