Why did he just sit down?

Well you seem to be rather greedy of your own stuff yourself, otherwise you would not need to justify to protect it in an imaginary way, by shooting a guy that did not pose any threat to you. You came on that roof to kill people, not to loot anyone, not for survival, just for PvP. You should at least be able to admit it. There is no reason to shoot people in this game, the survival aspect is laughable, gear and everyday stuff comes by the tons. Player interaction is not exercised because it simply is not needed. There is no need for banditry either, because this would imply the need of new gear. Fact is this game is just another shooter and will stay this way for a long, long time. On the topic though, this is indedd the new logout timer. Still sub-optimum, but this is the best I could think of as well.

    Why ARMA Engine?

Well the answer is simple: The Mod was created for the ARMA II engine and the SA was transcirbed to the Take on Helicoptre engine, right? Which is just an improved version of the Arma II engine. So why did they use it? First of all even with being 5 years old it still looks good, it can display large landscapes, the engine is specifically made for this, it can host a whole environment, and the Devs know their way around with the engine. If they used, say the Frostbyte, CryEngine, or even the CoD engine they would be facing problems concerning making DayZ as wide as it is know, just look how small the environments are in BF4 or CoD and how hardware hunger is for these games, it just would not work. Engines that could work are the Oblivion and the Skyrim engine as they too can depict large areas, albeit having loading screens and being solely in an singleplayer environment. It also works fine concerning combat, as gun and melee play is rather uncomplicated and straightforward. Apart from licensing these engines (which costs money, or are not available at all), the Devs would have to learn a new engine, which is just like learning a new language, simplified speaking.

    Burlap Sack locations?

The burlap sack itself is bugged, you can still see through it, I doubt it even shows up on your head. As for the improvised backpack, we had a guy looking a whole day for a backpack, and I had one burlap sack in my backpack for days, because I wanted to make one of these, it took me the whole day to find a rope and some sticks, granted we did not loot a lot of residential buildings, but if they want it as an option they drastically need to increase the spawns, since right now, every backpack type is far more common, than any of these ingredients. Plus as a fresh spawn, you can not even get all the crafting items into your inventory, unless you find the rope and the sack first. Considering that space is really scarce in the first encounters and loot tours and the fact that you need a lot of rags and food, it does not help the situation either. This is likely to be fixed though, especially since the garage and shed loots seemed to have disappeared completely. As for the looks, it is really flat, beige and rather good camo. While the other backpacks stick out a bit due to the sheer size on your back, the improvised is really great value if you want to conceal yourself, plus the 20 slots give you a decent amount of space.

Intriguing! Pick your own fashion kind of way? The best colors to look dashing in after getting shot? :D

    Weapon extinction

Hmm my mates and I got killed several times now since the update, but weapons are not hard to come by. I had 3 M4s in two days that I could not pick up, because I was already carrying two weapons. We killed three people yesterday. All of them were equipped with at least one long weapon. Some even had two. I was at Green mountain, my mate looted the police, when two guys came in, I panicked and shot the first, and told the second to loot his mate and log off, they both had M4s. Then two others came along, shot the poor fellow and they surely had a Mosin with a scope and a M4 as well. Guns are not hard to get at all. Pristine attachments are a bit more scarce though, yet the missing tent loot is a bug, so if you are there log onto a HC server, loot and log back. I doubt someone is going to condemn you for that. Other than that, barracks hold a lot of attachment as well, albeit in rather poor condition mostly.

    Random zombie sound glitch bitch-fest

Ha, ghost sounds I call them. Was on a field yesterday, saw three guys 200m away looting a building, hit the deck, and hit next to a stone wall. Did not know whether they had seen me, so I stayed there for a couple of minutes, until I heard a soda can opening right behind me. I thought they ghosted me and nearly shit my pants. Nobody there though. Would have been one cool move though, sneak up behind a guy just to open a soda can. Anyway these half-grunts of Zombies are unnerving, as are the rattles of fences. I heard a mosin or shotguns shot yesterday as well. Like it had been fired 60m away from my position, but not at me, could not find anyone though. Stuff like this is really getting me wound up. :D

How to regain blood after patch?

Is there a real number how much blood it refills now? Less than blood bags now?

    TS3 and Dayz

What I had to get myself, before, was getting a headset with integrated sound-chip otherwise I could not have TS sound on the HS and game sound on the speakers. Vista and WIn 7 until some time in 2012 somehow could not deal with it. But it likely is just a volume mixer issue, that can easily be taken care of.
  9. Me and my mate were at Pavlovo and one saw us, I tipped the alarm with my sawed-off shotgun, that you probably heard in Cherno as well, and on the whole seven zombies came at me. :D

No loot in cars since update?

I always looked at the map for potential looting spots, and it always said that within every car is the potential of really good loot, yet I never found anything on them, same with helicopter wrecks and broken down IFVs.

Using spray can on weapon question.

