Can we stop this instant-ruined-everything stuff?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Seems to me they are not reacting to pain but to the physical force of impact of your melee weapon. At least they don't react when getting hit by a bullets (unless the bullets kills them of course). -
Eating and drinking system - Please, just give it up.

I agree. But perhaps it is currently artificially high because food spawns are currently artifically high. Anyway, I doubt we are going to get close to anything resembling actual balancing of this system until the beta. -

Also, time perspective is something that simply has to be warped in game for gameplay reasons. I doubt they are going to let you wait 5 or 6 actual months until your planted tomato seeds turns into fresh red tomatoes on your plants, when this feature is fully implemented. Same goes for hunger and thirst, this has to be a factor in each game session, even if that session just lasts a couple of hours, because it is an essential part of the survival game experience. -
How much of DayZ have you experienced?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
Haven't done fishing yet. Too many tools involved, and I am currently satisfied with hunting to bother with it. Haven't found a tent in this game yet at all, not as loot and not someone elses. I haven't tried blood transfusion because it is somewhat pointless when you can regain blood much easier and relatively fast by just eating and drinking. Tried all the rest. -
Awkward Hackers Argue - They Forgot About Me! :D
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Toperek1990 (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Hackers are pretty whiney when they get hacked. -
The proper title of the video should be "Making friends with a hacker". Seriously people, stop socialising with these people. Your attention and awe at their "hacker" leetness only feeds them and encourages them.

So you are going to keep this pathetic response up to whoever rightly questions your weird claims about starving in 15 mins on stable? Not very convincing, since it doesn't happen. -

Really? Thread title "Eating and drinking system - Please just give it up" is very hard to interpret in any other way. Anyway you are crying over what is occurring in experimental (I can only assume, because noone with an ounce of experience is going to die from hunger or thirst in stable), and that is indeed experimental for a reason. It is not representing what the game is and what it will be, they tweak numbers to test various things, and sometimes it occasions builds that makes players constantly die from hunger or thirst. That, and the constant client and server crashing, is part of the experimental, if you can't live with it, everyone strongly urges you to go back to stable. -

Zombie survival simulator. A rather large part of the entire survival concept is naturally based around finding the food and drink necessary to stay alive. -
You should be able to fry stuff though, after all the only kind of meat you seem to be able to get from big game are steaks.

Phenomenon: People that constantly talk to themselves
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to t1337dude's topic in General Discussion
I don't do this myself, but I have encountered a few players who did this as well. And they were all friendly and great fun was had hanging out with them. So OP is really causing himself to miss out on some fun by automatically killing players like that. -
From the devs themselves:

Indeed. The wood will appear even if you have no space in your inventory, it will just lie somewhere near where you chopped down the tree. And so far I haven't encountered a tree that didn't fall, you just have to spam the "Chop firewood" option enough times.

This feature was in Red Orchestra 1. It was great fun and caused some interesting situations (sprinting across an open field, getting shot dropping your gun, you have to decide if you want to sprint to safety or try to recover your gun), and would suddenly make secondary weapons much more useful as well. Sadly they removed this feature in Red Orchestra 2. This should definitely be in DayZ.
-
Not really going to do your work for you. And since it seems you are basing your argument on internet gossip I am just going ahead and call bs on your claim. Especially the part that they didn't increase the dev team until last month, which anyone having read the dev blogs will know is untrue.

Source please.

Or just lock them in a house.

why are bags so rare compared to other items ?

Burlap sacks and rope seems to be rather frequent loot spawns in 0.50 at least. All you need then are some sticks. -
I can see from the video that you are relatively new to the game, so here's a few tips based on what I saw in your video: 1. Don't carry around large amount of sodas. Drink them on the spot (or go to a safer spot and chug them down). They do more good inside your body than filling up all the slots of your backpack. Same goes for food. Make sure you have green energised and hydrated bars, and keep them green by eating and drinking food and drinks you run across. 2. Don't carry a gun cleaning kit. First of all, all guns spawn as pristine, so you won't need it for guns you find as loot spawns. Guns can get damaged from being inside backpacks or clothes that gets ruined, but as far as I know, it doesn't have any effect on them. And in the unlikely event that you do need a kit, you can find them everywhere, because noone picks them up as they spawn. 3. No need to pick up antibiotics. Water doesn't presently give you sickness, and all other forms of sickness can easily be avoided. 4. That yellow building in Krasnostav is indeed a police station, and it is a good spot for weapon loot spawns, so they do make out a nice alternative to firestations. Always check the police stations.

Could you please post a link to the exact page on the Gamepedia where they mention that all handgun damage is the same? I have been searching a bit, and can't find it.

It's only a matter of time before you randomly die.

Please repost it here, because I missed it as well and I can't seem to find the main thread anywhere. -

It is body hits that are the problem. Leg and arm hits gets cured by morphine, splints, body (spine for lack of a better word) hits apparently doesn't. -
Again: Previous 0.50 build set in December of Chernarus. Only a handful ever got up there, the rest starved to death. A map taken from a stable build would most likely see much more player death there and at the other military compounds.
-
Those areas (and the inbetween) have become spawns spawnpoints again, so there is definitely a lot of activity there now. And I wouldn't doubt that if they made a similar map from current stable, the most player death activity would no doubt still be on the coast (from Cherno to Svetlo), but I also suspect there would be a bit more player death activity inland than what this map shows.
