2 RUSHING BANDITS GET STOMPED! PRESS VEST OP!
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to louismcmanus's topic in Gallery
Very likely. I experienced a handful of m4 shots not killing the target, but it would be indeed be more likely that even more m4 shots would not kill the target if the target was wearing some sort of protection. It would make sense, since we know that helmets does provide protection from both melee and gun attacks. It would be interesting to know precisley how much protection Further experimentation would be needed. -
2 RUSHING BANDITS GET STOMPED! PRESS VEST OP!
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to louismcmanus's topic in Gallery
Its not the press vest, its just that the m4 bullets are basically crap. I shot a sniper in the chest 4 times at semi-close range with the m4, and he was wearing no wests of any kind, just an olive t-shirt . I heard him groan, saw the blood from each hit. My mistake was not emptying my mag into him, so I don't blame anyone but myself from the fact that the only result I got was him looking around, finally seeing me, raising his Mosin taking aim and finishing me off in one shot. I don't buy all that "M4s are to inaccurate" nonsense I have been reading on these here forums. It can be extremely accurate with a bipod and an ACOG scope. But its rounds are crap. Needlessly to say, I use the Mosin now and have not been dissappointed. I also feel more at home using that rifle from my RO days. -
Look what I found and can't pickup.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to HunterJay's topic in General Discussion
Found 3 copies of Art of War in the same loot run in Berezino yesterday. I only have one copy, though I am not interested in keeping it, as I already have a print version in rl. So very soon it is either going to the coast to be laid out on the road in front of Solnichiniy to be ignored by newspawns, or it goes in the flames of my gas cooking pot. -
Also at 11 mins: "Hi there. We thought you had died of starvation already" of that guy who earlier had announced he was dying of starvation. But then discovers that it is a female player with the gear of your friend (who has indeed by all likelihood died of thirst or starvation). "What, you killed our friend! You die!" So much win in this video.

I am perfectly aware that all sorts of types wears the clown masks, numerous videos are evidence that it can be favoured by (kinda noobish) friendlies as well. However I completely understand the distrust of them voiced in this thread. Anyone approaching or passing me, while they are wearing such a mask, will automatically be regarded as potential targets for KoS on the level of full military gear characters. You may choose to wear such a mask to flaunt your complex personality and that you appreciate the dark sides of your personality, or something similar, but it will put you at an immediate disadvantage in a situation where you have to gain the trust of someone else. I have read a lot of posts from players who wears the mask because it perfectly symbolises the kind of psychopathical killers they are in the game, and that is how I read the mask as well, so anyone wearing them "just for fun" will get the same treatment as those psychos wearing them with an intent. There is enough reason to suspect casually clothed characters, I don't really need much to place other players in the "enemy" category.

Ah, I see. I should have known from the fact that it was completely similar to a previous post (I have noticed that the forums sometimes screws up posts in various ways). Please disregard my answer to that post.

I've found it pretty strange that as the mechanics are currently set up, it encourages binge eating, on account of the strange eat till you explode for healing settings, while I would have thought that in a real life survival scenario, the aim would be to conserve food as long as possible. That cartoon posted in this thread with the obese DayZ player is not far from the truth. I've eaten 8-10 cans of food in one sitting and not even had the "I'm full" message (in fact I have yet to experience that). A person who had consumed that amount in real life would be worthless for quite a while on account of the digestion.

As I just posted in the post above yours (but clearly not read) 30 ammo stacks only take up 1 slot in inventory, 30 ammo mags takes 2. It is a question of space. If you've got enough, then by all means leave the mags, if you are sparse on inventory slots, empty your mags and just use the far more space and ammo efficient double 30 mags and 40 mags.

Lol at the noob shooting at you around the 4-5 min mark. Ample proof that the retards shooting at unarmed newspawns at the coast for no reason, are usually even more noobish than the newspawns getting shot. He really couldnt hit anything until you were almost right next to him and only after having emptied the entire magazine.

World famous books and tropical fruits
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
There is apples. Also someone mentioned finding some "How to learn Russian" books. So it is not all tropical fruit and world classics. But regarding the books, it is obviously easier for them to copy already digitised non-copyrighted books like the books from the Gutenberg Project, which are mainly classics, than to pay expensive copyright fees to include little known more recent books. Especially since books play a very little part of the game. -
30 round magazines takes two slots in the backpack, 30 rounds of ammo just takes one (even less if you got a 300 round ammo box). Collect double 30-shot mags or 40 shot mags and just empty all other mag types for the ammo. It is extremely rare that you will get in a gunfight that takes more than say 2 double 30 mags and 2 40 round mags. Of course all this is moot if you prefer the Mosin. It is a nice spacesaving weapon, and you don't need as much ammo, since each bullet is much deadlier than the m4s.

I have 2 can openers and 3 compasses. I also found 3 copies of Sun Tzu's Art of War in my recent looting run at Berezino. I only took one copy though. Now I only need to find some stranger to exchange goods with.

Are there no more night time servers?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to kripplez's topic in General Discussion
For reasons I have stated elsewhere I don't play nighttime, but I have noticed a few 24/7 nighttime servers,. However if you sort the server list by number of players you will find that most of the servers with 5 or less players on are usually nighttime, so you might want to start from there. -
Respawning on server with no loot.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to SpanishAssasson's topic in New Player Discussion
I tried joining one of those "Experimental servers" and then I spawned as a new character on the coast, but when I exited it and joined a proper server, my old character returned in his old position. -
Night time servers--- THE BEST SERVERS
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Space Milk's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. The OP even encourages gamma exploitation. I don't see any point in playing night time servers if you just cheat to make it bright day again. The only reason to exploit like that would be to get the advantage over players that doesn't do it. I prefer a level playing field in that regard, and thus stay away from night time altogether. -
Lookee here what I found in Polana just now: But strangely enough when I read it, it has this strange thing to say about the author: Didn't know H.G. Wells was the pen-name of Lovecraft, but it all makes sense now.

It did indeed seem like that when he found out it was a girl he got all confused and needy.

Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
Since they have announced that they are working on curbing combat logging, I suspect that whatever they come up with will also reduce server hopping to some degree, at least if it is something like a log off timer or something similar.
