Yesterday evening I went to start Arma 2 through steam, and it gave me some message about the files being in some outdated format. In order to play it had to convert the files to a more recent format or something like that. I didn't think anything of it so I didn't write it down. A few minutes later it finishes, and now every time I go to start Arma 2 Combined Operations I get this message: "This game is currently unavailable ( Application Running )" Regular Arma II, and Arma II Operation Arrowhead start just fine. It is only affecting "Combined Operations." I've tried to verify the game cache. Ran that about 10 times until it didn't do any updating at all. I installed Battle-eye again. I tried with and without beta. With and without launch-options for dayz. Countless restarts, running in Administrative Mode etc. I've also been searching the web and forums and have had no luck in finding a solution, though several people have had this error message. There is another variation that says "Please try again later" instead of "Application running" but they are NOT the same issue, so none of the related fixes for the former case have had any affect. If anyone has had this issue and resolved it please let me know. For now I can boot the game through manually navigating to and running the game's EXE however I'd rather have the issue resolved than simply avoided.

Not really. If you can't maneuver to find a spot to reach it. Good luck finding another tent.

Chainsaw, since well... Why not. Behaves like a full auto melee weapon, needs to be refueled with Jerry can when fuel runs low. Loud as hell but can tear apart anything in front of you.

I personally like the .50 Caliber for the exact reasons many people hate it. When there is a sniper in Cherno/Elektro, they're not exactly the type of people who are going to play 'fair.' Regardless of what the sniper is using, it is going to piss of people. Every sniper rifle will incapacitate a player with one well-aimed shot, so it is still going to annoy everyone to death. The key reason I like .50 Cals though, is that if me and my friends are down on the coast doing trivia questions and giving out gear / supplies, you'd be surprised how often someone stops by and is like "hey there is a sniper in cherno, could you guys help with that?" Having a .50 Cal allows a guaranteed killshot on the sniper in cherno. They can't DC and heal then go back to sniping. They can't sneak behind cover and bandage. They die. That ends the kill spree and provides a few more minutes of safety in cherno. I know I've spent time in Cherno, not shooting noobs who really aren't worth the bullet, especially now that ammo doesn't refill automatically, but shooting the guys who climb the tall building or sit in the hills racking up kills. TL;DR: .50 Caliber rifles are the best defense, because they guarantee the sniper gets killed. Not all geared players are assholes.

That has been happening on my server as well. Seems to be a patch bug. We've tried two trucks and the heli but they all respawn on restarts. Also we have noticed on several servers, tents won't save any more new stuff in them. Had a great raid with a car through a bunch of towns and brought back tons of food water and med supplies, but none of the stuff we put in tents, or left in the car have saved. It has persisted through several betas in 1.7.2.5

You can ban by the game id that is assigned with each copy of arma. At best you're forcing hackers to buy a new copy of the game. But it's pretty much impossible to prevent a determined hacker from playing. Anything can be circumvented with a little know-how.

Nice stuff is up north where the stakes are higher and people are generally better shots, so it is risky to try to get the stuff without a game plan. Be ready to die quite a few times. But there is truth in the game being much more fun with friends. I played solo for like two months, never setup a large camp or found vehicles and it started to get bland. Then I got a few friends to play with and we have a blast. Running around to help each other regular after death, or raiding camps, running around the coast helping noobs or scaring them to death by shooting at their feet, which is way more hilarious than just shooting them lol. Group dynamic makes the game a whole new beast.

This happened to me earlier and really concerned me. Howeveri gave it about 5 mins. Closed the game, started it back up after waiting, and bam they were back again. Might just have been some weird network glitch somewhere in the vast Internet tubes. Generally just patiently waiting for a while solves those types of problems.

It decays over time. So there is that to take into account.

When a server first starts is there a timer on vehicle spawns? I heard choppers take up to a week to spawn, but is it like that with all vehicles?

I just think after a certain point having everything is boring. Besides the most fun I've had in this game was running around and suddenly hearing a chopper overhead. Such an adrenaline rush, and if I own the chopper I can't have that happen lol.

I think posting it publicly will be just asking for an onslaught of hackers haha

You can use custom player skins. Jason is a popular one. Just having the skin isn't a hack by itself.

I started a new server today. Within 20 mins I saw some guy pop on followed by a message like "Battle Eye has issued a ban on player ... " Honestly first time I've seen that happen, happy it is doing its job, 11k bans so far. I feel a bit safer already haha. Also happy to have a server where I can enforce a no butthurt hoarding vehicle admin policy. So if I lose my shit you won't get kicked and server restarted to oblivion. I hate when that happens to me so I won't be ruining other player experiences by sabotaging a good raid.
