so as i was kneeling down and bandaging myself a zombie runs up from behind (this was on 3pp) (edit: yes i was full health, the zed i just killed hit me once, i was "healthy" and all green status, only bleeding for 5 seconds) and swings once, downwards in my direction instant. you are dead. only expeienced an insta-death like that from being shot in the face point blank. what the hell happened? did that extra damage thats supposed to hit my chest, hit my unprotected head and cause a headshot kill? i had just found an anti stab vest, as the final kick in the balls

ooh, another thing to make chernarus's (insert personal favorite RP/Survival/Terrain feature here) sooooo much better! flashing up dayz to go for a hike, spot some wildlife and have a picnic at green mountain. jesus wept. he wept because zombies are broken and nobody gives any fucks for them.

dayz mod is still technically in alpha. it is more fun, competitive and stable than the SA. the SA runs on the same engine, using the same code, with the same textures and the same objects and the same items as the mod. no leap forward. dayz SA being shitty is subjective opinion, which mine is. dayz SA being underwhelming is pretty damn near consensus. this alpha was released too early to be considered a playable game. it hasn't reached playable status, no matter how you internally rationalize it out of fear for the future of the game or defensiveness for being told you wasted your money, just my 2 centz -

in dayz you have always spawned on the beach. with the occasional novy or wilderness spawns, we've always been on the coast. with the shipwreck at rify and all the boats on the shore: we need another shipwreck on the south coast. there are too many survivors to have come from one ship, and this adds another dynamic area and gives more backing to the "we washed ashore in the ZA" lore. we could use lifeboats, makeshift rafts and other signs of arrival. also the plane wreckage in chernogorsk... did we come from there? the crashed helicopters? spawning in a "lore friendly location" with "lore friendly items" example: spawn in a hospital room wearing a doctors coat or in a barracks wearing a ballistic helmet, or near a heli crash wearing a pilots helmet... discuss.

waking up in a house that's trashed, wearing worn civilian clothing... very cool and RP/lore friendly we dont know how we ended up in cherno but we should either be shipwrecked survivors or chernarus natives. or both. -

sawed off shotgun: super inaccurate unless 10m or closer. recoil affects your aim massively, both barrels fired at once causes me to shoot above the target 99% of the time. the cone spread of the pellets has to be broken in some way, either such a random spread or the pellets don't register individually. the shotgun doesn't "ricochet" at all. only two shots with massive recoil and you have to reload with a speedloader that is slower than all other rifles. verdict: useless trash weapon, avoid at all costs, unless fixed by devs will always be trash i'm waiting for a pump action shotgun so i never have to witness a double barrel again

the attachment system is fundamentally flawed. i'd rather have ultra-rare variants with permanent attachment slots. ie: your m4a1 has either an RDS attachment slot, or an ACOG slot. not both. m4's with all magpul or all cqb or all stock no switching around not "realistic" but more balanced in terms of gameplay. "realistic" would be super customization on an individual level

overall, shitty and slow and underwhelming not quite the "great leap forward" that i thought the SA would be. we have the mod on steroids and getting organ transplants and facelift nothing's really improved from 3 years ago just being real peace and love peace and love -
