It seems to be different for certain servers. At first I was bummed because I lost all my stuff. Played for a while with the new character, but went over to another server and my original player was restored. Some of my gear was missing, but it's better than nothing. Try a few more servers, maybe it'll work out.

From my time in the game so far, I've learned that most solid structures and two-story homes spawn decent loot. If you come across a brick building, cement building, big home, etc you will find something worth keeping. Obviously places like the shipwreck, cities, and military zones are also hiding great things.

For those of you that enjoy playing at night time: How easy is it to spot a player far away who's using a flashlight? Obviously a white beam of light will be easily noticeable in a city if you're looking for one, but what about out in the woods or across a big field?

Sounds like a good plan. I was looking for a reason to use the mosin, maybe I'll just shoot it for fun while night looting (with my torch waving around of course).

Wow, wasn't expecting that one, comes with buying the alpha I guess. And to kichilron, I don't plan on using the gamma settings. More fun to see how things play out with the flashlight.

Don't know if it's been said, but Minecraft is similar in the fact that you start out with nothing. Although it's a lot easier to survive in minecraft (if you decide not to play on peaceful).

The fact that gas masks and payday masks come off as hostile is exactly the reason I've never picked them up. I keep on a green dirt bike helmet, I think it makes me look more friendly/new to the game (which I am).

Similar story here...got lucky and found an m4, tons of ammo, food, and lots of good stuff after having the character for a good 5 hours. Figured it wasn't a huge drop to the ground, so I skipped the stairs and dropped off the ledge. Apparently my character didn't like that and died haha... Oh well, guess thats what happens when you play the alpha version of any game.

Bought the game yesterday, been playing for a few hours and got lucky. Found an m4 with ammo, magnum, splitting axe, a chest holster, lots of food and drink, green cothes w/ pockets, some morphine, can openner, and a few other random things worth keeping. I've been a hermit in the woods sofar, only come out to loot buildings.
