Rocket answers to everyone who complains about 3D view
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
The "nauseous" excuse is just that, an excuse. Most fps don't have 3rd person and you don't hear anyone complaining about such an issue. The "been here too long to just remove" explanation is also puzzling. SA is a new game. It is not the mod, and as far as I am aware there are no clauses that the SA should just be a port of the mod. Anyway, with the current rate of sales, it won't take long before the number of new players who have never played the mod will exceed the number of mod-players, and make that argument even more spurious. -
Rocket answers to everyone who complains about 3D view

I have bad feelings about this. That kind of dev sponsored division of the community is never good. It was basically what killed off Red Orchestra 2. -
7.62x51 ammo - Useless ammo?

Isn't it the ammo for the forthcoming SKS? -
Mosin is horrible unless your accuracy is 100%

If you want to propose some fixes or highlight a problem, could you at least spend a bit of time explaining what that particular problem is before proposing a solution? It would make it more probable that your post could be understood by others. As it is now I don't think anyone has even a clue about what it is you are talking about. -
I was also briefly in a daytime server, but lost connection. Anyway, if gamma exploit has been taken care of I don't have any problem with nightime servers.

Steam name gone, character gone

Also, are you guys talking about losing characters from the experimental build? Of course you lost those. -

My character wasn't showing on the title screen either, so I figured he was wiped as well. I set a new default, but when I logged into a server it was back to the character I logged out of yesterday. May have been in a slightly different position from where I logged out, but not far. -
The game doesn't feel like a zombie apocalypse.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Zjasuu's topic in General Discussion
I don't see any difference in the OPs pic and what you encounter in the outskirts of Cherno. They look exactly the same, and there is lots of burned out cars, broken windows, ruined buildings etc in the game. The degree of ruination would also vary depending on how long it has been since the apocalypse. Since you find lots of goods in houses, I have always imagined that it is fairly recent in DayZ. -

Indeed. There is also a certain deceptiveness about it. The nice weather, the wind rustling in the leaves, the bunny hopping along. But the knowledge that there is a reason for all this quiet, and that every second you may encounter something very unfriendly, is in my mind much more disturbing than a fake Hollywood grey filter (which wouldn't make any sense for the storyline of this game, as as far as I know, there was no atmospheric catastrophies involved in this zombie apocalypse). -

Why shouldn't the sun be shining after a zombie apocalypse? -
It is the patch to stable. It has been confirmed.

Still only a couple of experimental servers showing on the list. Guess they must be playing on those.

Not to mention one of the worst shots in history.

Perhaps. But they are also invisible words.

Finally found a Mosin, and left it there
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to jprime84's topic in General Discussion
That could very well be the explanation. Choosing the wrong option in the inventory. -
spawning in berezino and finding a backpack
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Timecharge's topic in New Player Discussion
Balota is not a spawn anymore, and hasn't been for some time. It is Novy Sobor or various positions along the East coast now. -
How would the shotguns be any different from the Revolver?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Timecharge's topic in General Discussion
For one thing there is a lot more shotgun slugs than .357 bullets lying around. -
DayZ in the headlines as "Murder Simulator Like No Other" - LOL!

Worked fine for me as well. -

BadAsh (DayZ) replied to jprime84's topic in General Discussion
Yes, loaded manually. But as far as I understand the OP, he claims that he can only get the rifle to hold 1 bullet at any given time. -
Olive jungle boots. They seem to be a new addition. At least I have only encountered the light brownish variant in the current stable build.

BadAsh (DayZ) replied to jprime84's topic in General Discussion
It is a bolt action rifle which is capable of holding 5 bullets. I have only heard of this single bullet loading bug in connection with the experiemental build, and especially in connection with spray painting the rifle. I have not encountered this in the current stable build, and I have also heard lots of people report that it doesn't occur with the unpainted Mosin in the experimental build, so the OP puzzles me somewhat. -
Yeah, they do mostly seem to have to use insane amounts of ammo just to kill a single unarmed player. It is obvious they tend to possess more bullets than skill. They often also "combat" log after a few kills. I don't know why, but perhaps because they are afraid the newspawns will come at them with their fists raised.

Really difficult to filter out any useful information as it is mostly fan cruft/reddit junk. This is the only couple of questions that seems slightly of interest regarding the game:
-
Yes, I've tried that a lot as well. Seems to be very frequent if lying prone next to some sloping ground/rocks, making sniper firing from natural elevated positions a very risky business, as you can't know beforehand if the shot will be blocked or not.
