Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

domina has something invested in this that defies reason. we were ripped off/left to hang. he wants modders to finish the job for him. end of story. -

i'll say this for sure: 1.5 million people WON'T be supporting him next time. way less next time. -

i'd have more sympathy for him if he spent less time on twitter and twitch and more time MAKING THE GAME -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
pacific_coast replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
well, he is abandoning his creative oversight of the game. before it's finished. he made his money. more power to him i guess. it's a shame this game will never be complete and the person we put funding and hope into decides to f*ck off and leave the project. -

seriously some of his bs ideas floated out in the last few weeks made me think "does he realise this is dayz? or is his planning another game as he's making this?" -

BI asked modders to finish arma 3 and they said GFY. dean hall can ask modders to save his ass and keep the royalites flowing, but he'll likely get the same answer. -

fear of a finished product. -
Domina, the issue is this. I feel slightly let down. Slightly ripped off. BI is a terrible studio, and without Dean Hall actively guiding the process, this would have become ARMA3:dayZ edition. Now, he says the game is fundmentally flawed, and he won't be on the project after beta launches. The game can change DRASTICALLY between beta and launch. Once rocket is gone the BI exec will tell the new lead: "want to keep your job? hype rediculous features and get this out the door asap!" and the game will never be what it COULD HAVE BEEN because the creator said "eh, why bother? i'll go make something else..." if you want to be an elitist and critizise the intelligence of your community memebers, you can leave.

and in 18 months time when he tries to get funding for his next project i'll be there screaming: REMEMBER DAYZ? HE ABANDONED THE MOD, HE ABANDONED THE SA BEFORE BETA, YOU EXPECT A GAME FROM THIS PERSON?! -
The nature of public hives effectively destroy the challenge of surviving.
pacific_coast replied to froggan's topic in General Discussion
private hives are needed for alot of what you people expect to get out of this game. yolo bandits ruining your group event? private that shit. -
are the zeds alive or dead? are the normal humans with a disease? or undead drivin by instinct to kill? i've never had this defined by the devs of this game but rocket is abandoning the game before beta so i guess i'll never know

pacific_coast replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
when the all the lead dev can say about his game is "this is coming" or "this is being looked at" or "i'd like to have something like that in there one day" during the three months of public alpha testing... something is terribly wrong. i think he "mentally-checked-out" of DayZ a looooooong time ago. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
pacific_coast replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I know. We, at least I was, sold, on the idea that he was passionate about this project and would finally have the resources and support to finish it. now he's made money and gotten homesick and wants to set his own timetable... and the project is "passed on to competent hands" how competent are those hands? how many of those people contribute ideas towards development? cause i'll ive heard is "rocket is god almighty since day one he makes the game according to his vision" and now that vision isn't worth his time anymore. i am dissapoints -
ahh. GAMER GURLZ on Twitch raising money and whoring attention... GOD BLESS 'EM
-
i'd rather have zeds wearing player default clothes sometimes so we know that was a fresh spawn that bit it and is now roaming chern as a ghoul.. but wait these arent zombies they're "infected" so i dunno man... whatever?

BI has a terrible terrible track record on releasing games. A3 released un-finished and they asked modders to finish the game for them. Thinking Dean would stay on through the development process was a big reason I invested in the early access. I don't care what the hell he does after DayZ. I expect the game to GO OFF THE RAILS pre-to-mid BETA as BI's skeleton crew attempts to draw together release sales. I personally won't be putting any stock into Dean's "Announcements" "Upcoming Features" for the time he reamains at BI. I'll listen to the person who's going to FINISH the project. -
i'm supposed to have faith in the 30 or so coding monkeys he's leaving the grunt work for? i thought rocket was a visionary? how could the game turn out the same or better after he's f*cked off?
-
now that he can only do damage to dayZ until beta means that there is a slim chance that game could be salvaged.

people's "faith in rocket's vision" made that type of roadmapping acceptable. Not anymore.