Yeah spraying basically deletes the object and spawns a new one in your inventory instead of just adding paint. And by the way the mags and handles are just the regular ones you could find already. There were green mags, handguards, buttstocks before the patch. And you can only paint the magpul attachments and the c-mags. By the way, how do you get the camo paintjob?
  12. The rewards are only a mental state, though. Gamewise you do not gain anything, because there is no real need to team up, as DayZ offers no threat apart from other players right now. Once that is fixed and certain mechanisms are developed though KoS will likely sove itself.

    Lots of Zombies

As a newspawn I once had aggroed two along the road to solnichy, but thought I lost them. At the entrance I accidentally aggroed one, just to be greeted by another two coming up, and the two I thought behind me suddenly had warped into close proximity. And I believe we shot one at Elektrofirestation, to encounter 6-7 zombies running for us in the course of a minute.

Being a bandit that doesn't KoS feels good.

Force is in no way only related to killing or hurting people. The english language is not really rich in terms of synonyms etc. Robbing itself is a form of force as well, and handcuffing certainly is. Bandits rarely kill their victims, simply by the fact, that there is no need to, and they offer little to no threat. Murdering people you are robbing is risky for yourself as you might be hunted down and executed for their actions. Bandits, waylayers usually stick to these crimes: Theft, Rob, Blackmail. Rarely murder or manslaughter. It stands to reason, when you are robbed, and being deprieved of a can-opener, the incentive for remorse is rather low. Murder however enforces an immediate reaction, as in DayZ now. Right now though the mechanisms of DayZ enforce KoS, looking for deathmatch opportunities etc. without the fear of remorse or any other form of retaliation.

    Should Cannibalism be in DayZ?

It all depends, of course. And keep in mind that all ragdoll animations etc. in FNV were removed or altered for the german version. There was a perk, I remember, but that one was tied to a heavy Karma and/or Reputation loss. Wasn't there a similar quest in Skyrim, too? Where you would escort a person to a feast of cannibals? It all depends on how they picture it, and if the Devs are willing to change certain things. By the way, a ban would certainly not increase revenue, by way of guerilla marketing. The vast majority of possible buyers will not be reached, when it is neither allowed to be advertised, and not visible, purchasable, or able to activate via steam.
  16. It does not really reward it. If you are armed and the other person is not, then you have nothing to gain really that could not also be achieved by each minding their own business. If you are more geared than him, then he will have nothing of interest for you except maybe a canopener. You will likely have a shitload of supplies, ammo etc. He will have nothing of interest for you. But in shooting first you are risking your life as well. Combat is always risky, backing off not that much. Furthermore zombies or environmental threats are now non-existant, even for new spawns, and geared up nothing but other players pose a challenge. That is why most people go to Elektro and KoS. Not roleplay or anything, it is just not enough to do and gearing up is so easy.

    Should Cannibalism be in DayZ?

I have seen a documentary on that one, and as stated by me the example that springs to mind, when Cannibalism is brought up. These people are mentally scarred for life, and it was a situation way more extreme, than anything we would ever have in DayZ. There was nothing to feed on, just barren mountains, snow and ice. Yet within the 70 days or so, they ate the dead that were preserved through the rough climate. So again a different situation than in DayZ. Nobody could or would have eaten if the plane had crashed in an environment and climate like Chernarus. People need to apply common sense to this feature before they vote. People advocating it can now only refer to the sandbox argument and consuming the meat immediately after killing, which would just openly advocate murder. DayZ should give opportunities, but should not allow thousands of people to play as the totally mental psychotic killer.

    Should Cannibalism be in DayZ?

How can you ban a mod? It is free product available from thousands of sources over the internet. The cannibalism isn't part of the DayZ mod itself but basically a mod for DayZ, right? How do you ban a Mod's modification, then? You could only ban Arma II. By the way, in Germany, a ban is nothing like you think it is, you can still sell it, but there it is forbidden to promote it. You can buy it, when older than 18, you can import it too. But, and here comes the trouble with Steam, the provider (Steam) can decide to make it unplayable in your country, so this is risky. Germany alone, by the way, is one of the biggest markets for computer and video games, nobody wants to miss out on this revenue. This is, totally simpflified, how it works in Germany. Unless, of course, things get completely forbidden, because they break national law and/or the constitution. An example would be the game calles Concentration Camp Manager. Cannibalism in a game available on Steam could fall under that rule, and could not be sold in Germany and you likely would not be able to play it via Steam. On the topic though. No it should not be added. In our culture it is a thing nobody does, and in the rare occassions things like this happen, e.g. that plane crash in Chile, it is this or die. It is the last resort and always a traumatizing and hurtful experience. Just because it is an apocalyptic scenario does not mean every moral standard falls apart. Food is not scarce in DayZ, and likely never will. There is no need to simulate things in a game that could be exploited in a way to produce thousands of maniac serial killers, excusing themselves with the "sandbox-argument".

The reason why i kill on sight now !!

