Isn't most of this copy-paste from the last patch notes? -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

The profit has already been generated. There is no economic incentive for neither Dean nor Bohemia to continue with this. People seem to forget that when they throw their money at projects like this. Now, I'm not saying it will be abandoned, but we'll probably have to be content with ad-hoc features like spray-painted Mosins for a long while. Underground bases seems to be light-years away. -
Oh, and I also saw some guy speedhacking, (not warping), in Cherno. Definitely not warping/rubberbanding. Looked like Charlie Chaplin.

I play a lot at night and frequently find myself "running into" people on servers with only me and 1-2 other players on. Very odd on a 225 km^2 map. The hackers, or cheaters as they should be called (most of these people don't have a clue about hacking), are, of course, there. But we don't have the blatant client-side exploits that were possible in the mod now, because of the modifications to the server-client architecture, and so they are not so visible as they used to be. So instead of flying cows we're back to the usual ESPs, wallhacks and aimbots. I'm sure the "there are no hackers only hackusations" crowd are going to claim victory because of this.

Alpha usually means it's not feature complete. Beta means feature complete, but not properly tested. However, these definitions may vary, and the difference between alpha and beta can differ from software to software.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZG3-a-5NDg#t=4m15s I guess this might be related to the desync issues, but I can't help but think it might have been some kind of exploit also. It sure helps to teleport through floors.

Yes, did some checking now, and you are absolutely right.

Players with masks never want to be friends with me. I've tried wearing a mask also, to socialize, but they still won't be my friend.

Thought it was going to be an easy kill, so I was just waiting for him to get up the stairs. He didn't seem to have seen me.

Seems odd. I think this whole system is terribly buggy. Here's what happened to me: Spawned, ate rice and drank water till I was full, got the "stuffed" indicator, puked, "stuffed" indicator did not go away. Then I almost immediately started dying of dehydration and just barely managed to find a pipsi in time. Then I ate and drank till I was full again, however, this time I did not puke but got the "hydrated", "energized" and "healthy" indicators. After several hours of real-time game play with very little food, the "stuffed" indicator is still there, as are the "energized" and "healthy" indicators. Only my thirst seems to go down, but only slightly. -

We can only dream. Right now it seems to me they are still not out of the quagmire that consists of fixing broken stuff only to break something else. A lot of this "complexity" seems to be half-baked ad-hoc implementations (and are probably not meant to be anything more than prototypes of final, working systems). My guess is it's going to take a long while still before we see something substantial. The last thing you want to do with a system that is still so brittle as this engine apparently is, is to add more complexity. -

Oooh, spraypainted camo guns. When do we get battlepacks? -
OMG, that is so racist! Thankfully, rocket in his wisdom called them 'very dark' and not 'African-Americans' or, *gosh*, 'negroes'.

Dean was warned about the infeasibility of the ARMA engine for a game like DayZ. I'm sure he is working his ass off, and that he is a very nice person, but again that does not invalidate the point about the obvious lack of progress the last 1.5 years, despite BI having become multi-millionaires (I dont' know what Dean's cut is). -

I see no warnings to not buy the game because of lacking content. I'm sure there are reasons for the lack of progess - that does not invalidate the point. The money has been there for at least a year already. -

I'm talking about the project from start to now - not just the last month. And frankly, I'm not too impressed by these patches either. Much of it seems like leftovers thrown to the dogs. -

Actually, I can't remember content being part of the warnings at all. It was mostly about functionality and bugs. Which is a bit odd, because the game functions reasonably well for an alpha. It's the lack of content and progress that is disturbing. -

So the point now is that developers are hard to find? If they can't find, staff and train a group of new coders in a year, then I'd say they have a project management problem. -

It's a legitimate point, isn't it? 'Fixes' such as these: "Reduced dispersion of FNX45 (from 0.05 to 0.03)" strikes me as very odd in this phase of the development.
