Rather off-topic answer. Next time please read the OP before answering. Based on my own personal observations it is baseball bat, wrench, fire extinguisher and shovel. Although there was one game where I seemed to be able to kill zombies in 2 hits with the fire extinguisher. I haven't been able to reproduce that, though (and it is a couple of patches ago). I don't know if the baseball bat has any more damage capability than the wrench, it takes a massive amount of hits to kill zombies with both weapons, but it seems to have a better range than any of the other weapons mentioned.

I've seen several pics and videos of players running around wearing burlap sacks on their heads interacting quite normally, making it clear that they can see with it on. Have they introduced an option to cut holes in it, or is it bugged?

Still very interesting stuff. I don't have a Youtube account so I am following your videos through this forum. It would be interesting to make a statistic regarding the number of military gear (weapons as well as clothing) players in groups and their tendency towards hostility. From my judgement it seems that these kind of players make out by far the highest portion of the hostile segment (and almost completely absent in the friendly segment). Which is kinda strange when you think about it, since groups of players in military gear should be the type of player most capable of maintaining their own security, and thus least likely to see threats in (especially) unarmed players. Yet it seems they time and time again KOS unarmed players.
-
I disagree regarding the points. It makes sense to me to reward +1 friendly points for people who doesn't KoS and leave it at that, and +2 for people who actually gives gear or shows the way to gear (same thing really) or anything else. +2 means an active positive participation of friendliness, regardless of the nature of those actions, while +1 is just passive friendliness (refraining from doing anything hostile).

Not if the area where you got killed is the designated respawn area. People killing unarmed players in there definitely deserves the risk of the kind of revenge depicted in the OPs video. Nothing more satisfactory than killing coast bandits.

I can only think of 2: 1) Versatility in gunfights. Long range sniping and close combat full-auto capabilities 2) Carrying a gun to a friend or other player. And considering the hassles involved in general survival gameplay when carrying 2 primaries, 1) is really only viable if your sole interest in the game is gunfighting.

Aren't you just the writer of superflous comments. -
It'd be ludicrous to think there WONT be a functioning train

Not to mention the reuqired track maintenance. Railroad tracks gets overgrown very quickly without constant usage and service. -
Nah, that's not what happened. But enjoyable to see you squirm about the truth.

I don't think anyone here is saying there shouldn't be masks in the game. It is just silly that it is masks from a specific game. Make some creepy Eastern European styled masks unique to DayZ instead of these badly disguised product placements.

Yeah, loot drops on zombies are completely unnecessary. Especially if it would negatively affect the number of zombies present on the map.
-
Not necessarily. There could be tons of reasons why some do and some don't. Different reactions to infections, how much former brain-life left, random noises causing specific reactions, etc etc. Questioning the rationale for hordes seems kind of strange, since we don't really have any kind of background story for the game in the first place. And hordes definitely would make a great gameplay addition, making not only towns potential zomibe hotspots.

It could be made kinda like how the current voice message system works in RO2 (I hate it for voicemessages, but it could be quite handy for these kind of messages). Press "V" for general stuff, or "B" for orders. When you press and hold those keys a box appears on the screen with various themes "Acknowledgements", "Locations", "Movement" etc, you then move mouse to a theme box and a further box appears with various choices for messages. You move mouse to a box and left click, and the player says that message. 2 or 3 keys would then be all that was needed in order to include all 43.

Currently played 89 hours and have yet to run into any hacking. -
To the ones saying guns and ammo are impossible to find.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
I've found ammo boxes with ammo, but I've never found a gun with ammo in it. They could have changed it this recent patch though. Have only been to one military place since then, and it had already been looted (lots of shotguns in civilian places, though). -
I spawned with a previous character who I had collected both slugs and pellets with in anticipation of the shotgun patch, so I had lots of slugs in my inventory. Unfortunately you can't load the slugs into the shotgun.

Zombies should run faster than players
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
In the future players will have working stamina, and the zombie AI would be better. They would for example likely be able to surround you, so I think it is doubtful that you will just be able to outrun them. -

BadAsh (DayZ) replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
There is going to be a lot more zombies in the game in the future. A lot more. When they are going to appear in hordes they will pose a lot greater threat, even without being extraordinarily and silly super fast. -
Server hoppers in high weapon areas.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Grumbuck's topic in General Discussion
That is a bad solution. Servers come and go. Having the existence of your character depending on whether someone pays their server fee is just not viable. -
I don't think they serve any real purpose at the moment beyond mere aesthetics. But in one of the dev diary videos they said that they intended to implement some features, among others that if you ran around in badly damaged footwear you would eventually injure your feet.

In case no one noticed, the developers silently increased zombie numbers in last patch.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
If you have had your fists up when switching to axe remember to press space to lower axe. If it is held up (in front of your face) like that it will be virtually impossible to hit anything. -

They also still walk through walls if they feel like it. -
I have got a copy of Sun Tzus Art of War as well as an extra copy of Call of Cthulhu for anyone interested.
