Have the devs addressed the gamma night vision issue?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Of course it's an exploit. That is actually the definition of an exploit: Everyone can do it, because it is a game feature that works in unintended ways. -
What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
That sounds like an awful game. Anyway, based on the statements from the devs, I don't see the SA as moving along to be a shined up version of the mod, but rather a game that will move in its own direction (a lot more anti-game survival elements, less base building, vehicles and military weapons (and loot in general) a lot rarer). So you may even have to wait forever (or at least until modding will be enabled) to receive many of your precious mod features. -

You aren't struggling with anything. You are sitting on your ass complaining about how impatient you are.- 118 replies

There are several links to the actual animation (in 3PP) in this thread. So it has been done, and I guess to answer your question: "Enough, it seems".

Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to JimmyGate's topic in General Discussion
I think it is a bit disingenous to use zombies as an example of "fundamentally wrong things", since we know that they have invested a lot in future development of these, but have not yet released anything major regarding them for us to judge how "fundamentally wrong" they are going to be. -
They are incredible rare as seen in relation to m4 mags, even in military tents. I have mostly found the 10-shot mags in mil tents, but now and again a few 30-shot mags. The rifle itself also seems to be relative rare in civilian/police station weapon loot spawns. I have had my fun with it, though, and decided against carrying it in the future. Even against zombies it is very unreliable (it doesn't seem to have any silence effect compared to other guns for example and requires headshots to oneshot kill zombies, and sometimes you even need 2 headshots). I carried the amphibia as well for some time. Both the .22 guns are good for practising those headshots, but in the end I decided I would use my storage space for something a bit more efficient, since I wouldn't dream of trying the gun out in an actual gunfight with other players. I don't feel near confident enough with gunplay for me to give myself such a disadvantage.

What dayz could have been without zombies
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
You can remove zombies to your hearts content when they enable modding. Until then they are in this game for good. And for the better in my opinion. -
Hello,I would like to ask for un unban.

You have to take it up with BattleEye. But I think if you voluntarily compromised (if I am reading your post right) your own account like that there is not much they can do. -
That cuffing someone while luring them into reading a book is actually a rather good trick.

With such poor arguments one can only conclude that it is indeed squeamishness woefully inadequately disguised as technical worries. If snipers are hunting you, the least of your problems will be the need to defecate. Don't blame your poor skills at a game feature. Snipers shouldn't be hunting you if you play with awareness and care, and they could as well take you out while you eat and drink, or just simply loot. In fact having natural processes interfering with your deathmatch gameplay is a good thing in my book. Remember those snipers will have to poop as well sometime and thus be vulnerable. Also the pooping animation shows the character grapping something from the ground and using that to wipe. So yes, the character automatically wipes, and you won't need specific objects for wiping. The poll isn't a legally binding referendum. If the devs want to include this in the game, it will be included regardless of how a handful of persons vote on this forum.

Small, meaningless, yet rare items
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to IReadTheAgreement's topic in General Discussion
I've also only ever found one riders jacket, and it was on a character in the previous experimental build, so it's gone. -
If you want to find a mosin you need primarily to look in civilian buildings. But I seem to keep running into them, mainly in piano houses and the red arch houses, but also the office buildings and hospitals. So I would say you have just been unlucky. Keep looking and one will eventually turn up.

Besides looking cool the riders jacket is very practical, as it offers a lot of protection. Couple it with a press vest and you practically have full body armour. Regarding the OP there are various book titles that are more rare than others: The Art of War and Call of Cthulhu for example. And while you can read them, they do offer no advantage gamewise. -
I don't have the coordinates since its been several months since I visited that place, but it is in the forest northwest of Zub.

So I was in the piano house out on the docks at Cherno, I left the door open to let the beautiful midday sun shine through, and it created some powerful shadows, so powerful in fact that they functioned as an x-ray a let me see what was to be found on the upper floor:

Those times when you forget your playing the SA :)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
No. -
Sorry, but you do not adress my point. You say it can be abused by kids, I that is a point to be made about any feature. It can and will be abused by kids. So, that is not a particular forceful argument, unless you have been active opposing every single feature added to this game. You haven't. In fact you have just been active opposing this particular feature. As such I can only interpret your emotional response as being directly related to this particular feature, and therefore a case of you being squeamish, You haven't provided any argument, but this is the only feature you are so vehemently against, my interepretation is that you (and all the people who have argued in such a wanting fashion against this) are squeamish.

When do you think the first vehicle will be introduced?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I am not really anxious to see vehicles in this game, so I don't care. -
Since the post is basically a wall of text probably not containing anything but a rant, I can only go by the title of this thread: You are playing an alpha, you will experience countless patches, some will overall be a poor experience, some a great experience. They will all work towards the common goal of creating a beta out of this game. Noone forced you to participate in this ride, so you are free to get off at any time.

Why would you even use a controller for this kind of game? -
Beans for the early ST reference (they really became quite shitty in their later career). I am not too fond of the suicide-to-get-a-better-spawn-tendency though.
-
Me too. Around full moon. It even throws very large and visible shadows. But not the rest of the time. Remember in DayZ there will be no artificial light sources to light up the sky.
-
That is a really poor excuse for not providing facts to back up your prejudiced post.
-
It also very much depends on the phase of the moon whether it can provide enough light to actually let you see anything during night. In the Northern hemisphere it is only when it is around fullest that it can provide such an effect.
