Experimental Branch: 0.45 Discussion
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
I also had some serious rubberbanding issues during the first couple of hours after the servers came on. In fact so serious that at one point I ended up in the closed room in a police station. Luckily I could persuade some friendly souls to murder me. I played for a couple of hours more after than and strangely enough didn't experience much rubberbanding since. -
Also this is what firewood looks like now: And this is the option that pops up when you stand close to some of the small trees:

I was ambushed by a guy with an SKS and magnum and while I had all the ammo in the world I had only managed to find the crossbow. He fired off two loads of his SKS and 2 loads of his magnum while I shot away at him with my crossbow. I managed to make him bleed, but that was about it. He eventually killed me. So yes, I can confirm crossbows are crap. Though they were before this patch (there has been a couple of videos where it doesn't seem to do any damage upon impact).

I took one for you: I also ran across this rather curious loot pile in a corner cafe in Svetlo: This is what it consisted of: I don't know if that is a buggy loot spawn or if some player with a headwear fetish lives there.

I tried to get to the new city but unfortunately got myself killed 5 times by very unfriendly players (I only had a firearm one of those times). And the rubberbanding is awful. With my latest character I managed to get myself rubberbanded into the secret room of a police station. So now I can only wait for him to die (this game really needs a suicide option, or just a respawn button that works while you are alive). However since I died so many times I did notice there was an increase in a bit further inland spawns. I spawned around Krasnostav quite a lot and even once in Polana. I did also find an arrow. Other than that I unfortunately didn't get to see much. And yeah I crashed to desktop twice, one of those times was while being in the server browser.

Where can I commonly find SKS ammo?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Ransurian's topic in New Player Discussion
It does seem to be the most rare of all the current types of ammo in the game. However they do spawn in all the ammo/civilian gun loot spawning places. (besides the ones already mentioned: supermarkets, back of police cars, ground floors of city apartment buildings). However military places are probably the best places, especially tents (Balota tent city), as they also spawn the 10 round clips, thus increasing the chances of you finding that ammo. Edit: Of course as soon as the AKM is implemented it is going to be a whole lot easier to find, since I expect the magazines for that gun to contain ammo (one of them being a 75 shot drum mag). -
I have snuck up on zombies loads of times. I have even run right past them, while they were facing me, and they didn't do anything. So OP is obviously incorrect. However it does seem to be random how they respond with the current AI, so there is no useful tips and tricks how to make them aggro or not aggro.
-
They may very well end up doing that. We just don't know at this stage.
-
Most players have them because they found them when they spawned normally. I had one as well on a character that lived long after those vests had stopped spawning, but eventually it became ruined and I tossed it. Anyway, that guy you met could easily have bullshitted you about where he got it.

Since noone is being forced to buy the game, or if they have bought it, to play it, no it was not a mistake. Anyone wanting to experience the game as new upon release should simply not play the alpha and beta.

I guess they call that karma.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to TheLoneSurvivior's topic in General Discussion
Basically because the looting process at the beginning is what mostly resembles the "survival game" that I hope the rest of the game will eventually turn into. Loot should become much much rarer, so the deathmatching will become of a whole lot different quality than the very predictable and ARMA carbon copy type of military team fighting that it presently is. And while your two examples may fit some, I certainly do not presently enjoy "hanging in the woods", because there is nothing to do there. I probably will later, but after I have geared up I do tend to go look for trouble in the hotspots (that would be Berezino), mainly in order for me to get myself killed so I can restart the fun part of the process. But while I very much do get the "interaction and adrenaline" it is not the most enjoyable part of the game for me. -

BadAsh (DayZ) replied to TheLoneSurvivior's topic in General Discussion
I disagree. The first couple of hours as a newspawn getting geared up is currently the best fun to be had in this game. -
Hilarious videos. Keep them coming.

Used to. Now since noone is around in that place anymore it is purely PvE due to lack of Ps.

I have returned! And died in less than 5 minutes after logging in.... :o

As far as video recordings go, this one seems to be the shortest life yet (not SA, though): -
Military bases have wayy to much loot
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
A trip to Balota (especially the military camp) is enough to get all the military gear that is currently in this game. And there is never anyone around. I was lucky recently to meet one other survivor on a 40/40 server, but 30 or 20 players on a server and you can be sure noone is around there. So yes, military loot does indeed spawn in overabundance. However as has been mentioned the finetuning of loot spawn is for a much later stage of the development process, so people should just enjoy it while it lasts. -

Probably in order not to scare everyone away during the alpha period. -
Am I the only one seeing this..... People losing faith in the game
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
It actually shows no such thing. -
I have done the exact opposite, that is played on the first and best server that pops up on the server list, so only occasionally do I end up on a server I have played on before, yet I have not experienced character wipe either. I strongly suspect most of these "character wipes" are players getting killed during the log out process.

BadAsh (DayZ) replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
It take long breaks inbetween patches myself. And I bet many of the people that can't help going here to announce they are slamming the door on DayZ will be back later in the process when the game is more finished (and they've got their precious bases and vehicles). -
With such a reply why should we ever take any of your questions seriously again?

OP is as untalented in video editing as he is playing the game.

Is the attachment system bad for variety ?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I don't really get the logic of that one. Those variations are in the game right now through the attachment system. -
I entered this thread expecting something about one of these: I left it with a vow to take a reading course.

Please step away from this part of the forum. Zombies doesn't carry any loot. The loot body icon does appear, but it doesn't do anything when it comes to zombies.
