How often do you die from glitches?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to infiltrator's topic in New Player Discussion
I've never experienced dying from such desync glitches. -
My character on the regular servers wears a tactical vest. It was an older character revived through the epic database meltdown. He also has a handful of the green shotgun rounds.

I can't see how 3rd person is helping this game..
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to infiltrator's topic in New Player Discussion
But yeah, like they said, just join a hardcore server. While there aren't as many as there are regular servers, there are still enough of them for it be relatively easy to find a well populated one. -

3PP has nothing to do with the game being an alpha. -
Hard to hit zombies with melee
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to jasonreynalds2's topic in General Discussion
Press space. You had the axe raised. Almost impossible to hit anything when it is like that. -
Not if it was a surprise punch. Punch is definitely not overpowered, but I can see why some players would do their best to try and make it look that way. It must be so humiliating for an armed player getting punched out by that unarmed guy you are trying to murder.

DayZ Standalone - Disinfectant Torcher (Hilarious)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Arran28's topic in Gallery
You killed him the moment you fed him disinfectant. Do keep up your moronic gamestyle, though. Because I look forward to encountering you on the coast, and it will be my pleasure to pound your brains out. -
Bananas are usually picked when green and shipped to their destinations, where they are placed in ethylen gas ripening rooms, speeding the ripening process. Cargoes of green bananas on ships or in warehouses could easily have been found and spread all over Chernarus. Same applies to a certain degree with oranges. Apples already grow on trees in Chernarus. Kiwis are a bit more problematic. The presence of those in a fresh state suggests that the apocalypse couldn't have occurred more than a couple of weeks ago max.

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.33.114782
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
There are and has been numerous different measurement systems using the term "mile" for very different units of length, so that is strictly speaking not true. -
Have you tried shrooms?

How I have stayed alive for 6 weeks on a single character
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to knar33's topic in General Discussion
Just watched the video and you are right. It seems the only friendly about him is his yelling "Friendly", he does everything possible to come off as the most threatening and annoying person ever. I like the video The Austin Experience made "Operation Friendly", which is basically a spoof off of that (or at least he ridicules that kind of behaviour, while still making it clear that most people are actually rather nice even with the abuse going on). -
Usually, but it is not 100% foolproof method of distinguishing, as I have encountered desynced dead players doing the same though (giving the "You cannot perform this action on a dead player" message).
-
You could have just taken his gear, technically there was no need to kill him. However since it is almost impossible to distinguish dead and unconscious players atm, he may very well already have been dead. As such I don't think it is something you need to spend much time lamenting.

Duplication exploit - need for global wipe?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to frosti's topic in General Discussion
I have never heard of this exploit. But I have no issues with regular character wipes to prevent it. After all this is just the alpha. -
In-game sound needs to be re-worked
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I very much doubt this is the case. If it was it would mean you have guys drinking 50 cans of soda in a row, or endlessly combining and splitting up ammo rounds. Since the variety of those sounds is very low (while if it was actual player sounds, it would be a much larger array of sounds, and not repetitive like that) I can't imagine them being anything but randomly generated ambient static. -
Try the hardcore servers. A lot less senseless KoS sniping, since the snipers can't automatically watch their backs with 3PP surveillance drones, so they tend to stick to the "Regular" servers. You can actually run up and down the coast on hardcore servers without being fired at once.

Wrong forum. This is SA.

Stories, what do you do when fully kitted out?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Nonapona2's topic in General Discussion
Yesterday I went to the coast again. I had collected all sort of stuff that I thought it would be nice to share with some newspawns. So firstly I placed a lit gaslamp on the exit road from Elektro, then I started running up the middle of the road, dropping things from by backpack as I went: 9 shotgun rounds, 3 shotgun snaploaders, a Chernarus Army Beret, rope, 3 compasses, 3 packs of 20 rounds of Mosin ammo, some handcuffs, a gas cannister, a PU scope in worn condition and some other stuff in random intervals on the road all the way to Kamyshovo. I ran with my m4 out, and passed several newspawns on the way, but as I was busy in my inventory I didn't have time to interact. I also realised I could easily have been taken out by snipers on the hill, it was a 38/40 server, however nothing happened. I would like to have witnessed how that little trail of loot was received by the numerous newspawns. -
Veresnik Suprise - we meet 2 upstanding gentlemen
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to thorlax's topic in Gallery
I have no problem with the KoS at the military area, but I can't help but notice how completely different this would have played out on a hardcore server. The defender inside would have had the advantage because you wouldn't have been able to pinpoint his exact location using the 3PP x-ray vision. -
In my experience if you hear a full zombie groan when entering a server it is indeed a sign that there is a zombie somewhere in the vicinity, just a nice way the game tells you you should be careful. If it is just the cut-off zombie groan then it is part of the weird ambience sounds (like the sound of eating, popping of soda cans, tingling of ammo and other such sounds) and is not sign of an actual zombie being present.

Yeah, the reloading animation bug is a sure sign of desync. Too many people instantaneously cry "hacking" with insufficient proof.

Yesterday I used an empty cereal packet, a matchbox and a worn copy of Romeo und Juliet to kill 21 bandits -
I wonder why they changed it. The previous sound was fine.

Back in the day I watched all of Sidestrafes and Frankies DayZ mod videos which convinced me to buy a new pc so I could play the game. However by the time I had bought it the SA had been announced, and also just by watching all those videos I kinda was fed up with the mod already, so it wasn't until the SA alpha was released that I got around to actually buying and playing the game. A decision I have not regretted.
