They do, but the smoke is only visible from very close (400 meters or so). I found two unlooted helicrashes, found a frag nade, lots of m4 parts and mags littering the ground around them, but no m4. So it seems the m4 is indeed going to be super rare from now on.

Zombie attack! (Oh, and blurred vision?)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
Actually it is the other way around. A player with no firearm would not attract that many zombies. And shotguns are currently bugged, they only fire one pellet, so throwing rotten bananas is currently more effective as a weapon than that gun. -
I don't see why people posting on these forums makes you not play the game. Have you ever considered just playing the game and not visiting these forums? The rest of your post is just the usual "why are they working on x when they should be working on y" armchair developer standard whining.

An exploit is something that is in the game being used in ways it was not intended to by the developers. So your explanation doesn't make any sense. Note that I am not taking sides in this discussion because I am not entirely sure what it is about, but I could simply not let your comment stand at that.

The only one I've found in the current stable I picked up at barracks at Balota. I found lots of AKMs in the previous exp. Never found a Longhorn in any build.

Experimental Branch: 0.46 Discussion

The small garages doesn't seem to spawn any loot either. -
Are you sure you have room enough in your inventory for it? If you haven't, the option to pick it up wont appear, but I haven't come across a shelf or cupboard high enough for the option not to appear if you do.

Found a frag grenade at a heli crash site. Didn't seem to work though. -
Some of it is. There has been no sighting of tents or flare guns yet.

Too difficult/frustrating in the beginning?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
It is certainly a game with a steep learning curve. When I started playing it back in December I died countless times before even getting a gun of any sort. But that being said, once you have taken that steep step, I found the game to be relatively easy (the survival part, the more important part, interaction with other players, never gets easy). I can gear up in a couple of hours as a freshspawn and even when freshly spawned zombies are no problem anymore, because with a bit of experience you can kick their asses easily with your fists. I don't think that this steep learning curve should be lowered. It may scare off a few players now and then, but to be honest if it does, it is ample evidence that it is not players meant for this sort of game anyway. Patience is probably the most important skill to have in this game, and that applies to beginners as well as experienced players. -

It's the new experimental. -
A throwing spear on the other hand would be nice to have. A self-crafted one.

Laser guns in game confirmed.
-
But apparently only in very small numbers, and they are being wiped as well.
-
They fixed hackmags and glitched ammo stacks. The latter includes 60 round stacks of 5.56.
-
If true that is most welcome news.

If you always wanted a gun as shown on the first picture, why oh why would you use that mother of god butt ugly rail handguard and bipod?
-
I think a lot of people go to Balota. But they go to loot and get out of there again, not to pvp. Basically players go there to get the stuff they need to ambush other players somewhere else. I do suspect it would still be a relatively rich source of unsuspecting victims, if you choose to prey there, although I am still always paranoid as crap when I go there.
-
I would go as far as to say it introduced a lot of bugs. This is actually inarguably the most buggy stable they have released so far. But I agree with you that the features introduced in it makes this a very important patch, and as I don't take bugs in the game as a personal affront, unlike a vocal minority on this forum, and as I do posses a somewhat extensive experience of how program development works, I do not predict doom and disaster if, during some phases of development, it feels like they are taking 1 step back for every 2 steps forward.

Other players have reported extreme sway for various guns, scoped and not scoped (the video in this thread shows a player experiencing "shaking" when holding an unscoped mosin which is not even in ironsight). This is clearly a bug. Hopefully to be taken care of either with hotfix or next patch.

Suddenly - my legs were broken
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to kieran0saurusrex's topic in General Discussion
At first I also suspected that that may have been the case. However decided against it on the following grounds: 1) when that occurs the zombie usually keeps attacking, thus making the player suffer further hits until they kill the zombie. This didn't happen here, I suffered the 4 fracturing hits and nothing more 2) After I used morphine I searched the perimeter and found no zombies even close by, and I had not heard any zombie noises at all, which is also usually the case (I had melee killed a couple on my way there, the Cherno high rises is indeed a zombie hotspot).3) as mentioned, I had barely lost any health, nor did I bleed, despite not wearing any trousers to absorb damage. Not conclusive evidence either way, I know, but still very unlike the previous times I have tried the teleport zombie damage. -

I wasn't shot. I suffered 4 fracturing hits to my leg within 2 seconds, but with no bleeding and minimal health loss, all this while not wearing any pants (thus having no protection at all). There is no gun, not even the .22, which would cause such a strange damage. -

When it happened to me I was standing perfectly still looking at my inventory. -
I have been reading that claim alot here, but I am not quite convinced that is the case, because 1) it is only a small selection of sounds that appears as random ambient sounds, not all sounds which are in the game (no gunshots for example) 2) the same sound will often be repeated several times for a longer duration of time not consistent with any player behaviour. However regardless of how they are caused there is no doubt that they are glitched sounds that needs to go.
-
I disagree. These sort of sounds could be caused by the wind or fleeing animals, or just from a rotten branch falling off a tree. I think they add to immersion. It would of course be nice if they were actually connected to real things, like an open fence gate moving because of the wind and all that sort of thing, but it wouldn't be that unrealistic if they weren't.
