The Czechs speak Russian? Well, you learn something new everyday. Thank you American children.

We've experienced the "eat to repair construction helmets" bug. So I guess this doesn't seem particularly outlandish.

Let me get this straight: So you are playing a game that essentially aims at being a survival simulator in a world of a zombie acopalypse. Where food and basic items will be difficult to find, where drinking from the wrong pond can kill you, where staying outside too long in bad weather without being dressed in warm clothes will make you sick (and eventually die), where you will be able to hunt and kill animals, prepare their meat and cook it, and still you want rain not to behave like it does in reality: obscures sight on longer distances because you can't snipe other players? Are you aware how incredibly silly that demand makes you sound like?

If it was at your feet then it means you have encountered the oft mentioned collision bug. It has absolutely nothing to do with the SKS, or the ranging of the scope or any of that, it will happen just the same with any other gun in the game, if you happen to stand at a bad spot (most places on sloping ground tend to be bad spots).

Why are road signs in Russian, but books are in English?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to stc105's topic in General Discussion
I have encountered books in French, Russian, Chech and German. All kinds of languages could be added, since it is only a matter of choosing the right out-of-copyright databases. They could make all the books Russian if they wanted to. I like the fact that there are non-English books in the game, but, as a non native English speaker I also like that there is mainly English language books in the game, because, whether one likes it or not, it is the lingua franca or today, and having English books means they are more likely to be read, thus more likely to play the role in the game as books as they are supposed to. I am fluent in several languages, and would like nothing better than to have books present in the game in those languages, but I also appreciate English language books or English translations since they are simply more accessible and it helps make books a more viable object in the game. I am a book collector, I really like books, but the first sessions of this game I played books was dead weight to me, I needed food, weapons and other valuable objects. But as I continue to play this game I have learned the value of rare books, as well as I have learned the lesson of not having to store food. As I have played I have learned which books are rare and I have collected those, as indeed I have done in real life. Perhaps someday books will function as currency. Pristine condition editions of the Art of War of Call of Cthulhu will function as large bills, and when that day comes I can safely say I am loaded. My regular and hardcore characters has respectively 4 and 2 copies of Call of Cthulhu and both have 2 of Art of War. -
What are you talking about? Of course you can be seen if you are behind cover. You can be seen by that guy sneaking up on you from behind, which you won't notice, because you aren't able to 3PP 360 degrees radar him. ' Discuss that, troll.

Why are road signs in Russian, but books are in English?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to stc105's topic in General Discussion
Because books being in English makes the books accessible to most players and thereby able to provide an enhanced gameplay experience for players, while signs being in Russian makes them unaccessible to most players, thereby making it more difficult for most players to find their way and in that way enhancing the feeling of being stranded in an alien hostile environment. Both things thus enhancing general gameplay. -
Yesterday I shot at a guy who happens to be drinking at a pump that
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I would be very suspicious of players calling out "I'm friendly". It seems to be universal speech for "I'm either a bandit or a douche who doesn't know how to start a conversation" (either way they are begging for bullets). However your example did not contain any of those signs, in fact his response while being shot sounds rather straightforward. -
Dayz The good, the bad and the glitchy zombie
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to deamonsauce's topic in Gallery
Walking right in front of fully armed military gear player while you are begging for food. It is my opinion that as a method of suicide, that is more reliable than jumping off the drum silo in Solnichniy. As a general rule of thumb you should be very suspicious of players not having the upper hand asking for supplies from players having the upper hand, because it is a good method for the former to gain the upper hand while the latter is rummaging through their inventory for stuff. I see a lot of players thinking being friendly is the same as getting rid of all reservations against other players. That is very wrong. Being friendly does not mean you should not be cautious. -
Pretty much this.

Why am I shooting the ground while prone?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to sweaper's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes, it is a wellknown bug happening when shooting while standing on sloping ground. As stated can occur when crouched or standing up as well and has nothing to do with gear or bad aim or any of those things. From the bug feedback it sounds like slopes are not currently implemented correctly on the map, but apparently functions more like steps (or something similar) in the mechanics, causing these weird effects to happen if you are situated the wrong place. -
The Complete Zombie Overhaul Mod
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to pacific_coast's topic in Technology/Programming
All very nice ideas. I would love this game to turn into a proper zombie game as well (kind of like No More Room in Hell meets DayZ). However I feat that most of these ideas would never be possible to implement without causing unacceptable fps drops and lag, even after proper optimisation of the game. -
Does anything spawn in the really tall apartment buildings?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to thequantum's topic in New Player Discussion
Found plenty of canteens of the roof of those buildings. -
I Believe I am Having A Heart Attack
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to guppy22143's topic in General Discussion
This heart attack business in the game just seems silly. Infections, colds, poisining, even scurvy all seem quite straightforward and natural for this kind of game. But this malady is a weird choice. -
You are providing feedback on one of the few things that we know will change drastically with each patch (loot spawning), and the way they function currently we know they are not supposed to function in the final stages of the game. So yes, your feedback on this is kinda superflous.

To people who think kiling bambis is wrong check this out
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
Op uses the term "bambis" indiscriminately. OP is irrelevant. -
Yes. It will definitely become more difficult in the later stages of the game, judging by Rockets statements about a survival game. So yeah, alpha and all that.

The m4 will eventually become quite scarce. Let the kids have their fun with that and their full military gear until then. Their reaction to the deprivement of all that will be that sweeter to the rest of us.

Question for headphone users (game audio through headphones)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
Headphones is definitely a big advantage. They have saved my life more than once, as they enable me to hear not only the footsteps of people sneaking up on me, but also the general direction. I have been killed a couple of times where I hadn't bothered with headphones, where I know using headphones could have saved me, or at least provided me with a chance of fighting back. It is true there is some problems with gun sounds, on longer distances you need to face the direction of the shooter in order to hear the shot, but on medium to close encounters I haven't had this problem. So that is a big YES. -
Tired of being pushed around? I can help!
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Kalibyr's topic in General Discussion
What are you talking about? Those first couple of hours between being a newspawn and gearing up is currently the most fun to be had in the game. As soon as you are geared up the game loses its purpose. -
Heh, trampoline zombies.
-
As well as the small clinic. Nice that they add them to other towns, though. And it is going to be even nicer when they spawn some loot.

I regained consciousnes almost instantly and my attacked was gone - what did actually happen?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Vis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Perhaps he hadn't seen you coming and was surprised by you entering the building, and thus only wanted to escape. The fact that he didn't finish you off suggests this.
