I see. Thanks for the clarification.

Really? It is not like I would begin discussing this subject, but I was not aware of these specific topic bans. I have read the Forum rules and it doesn't say anything about that. As a relative noob here on the forum, is there some sort of comprehensive topic ban list I could be directed to? I prefer knowing beforehand which topics to avoid in order not to get banned, tend to make it easier on all parties.

Are you happy with the current loot drop
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to F1ackM0nk3y's topic in General Discussion
I am quite sure that sometime in the future this current loot situation will be considered to have been something akin to heaven, because by then loot will have been made extremely more scarce than it is now. Makes sense to me. Current situation, even with the diminishment in the latest patch, is still a gorge-until-you-barf simulator. -
Speaking of Frankie, I wish people would stop saying "Hey there buddy" as their greeting during encounters. Please guys, try to be a bit more original.

Never died from thirst or starvation. Water is no problem, and wont be until they introduce infected ponds, but even with the most recent patch I have had no trouble finding food (guns a bit more difficult it seems).
-
Unlikely. Alcohol tincture isn't active in the game yet, in fact infections aren't active. Atm it is all about the eating. And yeah as stated already you need to eat a lot. But the "Healing" and "Healthy" boxes will appear when you do.

"Call of Cthulhu" is actually a rather short short story, so you won't have much luck finding a book with that title irl. You should look for the book "Lovecraft Omnibus, volume 3", that is by far the most widespread print edition containing that story.

Weapons are to strong and easy to use.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to enlgma's topic in General Discussion
How do you know the guy who shot you was a fresh spawn? He could have played the same character for weeks for all you know. And why does it even matter if it was a fresh spawn? Having stayed alive for a couple of days do not in any way earn you more rights than fresh spawn. It may earn you some gear which will give you the advantage over them, but if not, well too bad. You were obviously running somewhere out in the open and hadn't checked the spot properly. He got the advantage over you and you died. Guns do actually kill in one shot, so you just have to be more careful (although even all the care in the world is sometimes not enough) if you want to avoid such incidents in the future. -
I see. That makes sense, Thanks for the explanation, and keep up the interesting work. The encounter with the guy in the firestation with the axe and raincoat was heartwarming. I was sure he was going to axe you, but instead he offered you some of his stuff, and he really didn't look like he had much to spare. Goes a long way in the positive score regarding faith in humankind.

HELPPPP! IM STUCK IN THE LOWER FLOOR OF A HOUSE
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to P3Nn's topic in General Discussion
In one video there was a guy stuck like that and he proned parallel to the wall and justed rolled outside. Dunno if it will work in your case. At least you have disinfectant. Others less lucky have jhad to wait to starve or thirst to death. -
Me too it is going to be interesting. Now we just need the database not to screw around and reload all those old m4-wielding characters back into the game. I wouldn't mind a complete wipe of the database, so everyone had to start over now without any spillage from the loot-filled previous build.

Funny enough that is the exact same behaviour of the newspawn killers preying on the coast. They are happy to waste several mags of ammo to shoot at newspawns, but if encountering another armed player, or even just a determined newspawn charging them with a melee weapon (or even just fists), they log out. But then again, I am guessing there is a great overlap in the playerpool between these two kinds of players.

Switching Backpacks (Question)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to YeBittenDog's topic in New Player Discussion
I've seen videos of players just moving enough items over to the new one to make enough room to carry the new backpack in the old, then move to a safe spot and make the full transfer there. Other than that I don't think there are any easy ways to do that. And when you think about it, it should take time to transfer a large inventory from one backpack to another. The items need to be carefully packed in order for them all to fit into such a small space. -
Interesting that it turned out a positive. And the friendly encounters really contrast those douchebag encounters where they just shoot you for no reason. How do you distinguish between "unfriendly" and "very unfriendly", though? They seem to be both just KOS-behaviour according to the examples in your video.

To the OP: Lol. I didn't even know you could use the screwdriver as a weapon. You may very well have been the first player ever to have been killed by that in SA.

I doubt it. It was a very popular show.

I just think the blood system needs to go...
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
In theory, but not as it currently works in practice. As it is now the game encourages binge eating and drinking to the limit of vomiting as the most efficient way to stay healthy or regenerate when wounded. In reality that would be a very bad idea, not only in long term perspective, but especially in cases of being wounded, as the body would have to focus way too much energy on digestion as compared to what is needed for healing. -
Huzzahh, Zombies walk through doors now
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to F1ackM0nk3y's topic in General Discussion
Their movement pattern has been somewhat random for a while now. Sometimes they go through doors, and even up the stairs. Sometimes they pass through walls or stairs. -
Indeed. The massive newspawn killing suddenly makes sense: These kids are in a hi-score competition!

I just think the blood system needs to go...
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
Not being hungry or thirsty is far from enough to start the healing process, you need to be full. Basically you need to eat a lot (about 8-10 cans or a bag and a half of rice) before it starts regenerating. -
Very interesting, thanks. It settles my doubts about whether I should exchange my Mosin for a shotgun, I won't (at least not on a permanent basis, but I may try it out for a while for fun). The sawed off does indeed seem to be extremely unreliable even at very close quarters, as other posters on this forum have mentioned as well. Another thing in your video. I noticed that you used the speed loader, but I also noticed that you had to load the speed loader before loading the gun. What is the process and how long does it take if you just load the shotgun by dragging the bullets on to it and choose the "Load" option? That extra process with loading the loader for a measly two shots seems very wasteful to me.

Rocket answers to everyone who complains about 3D view
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
If the maximum FOV in the settings is really only 90, it shouldn't be a problem to extent that view somewhat. Going 360 degree FOV as the 3PP provides is just an absurd response to that issue. -

BadAsh (DayZ) replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, but I am still not convinced by your anectdotal evidence that this is a problem on a scale serious enough to divide the community. Anyway the people suffering from neurological issues serious enough to cause them to throw up when playing first person cannot consist of anything but a mere fraction of the general populace. Indeed I would generally advice against people with such conditions playing video games at all, they may experience other unexpected side effects like seizures and such. Why this particular game should cater for them to such an extreme extent is beyond me. -

Untrue. You can look over your shoulders (hence the problems with the mountain backpack).