Sometimes I just do not get people, but I guess the reason why there are so many people killing others on sight, or after a short talk is the simple fact that there is no real threat at the moment from Zombies or the Environment once you have equipped yourself. Apart from this killing does not make any sense at all, if you think about it. If you are geared up there is no need for anything else, your pack is already full. If you are a new spawn, you will easily get hands on equipment without ever killing a person or being killed by zombies. Naturally you could speed things up by looting someone else with better equipment, but that endangers you more than the potential target. There is just nothing else to do really apart from getting geared up easily, and then what do bored people do? They exploit all possibilities, and the nearest solution is going to Elektro and start fighting. What else can you do? All backpacks are filled up, you have likely seen most of Chernarus, too. The countryside is empty. My squad were going to Elektro specifically looking for trouble too. Two got shot while watching corners until I figured out where that guy was and shot at him. He combat logged, but I was not sure whether there were mates around. Another friend joined me on the Hospital roof, while the others tried to get back to their bodies. I killed two guys on sight trying to loot their bodies, but I do not know whether they were part of any team. Shot another one that was trying to locate me, and his alter ego again when he tried to get his stuff back. The guy with the combat log came through the door and I hit him as well. That was fun and all, but I would not have done it, if I could have assessed the situation more objectively or if there was real value in gear or interaction with people right now. Other than that most kills are executed out of sheer panic moments, when somebody just stands in front of you. But sometimes you see some awkward stuff. There was a guy killing new spawns in Kamyshovo, not looting anything but stripping their bodies and putting all the clothes in one pile. What kind of person is this? That is what I do not like about sandboxes. Once zombies, are real threats and loot gets balanced, item condition is really added, you are bound to see more interaction between players and less KoS, so no bother arguing about it now, where there is nothing else to do.

    Development is too slow

There is a point though. There is a hype right now, and that hype ensured so many people buying the SA in Alpha state, even with the warnings issued by the Devs, and it being completely buggy and unfinished. I have to say that it is rather smooth running for an Alpha, and a Beta usually has every mechanic working in-game. But in order to keep the players at a steady base and logging in they need to make content updates as soon as possible, as well as aquiring new people. That is the curse of Early Access, you get heaps of cash up-front, a hype, but you have to deliver to keep a player base. Truthfully it is never the hardcore-fans that keep a game alive but the core that buys it and tries it out. So in order to still have appeal at Beta stage, updates are needed. And because in a rather stable game like DayZ (credits for that), things like network issues, or bugging through walls are not a priority to the masses. Content is. Things all people can see and experience. Things like filling all the loot spots (Deerstands, Cars, I stil have never seen any loot on scrapyards or cars that so many people talk about :D ), new buildings/towns. Interesting new landscapes/landmarks. New items, weapons spring to mind. And new mechanisms of course. Some things are obviously done easier, of course and most things likely have already been developed for the Mod. Filling the loot spots should be easy, as adding new stuff that is already in the files of either SA or Mod. Adding a new town or similar should be doable as well along the road. Some sweet spot, like a lake or mountain will cause immediate attention. Mechanisms like vehicles obviously need a lot of coding done so way harder to implement. And of course publicity, added things should be yelled out to the community ASAP or announced when in development, without revealing too mich of course.

BREAKING NEWS: loot spawn on restart is intentional!

I reckon though that certain things, including zombies should have a respawn timer within a server session though, yet this depending on player count etc. Spawning in Kamyshovo, or at the crossroads between Kamyshovo and Solnichy 3 hours after server restart and not finding anything (not even zombies) is really unrewarding. I guess you could have certain houses respawn their loot every 30 or 60 minutes, every hospital two hours etc. Or base it on server population, of course. In general you should find basic stuff enough to keep you alive, even out in the wild, unless you get some kind of illness or wound.

    What Items are rare?

Logged onto my favourite to find a military base untouched, just to find three M4 on two bunks in the barracks and one in that police building. By the way are there any differences between STANAG and CMAG magazines, performance wise? As someone said, when you equally search all towns/encampments/bases etc. you will find some things rarer than other naturally, as some have only specific spawn points. You can find food almost everywhere, but obviously a M4 will only be in military loot points.

    the 7 SIN of STANDALONE

If you pay it is your rules within a set of rules you agreed on, be the hosters/Devs. Right now though the server browser is a real lackluster, due to alpha. I like my servers in Germany, daytime only, with a low ping and a moderate player count. Yet I too often log onto servers that are at night, or where player count suddenly goes up etc. So I rejoin. I have no problems with certain RP servers or PvE servers either. Nor with kicking certain people. As for the rest these things are kind of lame, but likely to be deleted in upcoming patches like combat logging and moving to another position.
  24. In the end there is no right or wrong in this debate, there are decent arguments for both sides, so the answer is likely somewhere in the middle where the most players can agree on. Things like daylight servers are a real necessity, if I guess right that the time is tight to the server's location, and therefore ping? If it is and people everywhere want to play after work, they will most likely always play at night or take severe ping hits. DayZ will always be a survival simulator, but a simulator does not need to be the plain thing some purists want it to be, it will always be simplified. Things like hitmarkers or a HUD will likely never be implemented. Some balance tweaks or visual mechanisms, will.

    Farming your own blood.

That about sums it up. A high blood level, along with a high energy and water level, will make you regenerate "health", though many people are unsure (myself included) what effects health has as it is a rather obscure concept at the moment.
